    My alarm was going off randomly while the car was locked. Does anyone even want an alarm anyway? Disconnect the sensor that is setting the alarm off. Skip to 1:30 to see how and where to disconnect the hood sensor. Also skip to 2:25 for some basics about how the alarm works and a sign that you have a bad sensor.
    This is on a 2004 Honda Pilot. This should be the same for the 2003-2008 Pilots, probably the Odyssey, maybe the Accord and other models as well.

    It's 4:15 am, 2016 Pilot alarm is going off waking up the neighborhood. I thought it was a possible burglar. I lock again with key FOB. Car alarm goes off again! This time I go outside and notice the car is spazzing (noises from driver panel, lights on, alarm goes off again) when I lock the doors with key FOB. Drive around, same thing when I turn off the car. Found this video and saved the night as I believe it was the faulty hood latch sensor! THANK YOU for making this video, seems to have saved my night.

    This started happening to me at 1am. Happened a few times & decided I needed to fix this ASAP. I disabled the alarm wuth the key & then disconnected the hood sensor and cleaned the male and female connector with electronics cleaner spray (same spray used to clean mass air flow sensors). Let it dry and put it back together. I also disconnected all 4 door sensors (the push button switch that gets triggered when u open & close a door). This pretty much solved the issue. I also sprayed all around the hood latch. Just Incase the trigger mechanism was dirty. My Ridgeline is a 2017.

    • @aztatude

      **Update**
      The alarm started going off again. It's def the hood latch sensor. I went and got a new hood sensor which is attached to the hood latch. It's about $60. Replaced it right after leaving the dealership. There's 3 bolts holding the hood latch & you'll have to disconnect a spring & the cable for the hood lever to swap out the hood latch. This solved the issue.

    I have a 2016 Pilot and there was a recall on the hood latch. Ever since Honda fixed it, my car has been alarming when locked. I took it in to the dealership today to disconnect the sensor, and they said that wasn't possible. They want me to spend $300 on a new switch. Will this work on a 2016 and can a mechanical idiot woman like m do it? I'm set to travel from Louisiana to Canada andi can't have it alarming all night at hotels and I sure can't leave ot unlocked! Help!

    2011 CRV alarm went off at 4am this morning. Caught a few z's and here I am at 6am already understanding the issue thanks to some forum posts and your video. After unlocking the car to silence the alarm, the lights were not flashing when locking with fob. I checked the rear hatch first - no change. Then I opened the hood and let it slam shut, after which the lights blink upon locking. It's been a very humid week already and the remnants of Hurricane Florence just passed through here in PA. Still wondering if I should unplug or replace the switch to avoid this issue from happening again.

    Ok, this has been happening on my 2017 Ridgeline too. Weird thing is, it's not an everyday thing but only seems to happen when there's big swings of outside temperature. A few days ago, I sprayed the crap outta the hood latch with a silicone based lubricant thinking that the switch that closes this sensor might be sticking. That fixed it for a few days but it went off again this morning. Tomorrow I'll try to disconnect it and see what happens.

    • @map7463
      @map7463 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you figure out what caused the issue? I have a 2017 Ridgeline too and same thing happened just last night for the first time Disconnecting the hood latch sensor allows you to lock the vehicle but the alarm does not arm. If this is a switch/ sensor issue I'm guessing its either the hood sensor since its the only one exposed to hot and cold or the driver door sensor since it gets the most wear. One of them is likely loosing contact at night. I would appreciate it if you could let me know what solved the issue. Just disconnecting the hood sensor isnt really a solution. Thanks.

    i just had this problem with alarm going off on 04 pilot, but found a better solution at least until i can troubleshoot it. start the engine after alarm going off you can look at the icon that shows which door is open. my faulty sensor is the rear hatch, so can't easily disconnect that in freezing cold @ 2 am. my key does not work in the manual door lock on the driver side (other problem with vehicle i knew about but decided it wasn't worth fixing since i have a good working keyless entry system) so i went to the passenger side door from the outside, and clicked the lock/unlock button to lock all the doors, and then closed the door, checked the alarm led on the drivers door and it was NOT blinking. so the car is locked WITHOUT the alarm on. better fix for now until i can troubleshoot the rear sensor. first day of snow in michigan this season, so very suspicious of a humidity issue.
