@@SailingKawai I am in Istanbul, Danielle (my wife) is in San Fran where we are from and Sea Bee is wintering near Dubrovnik. We plan to set sail south to Montenegro and Greece mid May and take our time to explore islands west and east of mainland Greece. We may bump into each other somewhere in Aegean. We are on TH-cam as well as on Instagram - keep in touch.

BUT! frekin sad on this vid...Every time one of your vids pops up its usually after Serap and I have had a few beers or a wine and we're setlin back to watch some telly great timing lol....Anyway hearing ya say y'all be on the hard for a little while breaks my heart knowing what we know now. Covid has definitely thrown a spanner in the works but hopefully be back next year. We are totally fine, healthy so pretty lucky really, what are your plans? I hope you guys are doing well :). @@SailingKawai Ahhh good to hear ya both healthy and happy. We had to move back home and sold the boat. We were worried Serap would lose her job as she's a travel agent. It was so stressful trying to get home. With our flights being cancelled a couple of times. We sold our vehicle, furniture and gave up the lease to our flat etc. Then because of the flights being cancelled were were stuck with nothing. We lived on friends couches for six months and had to ride a push bike to get around. Lol... So we decided we'd buy a house in a quite rural area near Hervey Bay and wait out this pandemic. Serap has joined the sailing club and goes racing with a few old chaps she's meet. She's loving it. It's so nice up here we are happy, lucky and reasonably healthy if I'm not hung over 😂 😂 Take care guys and if you ever want get away feel free to drop us a line you'd be welcome to come up and stay on the farm. Next time in Marmaris, is really worth a stop in Ciftlik at Deniz Restaurant. Fresh bread made in the wood fire oven by Mrs Durdan is just fantastic. Nice mooring, safe, water and electricity free but mostly the people. Hope we will meet at some point sailing in Meds waters. Greetings from Oxford :-)

Hey! Well the plan is early March, we can leave Australia, Trace and I have told our work places we finish on the 25th Feb so it's looking promising :). We can't wait to get back to Turkey!
Great video. I have a couple of questions. 1. Why did you choose that Marina? Is it cheaper to keep a boat on the hard in Turkey than other countries in the Med? 2. Why did you not return to your Yacht in 2020 or 2021? I think you can get out with permission from the worlds biggest jail but getting back is not so easy. Uncertain times for sure. Looking forward to your adventures when you finally escape.
Hi Peter, We chose Yacht Marina on price and due to our Nationality (Australian). The Shengen rule means we have to keep leaving certain countries every 3 months, Turkey allows us more options and Vat reset. We really didn't know how Covid was going to affect the sailing community in 2020 with many countries shutting their borders. This would have given us few options and we couldn't get vaccinated in Australia due to our age. We have our vaccinations booked in now so plan on getting permission and leaving early next year. We can't wait hahaha, hope that clears up a few things! Take care
@@SailingKawai Thanks for the reply which is very interesting. Turkey is not a Schengen country so that all makes good sense. I slipped back to Oz in January and had to wait till May to get fully Pfizered before heading back to Thailand. I knew it would be difficult to get Vaccinated here. Hopefully you won't need permission to leave if fully vaxed by Jan or Feb next year . The country has to open soon you would think. Good luck with it all and look forward to your future videos.
Wonder where and how you guys are…we fortunately got locked out of Oz and wintered in Kas from Feb last year….best decision we made not to get back to Oz as we have basically explored Turkey and beyond (by air and road n sea)…hope you get back to the boat real soon and enjoy the Med….
