As an American, I felt the deserved amount of shame when ours was the only intro with a voice over to help focus idiot viewers to things they'd soon have explained once again in duplicate.
Nah, I'm pretty sure the Belgian version also had a "helpful" voice over.

It also was only 30 minutes so the introductions were shorter. It's still a shame and a shit show though.
The Californian one was obviously not up to the level of the Nordic countries and New Zealand, but it wasn’t too bad in the end, once I got used to the one pointlessly shouting and swearing angrily all the time.
Taskmaster New Zealand is awesome. I'm so happy they got a second series. I hope they'll get many more.

I haven't attempted it yet, I am too fond of the British version to give it a fair go but I haven't heard good things either

I love it. Series 1 was fun (I loved "the people's champion") and series 2 is, amazingly, a lot better. I haven't seen such raw enthusiasm in a long time in the UK series. And I loved UK series 11.
Taskmaster NZ is amazing. The first season had a clear favourite (even tho it always seemed like the Taskmaster himself was against them in the first few episodes) however the second season (airing right now!) is much more dynamic and I have no clue who's going to actually win this one
@@aarondunn6759 I was in the same boat as you; fearful that it was in some way going to mar or taint the original. I can't speak for any other international versions, but I promise you: Taskmaster NZ is absolutely, 100% worthy of your time. You won't regret it!
I really like Taskmaster NZ as they have completely original tasks. Also Paul captures the assistant role perfectly.
They were contractually obliged to after the Nordic ones had reused so many, but in all honesty I don’t mind seeing the duplicated ones. It really shows the difference between national cultures.

I've heard the US Taskmaster didn't go over too well. Seeing how it was the only one that needed a voice over kinda confirmed it for me.
What they should have done was bring Greg Davies over and that voiceover didn't help either

No. They talk to Trösti the Icelandic fireman
And the Finns have to talk to an Estonian. It's terrific!
English proficiency in the Scandinavian countries is over 80%...

And the Norwegians speak to a Finn. They basically all speak to nationalities that they’re familiar with but sound funny/incomprehensible to them.
This video really proves that Alex is a genius twice over, as not only has show been adapted so often, they all use his theme, so he not only gets residuals, he also gets royalties for every episode too.

Well the British and US ones share an Alex, and the British and Kiwi ones share a Greg Davies (albeit in a prize task) - they're canon at the very least.

Taskmaster NZ and Taskmaster AU share a house. Lloyd Langford, Taskmaster AU contestant, was also in the Taskmaster pilot/stage show.
Al Pitcher, also from the stage show, was a one episode guest on Swedish Taskmaster, and David Sundin (from Swedish Taskmaster) showed up in a task for Danish Taskmaster.
Mel's Tugtemaster would fit in well with the likes of Stormester, Suurmestari, Kongen Befaler, Judge Judy, and Het Grootste Licht.
The Americans just fucked it up completely, but after the original UK Taskmaster it's TaskmasterNZ. That version is brilliant

@@acelyra3872 Lisa should've been the Taskmaster not Reggie, still would've been bad but better. They did 20 minute episodes too, Alex should not have agreed to that.
@@JA-sb2ql Completely agree! From the get-go Lisa and Alex had great chemistry and it was obvious he found her hillarious no matter how harsh she was towards him. She would have been an amazing Taskmaster.

Of all the ones I've seen (se, fi, no, us, nz), I think the Norwegian one is the most insane. But damn, the intro makes me want to see the Spanish ones!
Spanish intro is the most interesting one, but I wish it showed what the show was about - the tasks. People aren't doing any in the intro, and that's part of its appeal for me.
I like Kongen Befaler, Bäst i Test, Taskmaster and Taskmaster NZ. They are all really good.
The Danish one is good too, with one of the best taskmaster/assistant pairings. The Finnish assistant is also hilarious but the taskmaster not as good.
New Zealand's version and Norway's Kongen Befaler are my favourites

TaskmasterNZ is so good. Each of the 3 series have not let me down, thank god they have been funded for a 4th series. Taskmaster Australia is pretty good too. I have watch a few of the Finnish version and it was pretty good too.

I wouldn't recommend it, to be honest. I live in Spain and I watched it with the wife, and it was a little tedious. They did most of the same tasks as the UK one, but it lasts for two hours. There's also a lot of talking and wasting time making it a bit of a slog. It's no surprise that it didn't get recommissioned. Anabel Alonso was ok as "La Jefa", but nothing special.
I'd recommend the NZ one if you haven't seen it yet. That one is up there with the UK one in quality, and they have all new tasks too.

Also, i'm not surprised it wasn't good, I don't why but I didn't expect a good Taskmaster from Spain.
I don't remember the channel it was on. I only found it after stumbling on it one day online, and seeing that it was available on demand!

It's such a shame that the US one didn't go well. Reggie Watts would have been a way better contestant than Taskmaster, and the contestants didn't seem to understand the tone of the show at all.

The belgian version was very mixed in many ways, on one side they casted Gert Verhulst as taskmaster (excellent choice) ruth beekmans as assistant (also a good choice)
On the other side we have the contestants who are all talented but also a bit to safe, there was no wildcard and none of them could bring good banter in the studio sections. Its taskmaster without edges
Meehhhh that sucks then, but that completely captures the Belgian spirit and attitude over all then.... but yeah it sucks as a version of Taskmaster that carefully has all those things mentioned well balanced and diverse in every series or season usually.

The Finnish (I think that's the one) looked a little crazy.
I don't really like the Finnish taskmaster, but that's mostly because I don't think Jaakko Saariluoma has nearly as much charisma or wit as Greg. Still a pretty good show
Aw, I didn't realize Ron Funches was on the US one. I'm now caught between adoring Funches and having heard how bad the US Taskmaster was.
Ron was my favorite! He had so much fun. Too bad Comedy Central made it 21 minutes instead of 45.

So many American shows just talk over the opening credits - it's as if they're admitting that they have to explain the show to the viewer as soon as possible just so they don't switch off before the titles have even finished...

David Fernández from the Spanish edition is perhaps better known internationally as Rodolfo Chikilicuatre. He represented Spain at Eurovision 2008 with a parody reggaetón song called “Baila el Chikki Chikki”. It’s art 😂

Just based on the intros and my own experience with the UK and Norwegian version of the show, it seems to me like the NZ version just absolutely nailed the concept. I hate the voice over in the US one and I'm not a fan of what they did for the spanish version.

I don't agree. While whole ting was a mess, and 20min per episode is not remotely enough, contestants were ok. You have to remember that they didn't have charismatic, tall motherfucker with ivory hair to guide them trough program. Instead Reggie sat there doing nothing, so everyone was little lost. As someone in comments said, it is a shame Lisa was not appointed Taskmaster as she has great chemistry with Alex.
