- Canberra, Australia is underrated!
Our journey to get home to Adelaide at an affordable price has had some pretty great perks. We got to spend a day in Sydney before renting a car and driving to Canberra to make this canberra vlog!
We'd heard that Canberra can be perceived as a boring place with not much happening but we were glad to be able to see for ourselves. Join us in the Canberra Vlog as we drive around see all the Canberra must-see sights!

Yep Canberra is a great place. I've always thought it was more like a cross between Washington DC and Ottawa than Vancouver.
Ooh haven’t been to Ottawa yet!
Agree that it’s a great place though 😍
We love going to Canberra, so much to do and lots of it is free. Next time try bentspoke brewing. The pie and sausage roll looked great.
Ooh! Great recommendation - hopefully we will be back sometime in 2024 to try it out 🤞
have a lovely holidays guys, thanks for this year full of inspiration 😍
love this Australia series! 💛
Yay! Thank you so much! Bring on a year full of close to home adventures in 2024 🎉
Hope you have a lovely festive period ❤️❤️
If you ever come back to Canberra, you should check out Screen Sound (aka The Film and Sound Archives). Also Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve southwest of Canberra. You can include that in a day trip with Cotter Dam, Tidbinbilla Deep Space Centre and Corin Dam. Corin Dam is quite deep in the Brindabella range and the mountains are often snow capped in winter.
Oh awesome! Thanks for the advice. I'd say we'd definitely find our way back to Canberra at some point!
Once again a GREAT video, Loved the “drive over title” editing in the beginning, looked so cool 👍🏻
Merry Christmas and a happy New year to both of you, to your family and to rest of my co followers ☃️🎅🏼
Ps. and yes, there was cake involved in watching this video 🧁🍰☕️
😆 haha Merry Christmas, enjoy the cake! 😀
What a gorgeous city! I am ready to pack and go… excellent content as usual. Looking forward to more of Australia in your upcoming videos.
Yay! We couldn’t recommend it more! ❤️
Thank you! Bring on Aussie (and surrounds) adventures in 2024 🎉🎉
Great video. Lovely couple!!
Thank you - You are so kind! ❤️
Camper and go to Tasmania in sept/oct and come back March. They send 400 odd so heaps available and you can add days for $20. Immovable is the best. Darwin relocations are obviously before and after the dry season
Ooohhh that's a good idea. We'll keep our eyes out for ones in Darwin when the seasons change!
Love the camera work, fam. Keep it up ❤
Thank you! ❤️❤️
Thanks for the video. We’ll be living in Canberra for 6 months next year so it’s great to learn that you wouldn’t mind living there - as we’re not big city people either!
Woo! You'll love it, plenty of cool things to do!
Sounds great! Do you have any recommendations for a long term stay? 3-6 months?
Great video, you had lunch near my place! I moved to Canberra a year ago after living in Sydney my whole life. I much prefer the quieter small city pace.
Thank you 🥰
Must have been such a change moving from Sydney to Canberra!
@@JordanandEmily the friendly people and lack of traffic jams made it a lot easier 😀
It really would! The traffic must be worlds apart 😅
Canberra has many good things about it and that's not all touristy stuff depending on your age and interests. I lived there between 1980-1995 from Melbourne.
Amazing! We had such an awesome day there
Hi Jordan & Emily, Another great video, can see the work you put into the multiple angle shots. Started watching your channel before going on a six week trip to Colombia (got back a month agp). Was a nice surprise to then see you visit the Old Bus Depot Markets in Kingston given I live 50 metres away from there! Also, next time you show an official Australian Coat of Arms, you could draw attention to the fact that the kangaroo is male... if you look for 'em, you will find 'em... and never be able to not see them again...
😄 oh my, that's amazing haha if we come accross another coat of arms in our travel we'll definitely be highlighting that little fact! Thank you!
So excited to watch your Tasmania series!🤩
😊
My brother owns Roy Jr! He is stoked to see this video ❤️
That's awesome!! 😄 😊 great place!
Wonderful video. Love Canberra. Thank you.
Thanks for watching! 😊
Well done! Canberra, imo is one of the best cities in the world.
Its so cool there!!
Lol I love how it was Jordan this time that kept getting distracted "ooh bird, oooh puppy". I love Canberra but I don't know if I could live so far from the coast. I love the ocean
They have the lake 😄 but we agree, I think ocean is needed!
Canberra, home of the Brumbies 🐎 🇦🇺
❤️
There are stacks of markets in Canberra on different days. My two favs are Jamo Markets and Fyshwick Market on Sunday.
Others are The Little Burley, Northside/ Southside Farmers, Handmade, Hartley Hall, Tuggeranong Homestead, Capital Fresh Food, Haigh Park and Old Bus Depot that you went to.
so good! Canberra keeps surprising us! haha
Lots of excellent info and nicely filmed 👍
Thank you!
Hi Jordan and Emily, I have never been to Australia so it was nice to experience the Capital Canberra, through this video. Being from the USA we always see Deer Crossing signs but I must say it is so strange seeing Kangaroo Crossing. I guess that is a real thing with all of the Kangaroos there. Since you mentioned about relocating of cars for Rental Companies they have really good deals for Cruises as well if you catch a one way relocation Cruise. There was a Travel Blogger that took a Cruise from Seattle Washington all the way to Sydney Australia, a 26 day cruise, for only $1,000. US dollars.
Hi Ben! We almost took that same cruise home but the flights to get from south america to Seattle were too much! We do have a one way cruise to New Zealand soon though!
It's definitely a real thing. There were hundreds on the reserve behind my parent's house : )
Maybe the Emu was added to to the coat of arms for terms of losing the Emu war, lol.
omg 😂😂 this should be what we tell people for sure!
omg i've heard about sandoochie! its on my list next time im in canberra (which is hopefully soon!). capital region farmers market at the EPIC racecourse in Mitchell is a great one too if you're ever back in town, more focused on fresh produce however
Oh thanks for the recommendations, we really hope we can get back to Canberra one day in the next year or so!
Definitely a valid comparison between DC and Canberra, Huge % of Govt employees and a central area that contains nothing to do after 5pm!!.(That's not a bash lol)
Hope you gave your families an awesome surprise when you got back to Adelaide!
😂 so true! We weren’t out in the city past then but could totally see this
Hey Michael, they certainly did surprise us, they came home a week earlier & had organised everything with Emily’s sister who surprisingly didn’t let slip their plans. It was the best surprise I could’ve had as I missed them both so much
I love Canberra i been here 10years just came back this year in Feb but I miss my Canberra weather nd atmosphere but the immigration rules are hard that time 😢😢
People rag on Canberra however we love it as a short holiday destination 🎉
Agree!! It’s such an awesome city
Eating my breakfast and enjoy your vlog ....
😄 hope it's yummy!
so smart, relocation drivers........is there a time limit from point a to point b?
Yes! But you can usually add a day or two for a bit of money!
Ok, so Canberra is Australia's capital but Sydney is the most important city, right? A bit like Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland?
Guess it depends what you think most important means
Most people probably think of Sydney when they think of Australia though!
@@JordanandEmily sorry, I meant its most popular city
Canberra is the political capital and Sydney is basically the business capital, kind of like Washington DC and New York
I'm lucky enough to live here. Good vid.
😊
Yep the best city I have lived in.
Good to hear! ❤️ it is for sure beautiful city
Thumbrule ! Never bash a place without visting it. Canberra is cool. low key but has all you need.
-Yours,
Canberranian
100% agree!
Haha Emily is totally a different person once she gets that Aussie coffee on her! 😅
so true 😂😂
Is it easy being a vegetarian in Australia especially Canberra?
Yes! From my knowledge vego and even vegan is rather easy in Aus ☺️
The big lake you were at was Lake Burleigh Griffin, named after Walter Burleigh Griffin, the winner of the competition to design Canberra, fun fact for you Jordan. Canberra does get a bad wrap, more than likely because of all the politicians and not much happening after 5pm. Adelaide gets a bad wrap because it’s supposedly has a bucket load of churches but in reality there’s not, and supposedly not much happening after 5pm here as well, but I think over the past few years there’s a lot that happens in Adelaide after 5pm. The war memorial is a must see at least once but even better to go more, there’s always something you didn’t see last time. But there is one thing that would be really cool to do in Canberra & that is to stay at Jamala Wildlife Lodge, where your room is in with the lions, giraffes, meerkats or even have the huge aquarium as a backdrop in your accommodation, only thing is, it’s pretty expensive. Good one you two. Miss you both, love you, mum.xx
Lol you started in Queanbeyan
Haha you caught us
Cue Ironic algorithm of Trivago ,for Dramatic pause.
😄
check out Ottawa Canadas capital
We wish! Honestly we want to see every bit of Canada we can haha
@@JordanandEmily I want to see more of Australia
Nobody lives in the tourist area. Next time you are in the city, take a look into the suburbs and dig deeper.
Which suburbs!?
@@JordanandEmilyLonsdale Street in Braddon, Woolley Street in Dickson, Kingston Foreshore, Haig Park markets on Sunday, Farmers market @ Epic on Saturdays, Jardine Street in Kingston and probably many more that others can suggest 😊
