Fairly certain that the narrator was Len Martin who used to read the football results on Grandstand

This is from the dark days of entertainment, before we knew better, when baby chimps were treated like children then, when they became adolescent and many times stronger than their human keepers, feeling human but put in a cage for the rest of their lives...if they were lucky. They were well loved at Twycross but many entertainment biz chimps lived out their lives in medical testing laboratories, some of them piteously signing to the scientists.
Twycross CEO in 2014: "Chimps find it difficult to be chimps when they have been reared with people…
They have not learned normal chimp etiquette and so when we have to re-introduce them, these animals become very aggressive and can kill people… We have seen many instances in the USA where these chimps have turned on their owners and that is to be expected...
I absolutely would not use chimps in entertainment anymore. They live until their thirties and forties now and we need to give them the best life possible; and that means giving them the best start possible, which is being with other chimps."

Agreed. Of course I loved watching these, I loved the Shamu shows too, but we know better now.
I think it’s okay to have liked it but know better… they are wild. They’re meant to have their own autonomy, and our ways can’t really provide them with that. They humor *us* by cooperating, I think!
      Love these historical videos though.
