Just outstanding, that Al solo starting around 43:53 is probably the best melodic and straight creative drum solo I have heard period.

Herbie has shown, through a remarkable career of consistent growth, development, and creative inventiveness, to be the most advanced musician of this period. These musicians have found the formula that allows themselves to entertain one another and communicate that joy and appreciation for extended Audience development. Miles, once said, Herbie could be the next Duke Ellington if he wanted to assume the mantle.
I´m a Double Bass player and by seeing the thin the bassist strings are playing so mut be piece of cake for him.
This is where I used to go when I lived in Newport, RI. I was in my 20's. If I only knew how wonderful this really is as far as music and artists.

Hancock released Perfect Machine this same year and he decided to play Shorter's Footprints....... Dude. This set is so frigging rad for so many reasons.

Herbie Hancock is such an incredible genius! He must be among the all-time leaders in albums recorded. I wonder what that number is, and if anyone can touch it. How did he find the TIME to do all those recordings? They contain some of the most complex music ever recorded, so they MUST have required a little preparation . . . even for HIM!

That one audience member is so obnoxious - yelling - come on slow it down - yeahhhhh come on pick it up! - there ya go there it is! Herbie likes romance, great wines from where I was born, electronics with Wayne not too far by. But if he wants the highest point of meditation, he simply sits at his FAZIOLI and lets his hands thrust their divinity to a place that is to him only. Miles is nearby in the black hole #7Bis. I spoke to hh on the phone a few milliseconds. I wet myself and hid on the way to the bathroom. I feigned working for the rest of the day...sitting under the Fazioli.
Is there anyone nowadays who has a modern style comparable to greats like these guys, Coltrane, Davis, Monk or others?

Actually, Herbie has recently declared he has taken all kinds of drugs - even crack - but never before playing. He added he was so admirative of Wayne Shorter, because the latter was able to play while punch-drunk, which Herbie was incapable of.
