Thanks Mel. On P4N when in the details of the parkup, I could never find our how to find the map to the place!...Now with your kind help, I have to back up to the listing and I found the map link there. P4N could do to improve this...Cheers mate! From Varna in Bulgaria. Tony and Carolyn. We are Wheely Living 😊😊
Saw that lullingstone park up a couple of weeks ago when visiting the roman villa (summer 2022) . It is down a lane going to the villa and you just keep going. There is a car park nearby that is a pay car park but they shut at night. This park up is for people visiting the castle(says so on a sign) so it would seem fine to stay there and actually visit the castle thus supporting the historic building . It is a brilliant app.
that carpark is only a 5 min walk to the center of Tenby and beaches. Pop into the woodshop and say hello, I would like to thank you for vids and info, I'm half way through my own conversion and you've been a great help.
Awesome Mel thank you, will be watching this one several times to get the hang of the app and perfectly timed this weekend is our official on the road party Very informative vlog keep up the good work
Van Life With Betty Boondocker brilliant have a good time glad you like the app and found it useful I had a feeling it wasn’t that well known so just wanted to show how I use it 🤓🤙
Thanks for the heads up on this app Mel , As i'm based on the far north coast of Scotland there is very few parking spots i don't know of but when ever i head south into unknown territories ( south of Inverness ) it's always hit and miss finding parking ( Mainly misses )
Yes very nice. Looking at the map it gives you the same information as a good road atlas such as my AA one does! People need to stop relying so much on all this technology. Learn how to read a map instead. Then there will be less vehicles congesting smaller roads.
Hello Mel. Just stumbled across your channel. Some great tips, including this one. Have downloaded the App. I will be looking back at your older posts, so may have some comments and questions. Cheers. Kev
I parked in Belgium did a late ferry, great spot until the Eurostar train thundered past 15 feet away. My bed became very messy frightened the life out of me. I will now google earth it.
Hi, thank you for your helpful video! Is there a way to eliminate or rule out places that you don't like, so they don't come up in your future searches?
Seen a few of these, sometimes think to take these as a general guide but use google earth street view to find the odd places that might be available. I wouldn't stay anywhere more than one night.
I've downloaded the app and it's great but I've not done the Google earth bit or the map features which I will try out I tend to put in the area near me part of it etc but it's a great app
Heya 👋🏽🇦🇺. I actually downloaded the app but the only one within 100k of me was a car park and I know it’s illegal to stay overnight there😂. Well that’s all from me. 😂. Catcha in yours or mine next time 😂😂🇦🇺👋🏽
Hi Mel. AWESOME find buddy, thanks for sharing. Ive just downloaded and was wondering if its been updated since this video?? Its still great but I cant seem to be able to drop a pin and view street map??? Any ideas where Im going wrong. ?? Thnx again budd.
Thank you for the positive feedback . Not all google maps are covered by street view unfortunately. It if it is as soon as you drop a pin you should see a small preview bottom left side of your screen tap on this and it will open street view 👍🤓
Cheers Mel, your a Gent. Not sure if its because Im using an android phone ( im no techie)??? But i sort of got there in the end. It definitely different to yours tho ( your vid shows your is a lot easier). I need to play with it a little more. Thanks again buddy. 👍👍
@@BigVanSmallWorld I think it's actually extinct now. lol. It's a Propex Heatsource 1600. It was working but now it's not. I get a red light which blinks twice which according to the website, is to do with it not getting enough gas. I got half a cylinder though so it's not that there isn't enough. I'll have to have a look at some point after I've finished mi cladding. Oh cladding, what a joy that is...😭. I hate the carpet up the walls/on ceiling look but I can now understand why people do it!! Lol
Very useful for many people I am sure, but I think there's a great danger that the widespread use of social media and such apps will unintentionally make free, discrete and untroubled over-nighting in vans increasingly problematic the more widely they are adopted. A shame as it's a great idea. I already know of quite a few traditional stopovers which have been used for decades, (some for centuries!) now strictly forbidden after being popularised on social media. Despite the current "van-life" trend, free-camping is seen by many as free-loading and seeing people getting something for free is often resented. Even villages where the occasional traveller stopping the night might previously have been welcomed are having to act to prevent their little car parks being turned into camp sites or even worse, into rubbish dumps.
Also what if someone plays a prank, uploading places to park that are forbidden. Park up, take a photo of their van ( without registration in view ) with backdrop of castle or stately home, drive off and upload ).......Harry comes along after seeing free overnight parking in app, pulls up and climbs into bed to be woken by a loud knock on the door. Even Mel said he wouldn't feel right in a couple of the places that popped up. Someone could be trying to annoy the land owner or simply pulling a prank. Seeing other campers or propper signs in car parks is legit though. I have a few apps and cross reference them together. I can see a big clampdown coming the more van life becomes popular and trendy, you only have to look what happened to Gypsies, Tinkers, Travellers and the likes. I'll enjoy it while I can and pack it in if or when it turns sour. I don't mind short day trips anyway, I can still get a nice view, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and be toasty and warm plus be home in 15 mins 😃
Thanks Mel. Interesting app for the mainstream weekend warriors, but may detract from the noble art of finding a spot, or as the Americans call it "boondocking"
