Nevada Smith. I feel that this film was one of the best movies that Steve McQueen had ever done! Never a dull moment and very exciting! You are sorely missed Mr. McQueen! R.I.P.
Great movie and beautiful theme song. RIP Steve McQueen 1930- 1980 , Suzanne Pleshette 1937- 2008 , Karl Malden 1912- 2009 , Brian Keith 1921- 1997 , and Arthur Kennedy 1914- 1990. Also brilliant composer Alfred Newman 1901- 1970. They were at their best in this movie. We miss them all.
From grandmaster Alfred Newman himself, probably one of the most enjoyable themes for a western. The rest of the score is filled with a lot of song-styled and romantic tracks. "The Gold Wagon" however, is a great action-cue. Enjoy!
Newman did this score a few years after is triumph of How The West Was Won, and you can pick up a number of cues and themes from that score in this one. Both magnificent westerns with stellar scores to match.
Was a good few years for Steve McQueen. He had come a good distance in his ability to act since his "Blob" beginnings as well as the few years in the TV series "Wanted Dead or Alive". After "The Magnificent Seven" in 1960...he found his "nitch" in his character inside him. 1966 was a good year for him (McQueen) in this movie & "The Sand Pebbles". Great movie scoring in both. But this one shows the great film scorer, Newman, as one who wasn't limit in his style. A good theme...and another Thanks to Mr. Fred for this pretty piece.
Outstanding ! THANKS for sharing another great film soundtrack with us, Fabulous Fred ! I recall seeing this movie as a kid in a downtown theater when it was first released way back in the mid-60s ! CHEERS, Fantastic Frederic ! :-)
That wouldn't have worked out nearly as good. Steve was better suited for this. Also, Ladd would have been too old at 52 ; Steve 35. This movie was Steve's.
Aren't you forgetting "The Blob" ?? His leading lady in that one was none other than Aneta Corsaut, who went on to TV fame, playing Andy Griffith's gal pal in his classic 60s sitcom !
Their distant cousin, Alfred E Neumann (whose branch of the family spelled the name differently) wasn't musically talented. He found his niche in the humor magazine field.
Guten Morgen Fred. Note steven McQueen was often the part of superman for two million dollars half up front tax free he said no he do it for five million dollars tax free only
DIsagree hugely. Bernstein is great - and Newman is great. They each have their own style in scoring westerns, and each captures the feel of the West. Neither is copying the other - two different brands of genius.
Alfred Newman was an incredible composer. His music is truely timeless!

Also missed are Suzanne Pleshette , Karl Malden , Brian Keith....
ADORABLE, UNFORGETABLE AND GENIAL ALFRED NEWMAN !!! I CAN,T STOP HEARING THIS
WONDERFULL SOUNDTRACK !!!

But by the magic of film and DVD/CD, we still have their work, which should last forever!

Soundtrack Fred DIVINE AND UNFORGETABLE ALFRED NEWMAN !!!!!!
Excellent McQueen western. Great Alfred Newman score.
They don't write them like this anymore. Excellent.
Newman did this score a few years after is triumph of How The West Was Won, and you can pick up a number of cues and themes from that score in this one. Both magnificent westerns with stellar scores to match.
How The West Was Won is imo the best Western score ever written and certainly outshines the movie by leagues...
Well said and well put ! THANKS for a very perceptive comment !
@@Visvogl The score is fabulous, but the Movie was good too!
@@kearney2398 parts are brilliant, parts are mediocre and the last part is garbage
Great score from a master, thanks again, Fred.
I heartily concur !!

@@jubalcalif9100 Thank you!
One of the most beautiful scores in history. This is the first time i have heard of this beautiful music. Keep on going love this beautiful
Pretty cool isn't it !
One of Newman's very best, a mix of folksy and symphonic tones, adventurous, poignant, lovely.
actually a very good American suite. not considered serious music in some circles, but i believe it holds up well.✅😎✌️
Outstanding ! THANKS for sharing another great film soundtrack with us, Fabulous Fred ! I recall seeing this movie as a kid in a downtown theater when it was first released way back in the mid-60s ! CHEERS, Fantastic Frederic ! :-)
Faszinierender Film und faszinierende Musik. Danke fürs komplette Hochladen dieser Suite mit möglichst hoher Tonqualität!
MARAVILLOSA CREACION DE ALFRED. NO TIENE DESPERDICIO. GRAN BRILLANTES DE ORQUESTACION. BRAVO. MUY BUENA.
Ótimo filme, com uma linda música!
Omg. I just saw this movie. Had never heard of it until recently. McQueen came so close to being over run by those Bulls.
Ur YELLA! Finish me! Ur yella..........YELLA! WHAT an ending!!!
Wonderful composition of this highly talented composer of golden age.Alfred Newman used to be assistant to Great Charles Chaplin during thirties.👍👍👌
THIS was to be an Alan Ladd film after he did the .. Carpetbagger...
.but he passed away..so Steve Mc Queen......
That wouldn't have worked out nearly as good. Steve was better suited for this. Also, Ladd would have been too old at 52 ; Steve 35. This movie was Steve's.
A TRILHA SONORA DA NOVELA O TERCEIRO PECADO LINDA DEMAIS..
I think this and Papillon we're Steve McQueen's two best movies, both had great scores

Never forgot Martin Landau's high-pitched scream after Nevada stabs him in the cattle-yard. Sweet Revenge.
Hahaha
Indeed ! Martin Landau specialized in playing villians at the time (such as in Hitchcock's "North by Northwest").
The Newmans made good films great with their brilliant music.
Their distant cousin, Alfred E Neumann (whose branch of the family spelled the name differently) wasn't musically talented. He found his niche in the humor magazine field.
This is my new rdr2 soundtrack 🤠 thank you

Tries hard to be Elmer Bernstein. Fails miserably. Tries hard to to be a dozen other composers. Falls on his face.
I disagree this is a great score. One of my favorites. Emphasizes each theme in a very good Western.
