S1, while i understand the psychology trauma in this, the women can think clearly and understand that they are in a long term relationship and even marriage, but still want to have the emotional and later physical affair with him. And then blame everyone when their relationship is breaking. I believe that once the abuser is released, she will throw herself back to him, so OP did good with ending this.
