This is the second video of watched of you working with that splitter, and that is one impressive splitter! Makes my Gravely look like a children's toy. Great job.
Good day! That splitter is pretty impressive - not often we are splitting 30"+ rounds so I wouldn't be too worried or concerned about it getting stopped in a round that large. Got it out easily and it kept on splitting. Great video. Love the easily changeable 4 and 6 way wedges. Merry Christmas and congrats on the 5K!
I loved you showing how the six way wedge worked. You know they have a wedge that works on the bottom part of the piece only. and makes handling of the heavy wood alot easier. Anyways a very educational video. Keep up the good work.

Great video Adam! When I get a big one stuck I smack it with a sledgehammer, few hits usually does it. It would be nice to have a helper to catch the big ones falling off. Makes it tough picking them back up. Thanks for sharing
Good job Adam another good video. I was more concerned if the operator had met his limits as opposed to the splitter those were some large splits you were chasing after. Lol Stay safe and merry Christmas brother.
haha yeah, I think I might try to figure out a way to get the tractor to get those rounds on the splitter for me haha. I'm still store from wrestling those things 3 days later... and I only did 2 of them
Hey Adam, Great video of the Eastman and it's capabilities. I should take the 15 minute drive from my place and go see those guys, never knew they were in my back yard till you made the trip to pick-up your unit. I would like to wish you, your wife and soon to be little one a very merry Christmas! and a happy and prosperous new year. Thanks.
Nice splitter and I love the box wedge design you highlighted in another video. I own a Wolferidge 35 Ton SHO with the box and love it though yours seems to create less of a mess. They are sending me a 12x wedge soon which I'm excited about. The funning thing is, as impressive as yours and mine are, my dads 1981 homemade splitter is still my favorite! I'll never part with that one.
This splitter is awesome there's only one thing missing, the conveyor. It is hard to keep up with the split pile have to keep stopping to pile the wood. Nice videos
Hey Adam, you did a great job with your splitter today. You put it through its test and shared what works with the splitter. Both you and the machine did good. Thanks for sharing with us. Merry Christmas to the 2 1/2 😉 of you and the rest of your families!

Great video Adam. It looked like a beautiful day to be outdoors. That splitter is fantastic and I reckon you will reach your limit before the splitter does. Any round over 26" I cut in half with the chainsaw becsuse I find its quicker to get the 2 halves split than trying to manhandle the big round. Great video Adam...those big pieces sure do break down into a lot of pieces don't they! I split somewhat smaller as well and it always amazes me how much can come out of just a few big rounds. Good lookin stacks ya got going there too! 👍

Awesome splitter In big rounds like those I always just use the big single wedge for the first split. Lot easier on the equipment Love your firewood videos
I thought your splitter did very well. I agree with the last Engineer. In the video of the 6 way wedge, you can clearly see the lifting ring stopping the block from moving through the wedge. Thanks for sharing.
Those huge rounds are the only reason i would consider buying a splitter like that! But in my opinion it needs the box wedge heck with wrestling and picking those huge pieces back up! But it is a beast Lol! Nice job Adam and congrats man your doing a awesome job! Take care and thanks for sharing 👍
I have a TimberWolf log splitter which is similar to this model. Whenever I get it stuck splitting big rounds, I take a split piece of firewood and place it virtually (like a post) behind the log by the push; I then try and split again, sometimes moving the piece around after each attempt. With this technique I can usually split any piece within a 1-3 attempts. This trick works by changing the location and amount of force applied.
Yes I am only 12 and I have a 2003 boles and2010 cub cadet also a foot pump log splitter and sell firewood so some of these videos are very awesome to watch
Adam. Do you have a single vertical wedge to go on the machine? Maybe with the really big rounds, just split in half first and not let them fall off to keep from lifting them again and keep the big chunks on the lift side. That is similar to what you are doing with the four way. You could use it and split first right down the middle and work with the four quarters?
I live in Kelowna BC and we dont get a lot of hard woods. Mainly just split fir and spruce and the odd sap pine. I dont think I need the 12-22...I think the 9-16 would be good enough. I want to get into firewood wood selling on the side. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you! great channel.
Hey Corey! Yeah if the wedge isn’t adjustable it’s pretty difficult to use. I’d have a hard time going back to the YardMax after using this splitter. I mean I will if I have to but it would be like going back to using horse and carriages haha
Awesome machine but how about the green and frozen stuff , some of us do not have much choice in trees and can't wait for it to season. We burn pallets , cut off from lumber yards. Thanks for the videos there are very interesting.
This is exactly why we needed this machine. These big pieces couldn’t fit through the processor. Do you find it necessary to really need a conveyor? I’m torn.
I think your growth in down to your attention to detail in your videos, also your have developed as a operator over a short period. Significantly improving your videographer skills, well done
Do you think the box wedge would have stalled in those rounds? Box wedge seems to be the way to go with larger rounds, like the labor savings with box wedge.
Nicely done! First you wrestle a very heavy piece to the lifter. It lifts it like it was nothing! Sure the 6 way was a bit much, but using it like a 4 way worked. Try that with a kinetic!
I’d be very interested to see a kinetic splitter with a box wedge or 6 way. I honestly think it would break very quickly because sometimes you hit a knot and the wood turns on you and a kinetic is too fast to stop the ram. The hydraulic you have a little bit of time react and back the ram up
OK I've been watching these Easton Made splitter videos for a while and a guy I know is having one delivered in March 2020. I need to split 26" to 30 " long pieces for my Alternate Energy gasification wood boiler. I'm using an American brand right now that is a beast with a log lift. Nothing and I mean nothing stops my piston and it weighs 1,100 lbs. Towable from both ends, flush to pusher height table which lets you slide the big pieces back easy (that was my design). 11 inch high spliting wedge with drop on 4 way. If this Easton can do 30 " inch pieces for my boiler and convert to a box splitter for the bundled short wood we sell at my store combined with the cycle time I will buy one. Can't wait to see my friends unit up close in March. These guys seem to have thought of most everything and the cycle time is the huge advantage over the American I'm using. Great video but the length is what defines the sack of a true splitter. Diameter is nothing compared to the length of the piece being split.Looks really well made compared to most other units out there. I'll pick his apart when it shows up and get back on here with my worthless opinion.
Haha I know they can customs make longer rams. I believe mine is 24-26” long somewhere in there but I’ve seen Eastonmade post videos with custom splitters they built for customers with 36” strokes
Andrew can accommodate you with no problem check out his videos he made a custom 12-22 with a 36 inch stroke but it has a very clever stop design when using it to make shorter wood so you don't have to wait for the long stroke cycle give him a call you wont be sorry it handles the box wedge very nice and is designed with an arm that brings the wood back until the piece is split awesome x10
Bad ass what is going rate for a cord of mesquite wood and how long after cut is good to burn real nice. Great stuff thanx very intriguing and interested in the splitter do you think you can do a run with the residential splitter from same company
We have the 12-22 as well. The box wedge is what you need to produce large amounts of consistent sized fireword. I run about 15,000 bundles a year through the box wedge.... I find the 6 way wedge works best on the 8 to 12 inch rounds I one quick push, but anything large it's easier to stick with the box wedge. Large crotch and knotty pine will cause the box wedge to jam up, and I have actually had to cut a round off the splitter before... ( Very large knot about 6" into a 40" diam pine). The box wedge does leave a lot more debris however..
I’ll have to look into the box wedge. For myself actually using it to heat with I like the 4 way because like I said I like bigger chunks. But for selling I do agree the box wedge is probably the way to go. Thanks for commenting
@@HometownAcres I haven't kept track we sell wood year round and use a 40ft conveyor to pile it up. At one time I did measure it at 15ft tall and 35ft across. We built a half circle wall of wood to help contain it. That was the Oak pile. We also sell Hickory to a few restaurants and try to keep 5 IBC bins full at all times. We sell 1 a week on average.
I love my Eastonmade splitter. We split the 30" Oak all the time. A good tip is the dont let the push block shove it off the tray and then you can use the spliter adjustment to lift it back onto the lift table. The bigger the wood the less bark in the piles. Bark holds moisture and dirt.
Nice video Adam, that eastonmade splitter is a beautiful machine I myself have a 12-22 and could not be happier with it. The guys that build them are of the same quality as the machine, great company. Have you had any experience with the box wedge and draw back arm? I use it on the massive rounds as well, pieces come out nice and uniform and the draw back arm avoids having to constantly pick up the massive pieces that fall of the catch pan. You get four pieces each push but you save all kinds of time by not having to pick everything up again and can cycle way faster. Great option and well worth it so you can maximize the wood you have in the yard. Check it out if you haven't seen it Jay
I do all my own harvesting and splitting (rented) from whatever's available, and I've always had good luck with the trees....ash, apple, cherry, hard maple etc. What kind of wood is being split here?
That's a nice splitter. Try Pin Oak on it. That stuff is PINNED together. I don't use a hydraulic splitter much. This past weekend was the first time I mounted my homemade skid steer splitter this season. That was only for elm. What awful stuff. I have OWB, so mostly just split enough to make it easy to load it. The Fiskars splitting maul is usually adequate. I usually cut 24-30" long. 10-12 cord a year.
@@HometownAcres Well, I don't split most of it. If it can easily be wrangled into the OWB, it goes in whole. Only stuff 10" round and bigger gets split. I have folding steel crates that are very roughly 2.5 by 3.5 by 4.5. They hold .25-.3 cord. I burn an average of 2 crates a week, starting the end of September and usually through April. This is any wood I cut while clearing fence - Boxelder, Mulberry, Black Walnut, Hickory, buckthorn, pin oak, burr oak, whatever my saw touches. My OWB is a wood gasifier and is very efficient. Hardly any ash comes out. The house, on the other hand, is about as good as a corn crib. It is a farmhouse built in 1929, we've worked at making it more efficient, but it'll take a lot more.

That’s very true! Hadn’t thought of it that way before!
Check it out if you haven't seen it

Hey Jay, Thanks for the comment. I would love to get my hands on the box wedge. And you are right great people, great company and a great product!
That lateral wedge is to low for the big ones. Can it be adjusted higher, where the big chunks are on the bottom?
Great job. Did you actually buy it after the demo?
Nice test ! 🔥👍🤠
Loved the video! Did you consider the 5-11 before settling on the 12-22? If so, what settled it for you?
The auto cycle on the 12-22 is awesome
@@HometownAcres
Isn’t the auto cycle available on the 5-11?
Nice curly maple
I do all my own harvesting and splitting (rented) from whatever's available, and I've always had good luck with the trees....ash, apple, cherry, hard maple etc. What kind of wood is being split here?
This was hard maple. Also known as silver or rock maple
10-12 cords is hoofin it pretty good if you’re splitting by hand
