CKP means Chandraseniya Kayashta Prabhu. We originally come from Kashmir. Our forefathers were from the kingdom of Raja Chandrasen and lived on the banks of the Kayashta river. Prabhu means we ruled over that area.
In one of the many exoduses taken place in the last 1000 due to Islamic atrocities, we settled in Konkan and merged with the Konkani lifestyle. We are primarily fishitarians as we lived in the banks of the river in Kashmir and also Kinkan is on the sea coast.
Our gravies are always watery compared to the thick Malwani cuisine recipes as we do not use coconut but use coconut milk.

ckp are originally from Bihar. They were like clerks in Mughal and other King darbar. They knew writting and keeping record like bramhan and thats why they always have to compete with Bramhins to get position in Darbar. Some CKP's converted to Islam also. C.K. Thakre who was the father of late Bal thakre has written books giving account of historical feud between CKP and Bramhin in Maharashtra.

One portion of fried Bombil and 2 pcs of Surmai fry cost Rs. 850/-. This is too much for a place like this. The Bombil (Gatgate) fry was just okay. The Surmai was stale and tough to chew. Moreover, the place is not exactly clean and doesn't look hygienic. Can't say I was very impressed. Wasn't worth going all across the city for this. Just to motivate the place, one may visit this place once.
