Someone who knew Bobby personally in the 80s stated that Bobby told him that “I call your name” was written about Bobby’s boyfriend Tony!

LaToya was gorgeous before the plastic surgery!
I think Bobby was in love with her but her dad put an end to it because of his drug use.

Greg Williams did not write the majority of the lyrics of that song. It's not his writing style. I believe I Call Your Name did start out as a spiritual song. You can feel the spiritual anointing on the song. Plus Bobby and his family had a church and gospel music background.
And this deep dive by these two people in this video was no such thing. Latoya's songs sounded nothing like Switch's songs. I was a young woman in my early 20s and I had Switch II on vinyl. I now have it on cd. Latoya had one big hit during that time, "If You Feel The Funk". And it sounded nothing like Switch's songs.
