Imagine hearing this at the Olympic Games and seeing the Imperial Banner flying high with the Kaiser being there greeting people and holding a speech! ❤️🤍🖤
Friedrich III was an interesting figure. He was an active military commander, his timely arrival at Königgrätz secured Prussian victory and he later scored number of victories against the French. Yet he disliked war and treated his enemies humanely. He also spent a lot of time on Britain, and even represented his mother-in-law, queen Victoria in some ceremonial duties and social functions.
Very interesting and welcome addition to anthems on YT. Up til now, the only recording of this anthem I have heard [first on CD, then many times on YT] is a postwar vocal version, which is good but a little too on the oktoberfest oompah side. OF course one could just listen to any instrumental of God Save the Queen or My Country, 'tis of Thee and sing the German words. This recording sounds like it was a deliberate attempt at a "Variations" on the anthem, which was a respectable classical music genre, with extensive riffs rooted in the German march tradition. I enjoyed every second. Thanks for posting!
I'm a bit surprised that no previous comments have really picked on this already, but---surprise, surprise--the key melody of the German Empire's national anthem as played here turns out to be identical to Great Britain's "God Save the Queen" (or King, depending on the gender of the monarch in London at any given time). Perhaps it's no surprise, since Britain's Windsor family monarchs largely originated out of German nobility and were very closely related to the German Imperial family prior to WW I.
@@arthurbarber7546 Well before the Great War of course. Plus the invasion of Belgium wasn’t supposed to be an “invasion” and or occupation but a pass through to get to Frances back door to defeat them swiftly. In reality though the Schliffen plan was simply an outdated war plan for the time, and the invasion of Belgium should never have happened.

To think that this year marks 150 years since the German Empire was formed and Germany was born wish the empire comes back with all the other Germanic royalty as it used to be in the empire with other nobles

He probably won't, unfortunately, as youtube perceives Erika as offensive and hate speech because of its WW2 background. The video would be removed instantly, and he might receive a strike as well.

If Hindenburg restored the Kaiser instead of appointing Hitler, that would’ve happened in 1936

Nice of you to include Fredrick III, not a lot of people talk about him because of his short reign.

But it did happen. Germany spent all of WWI denying atrocities and all of WWII proving them to be true.
