Why I think Sourcefed ended.

- I didn't cover every little detail, but I talk about the main reason I think Sourcefed was cancelled. To explain it in more detail down here, I think Sourcefed was a risky business model. "SNL for TH-cam mixed with news". The point was for Sourcefed to be a stepping stone to greater things for the hosts. In theory, that sounds amazingly freeing. In practice, I think it's extremely difficult for an audience to accept. Plus straight up the old hosts are an incomparable package that absolutely kill it on screen every time. So take that, combine it with a parent company that doesn't really understand what's going on, then add a merger where the main goal is clearly to restructure and hit certain verticles, (sourcefed is a very hard brand to fit into one category), then mix in hosts who are still learning the ropes of presenting news, and trying their best to build chemistry with each other...you have yourself a big cancellation pie. I hold no ill will towards anyone or any company. As much as I wish it didn't happen, because I would've stayed at sourcefed as long as it existed, I understand the reason behind it.

I don't get why they can't just all group together and start their own channel? Unless they all wanted to do their own things anyways. Because otherwise, it seems very suspicious to me that the channels just got "cancelled" and probably shut down?.. I'm still putting money in that it's a deliberate prank but I'll probably just put about a dollar.

I think SourceFed ended because it was a crew of 40 maintaining a channel with 1.7 million subscribers.
Nathan Warrington Um there were 40 people working on FOUR CHANNELS that all got shut down. If you sell it like companies do, 40 employees between four channels of a combined 3.4 mil subscribers.
That still won't pay the bills, the viewership was too low and there were too many staff

I agree with you Steve. Really loved you on Sourcefed and SuperPanicFrenzy. Been watching Sourcefed for almost 5 years now, I just don't think the hosts had the chemistry the same as the original hosts did. After so many hosts leaving and joining it might have been too hard for you guys to build that chemistry and silliness between you guys. Most of the current hosts never played off of each other with their comedy so they just seemed boring. Really sucks though, this week is heartbreaking.
Thanks for introducing me to SourceFed, Steven. I discovered it through you when you joined SPF, and I've been loyal to it ever since. You're the reason I care so much, and I can't thank you enough.

Steven is probably the best youtuber out their. Perfect comedic times with the hard emotional parts. Perfectly mixed together. Well editing and camera angles as well. This goes for the videos at sourcefed as well. I honestly am gonna be very sad for this to stop.

This was the video that started it all. I was a sourcefed refugee and I just happened to stumble upon this. At that point I knew that if I was to subscribe to any of the host's channels, it would be to my little chicken boy. Now less than a year later, he and his crew became apart of let's play, and won a streamy. It really makes me proud for the SP7 crew and proud to be a fan. It also makes me think, what would've happened if Sourcefed didn't end. Would we still have the SP7 we see today or something completely different?
That secret handshake at the beginning was great. Give me more of that Seben Suptic you salt water taffy man.

6 years later and this still gives me the feels. I was an avid fan and regular watcher of Sourcefed, honestly saw them as a TH-cam SNL in a way; was also a fan of Philly D. This was a gut-punch, but also such a cathartic watch, especially at a time in my life when I was at a low point, in a valley so-to-speak. Even now knowing that SP7 ended due to creative burnout, I feel similarly in my own career as a brewer now years later and currently dealing with a messy break-up, it's still a powerful and cathartic watch.
So thank you, Suptic and all the rest, Alternative Lifestyle is a piece of art. And to folks who are having a hard time right now. Things will get better, and you will have another peak to climb, even if you can't see it at the moment.
Steven's gonna be fine his video creation and editing styles are pro. Just hate to think of all the others and the friendships that will suffer.

I know everyone generally takes a comedic and shitposty attitude around here (and it's great) but can we just recognise how fucking great Suptic's channel is with the camerawork, editing and music? It's got great comedic timing but is also incredible with editing and creating heartfelt moments and nice montages in between all the comedy, something a fair amount of other channels are missing.
Chris Green I really don't understand how Steven doesn't have more subscribers. I've been watching him since the Minecraft days and his content has always been unique and entertaining. I think if he does more videos like this and antisocial, And if he stops doing challenges, then he might reach 1 million subscribers by the end of the year.

Chris Green there's few channels like suptics, so I really appreciate his creativity and uniqueness.
So Kryoz popped up in my recommended videos and I watched one of his Poly Bridge videos and I was immediately hooked. Multiple episodes in, I hear a voice in the background... That voice sounded like Cib. After some research on Kryoz's Twitter page, i find a picture of him and think "hey, he looks familiar." I go back to this episode of Alternative Lifestyle and Kryoz is Cib's roommate.
Ben Mummert I was surprised when I first found out too. I found Kryoz through Smii7y. It's weird how almost all the TH-camrs I watch are connected in some way.
To anyone just starting to watch Steven's content outside of Sourcefed, I highly recommend the Boys Only Club podcast that Steven does with Reina. Those two are so fun to watch when they're on camera together, and I can't think of any other duo I'd rather see rip their own nose hairs out.

I remember when I first saw suptic. when Phil hired him. I thought he was a douche. but I continued watching. I eventually learned he wasn't a douche. he was just an awkward guy. and ever since the video of him buying a $300 shirt I have been a fan.
Bryzantine So I thought the same thing but I tend to think maybe too many crew members had that "dead pan" personality. I think Suptic was the most successful at it but it didn't work as well for the other hosts. It needed variety. A whole cast of sarcasm gets old fast and is unrelatable.
Time to rewatch the series that made me the person i am today and bawl my eyes out

I think your content has been the best it's ever been, the amount of effort is really paying off. I love how varied some of these can be. Funny but with a decent bit of emotion in them, it comes off really genuine.

It was on an upward path! I was a from the beginning viewer and I really felt the channels had a resurgence in the last few months, I was watching all the stories every day, instead of just the ones with topics that caught my eye. The 7 host between sourcefed and nerd were killing it. I think if given time it could have been back to its original glory.

It's challenging even as a smaller TH-camr to keep your content fresh, engaging, entertaining and attention grabbing. SourceFed has a lot of the right ingredients, however when you're owned by a bigger company (than being independent), it becomes a numbers game. It suddenly moves from entertaining an audience, to insuring you grow develop and maintain an audience (real work). It's as though your soul is being taken out and replaced with a de facto "work regiment" (grind). There was also the reasons that Phil sold the channel to begin with, but that's a whole other story. I wish all you guys well and my advice, stay INDEPENDENT.

Steven I immediately subscribed to your channel when you joined SourceFed and SPF was started. You and Reina had such great rapport and chemistry, then when it was cancelled I was devastated but I still had this channel to watch. Even when you went back to SF, the quality of your videos here only improved and got better, kudos on all that you do and here's to the future!

Your editing and humour and camerawork is on point, and you're so dang lovable (though really you always have been!), so you've definitely earned a new subscriber. Honestly, congrats on the 800k.
