- The New Orleans Saints got to work at their rookie minicamp this past weekend, so who put their best foot forward? On the latest episode of the Audacy original podcast Inside Black & Gold, Saints sideline reporter Jeff Nowak and WWL Sports Director Steve Geller break down what they saw out at rookie camp, including an early look at Spencer Rattler, who certainly looks the part. We also dive into why Taliese Fuaga is starting out at left tackle, how Klint Kubiak’s less “verbose” offense could make things faster and simpler, the new kickoff work kicking off and a lot more.
0:00 - Segment 1: What to Make of Saints Rookie Injuries & Taliese Fuaga at Left Tackle
... The New Orleans Saints rookie class got on the field this past weekend for their first minicamp, well, most of them. Here’s what to know about the three draft picks (Kool-Aid McKinstry, Jaylan Ford and Josiah Ezirim) who didn’t take the field in front of the media, and what to make of first round pick Taliese Fuaga getting in work at left tackle. Also: We update the status of renovations and more.

31:41 - Segment 2: Saints Rookie Minicamp Takeaways: Spencer Rattler Sure Looks the Part
... Yes, we’re here to talk about Spencer Rattler, and the 5th round pick got off to a good start at New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp. We break down his performance, as well as a handful of other players we thought stood out in the early going.
50-36 - Segment 3: Klint Kubiak’s Saints Offense Has Fewer Words. Here’s What That Means.
... The New Orleans Saints under Sean Payton had notoriously long play calls, and when Drew Brees was running the show that wasn’t much of an issue. But now? It’s been past time for a change, and that will happen this season with pared-down play-calling language that was already on display in the early goings. We dive into what all that means, and also the new kickoff work that we saw for the first time this weekend, with insight from special teams coach Darren Rizzi.

James skrimetta should be running wwl sports.
Would love to hear your constructive feedback. Either way, proud of you for this take.
I don't listen to Nowak too often, but I thought he did just fine, stayed too the end anyway. 😊
Appreciate that
Our running game is going to be way better this season I mean significantly better with two key additions the offensive coordinator kubiak and our number one draft pick offensive lineman that is a beast of a run blocker
I do believe in AK... New plays and opportunities Will show the everyone!!
Ak is a baller, we just jad to revamp the oline and reduce his touches to keep him healthy, added rb and wr depth should help that
Got dat poor man’s Desmond ridder 😂😂😂
No beard Jeffrey is much more intelligent then the last guy with the beard.
I'll let him know
Nah, being in the beard club gives a 20 iq boost WHODATT
You guys have been rocking lately. What's up with the rugby balls. They are larger than a NFL football, I believe, so what was the idea?
Most likely a drill that either Keith Williams or Danarius McGee brought from somewhere else. At some point we'll ask about it, but yea, I'd guess it has something to do with the balls being heavier.
Certain Rugby balls are heavier/bouncier and require more grip strength to catch. I've read about this being implemented before in football camps. It supposedly makes handling regular footballs easier.
Over the mic it sounds like you're saying Fuanga not Fuaga
I am, that’s the correct way to say it.
AK... BG...WHO DAT 🏉🎺🥁📯☂️
Ram is done...get over it.
Please don't take #2 Spencer. That number has been bad luck.
That number 2 look good on a saints jerseys it’s kinda iconic for the saints at QB I was hoping he take it
Steve needs a Chiclet between his front 2 teeth

Those rookies are getting coached up at 28:48 and beyond
Did y'all really have to talk about the cafeteria for 10 minutes#who dat!!!
Went back and checked. We got into the renovation subject (which also included info on California practices, etc.) at the 4:20 mark and got out of it at 9:20. I didn't want to talk about it for too long, but it did seem relevant enough to spend a bit of time on.
