Many Thanks for sharing the video, a lovely days spearfishing you have had. Some nice shots on some good fish, squid and scallops, eating well! Cheers for sharing the adventure! Have a lovely weekend, Dive safe, have fun! 🤿🐟😁👍
Nice vid and great catch all in all. The kayaker's heart skipped a beat perhaps. But that's what happens when you paddle right into someone else's bouy😅
Thank you buddy! I'm sure you recognise that lobster spot - you took me there when we went out on your boat, many, many years ago! I always think of you when I go there 💕 Did you ever see any big squid when you were over here? You're probably the most knowledgeable person in the world on North Wales spearfishing so if anyone had seen them, I guess it would be you! Personally, I'd never seen one before, or heard of anyone spearing one.
Nice haul there mate! Love that you nearly got run over by a sea kayaker who was oblivious about your presence 😂😂 Beautiful conditions/ location and a nice boat to if I do say! I've not been out in weeks now😭 hopefully getting back in next weekend 💪🤙
Thank you buddy! I was so stoked with the squid, I watch a lot of Australian spearos and am always super jealous of them being able to spear squid, I never dreamed I'd see one in Wales. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a video of one being speared in the UK. I know people catch them on rod and line down South, so they can't be that rare, just not seen one being speared. I had a couple of trips out last month, will hopefully get out later this week - there's always a spot for you on the boat if you ever venture up to this part of the country!
@@BR0SE1DON @BR0SE1DON The squid was an awesome catch! I have only seen one other video (Daniel Mann's) a few years back where he caught one about the same size. Other than that yours is the only one I've seen of someone spearing one in the UK. Thanks man I will take you up on that in the future, I've definitely got a dive booked in for Sunday and a weekend in Pembrokeshire at the end of the month! After July I'll probably have some time - we should sort something!
It’s nice to see someone make videos where I spearfish. The shallow reef you dive can be very productive for crab and lobster; I know it well. Did you shoot the squid there? I shot a squid on a shallow reef between Hafan y Môr and Criccieth.
@@SimonBurn-r1m hey Simon, interesting to hear others have seen squid - was it this year? The one in the video was shot off the end of Porth Ceiriad, but I did see others off Abersoch and the shallow reefs you mentioned. I saw them all on the same day. I’ve not seen them before nor since! Apart from a few shore dives over the years, I’ve not gone in the direction of Hafan y Mor - I did try a couple of time this year but I had a lot of back luck with the weather. Is there anything decent down that way?
@ I’ve never seen squid off the Llyn before, nor have I heard of anyone else spotting them. I shot mine in May 2023. The week before, I shot a cod off one of the reefs near Hafan y Môr, so I was scouting new areas looking for another cod when I came across the squid. That area is quite barren, and I wouldn’t recommend it. I didn’t get to do any boat diving this year, so I didn’t have the chance to try that spot again, but I’ll give it another shot next season. 🤞
@@SimonBurn-r1m Well that's funny, I got mine in May too! Never heard of anyone seeng them before - I guess they were in for short breeding period? Very cool to see and actually catch one. Out of interest, what did yours taste like? I made mine into squid rings and fried it, I was actually really disappointed, it was super tough and rubbery, regardless of how long I cooked it for. I've heard that freezing it first can really help. Amazing to hear you got a cod! I know Dario Deli had one off the Ceiriad end of Hells Mouth years ago but I've not heard of another. If you're still boatless next season, you're more than welcome to join me - always keen to have someone to dive with 👍🏼
Thanks Jamie! It’s nice to finally have a ‘proper’ boat, opens up a ton of new spots, makes diving soooo much easier! Hopefully lots more good trips to come this summer 👌🏼
@@BR0SE1DON boat dives definitely allow more areas to be explored on a single trip. I’ve not seen squid 🦑 in the day yet, that was very awesome to see.
@@Jamiedays massively mate, I’ve had a couple of inflatables in the past, which for the money, have been absolutely brilliant fun. It does feel nice to have a boat where I don’t have to balance on the tubes though! I’m still stunned by the squid, I’ve never heard of them in North Wales, I didn’t think we got them up here. One swam past me earlier in the day at a different mark so they were definitely about in numbers. I have to say, it’s probably my best shot ever, quite a small target and I absolutely kebabed it!! 😂
Thank you buddy, I appreciate that! It’s an amazing place under there, if you’re able, I’d thoroughly recommend you get a mask and snorkel and take a look for yourself, you don’t need to go deep, there’s plenty to see, even in the shallows!

Great catch love scallops, keep the squid, pity the lobster was little under size, great vid 👍

Thank you! I did give the kayaker a bit of a fright - I couldn't resist! He hadn't seen me and thought my bouy was a lobster pot marker 😅
@@BR0SE1DON haha! at least you were humble and swam up behind him and not in front of him😅
