The game needs to extend the hurtbox when drive rushing in to make it easier to check or at least make it a punish counter.

I dont think nerfing drive rush will make this game slower than sf5 or sf4 anyway, some matchups in sf4 were a fireball fest for 20 seconds straight and nobody was complaining, i love slow fighting games, love me some solid ground game

@@darktouchstudios8114 It doesn't eat all inputs, but it does some funky stuff with how it buffers inputs during the freeze. From what I've read, if you input and release jump during the freeze, it won't come out (you need to hold it). It can mess up some option selects because of priority and other stuff like that. The game freezing can also just mess with your timing and whatnot. It feels bad.
It doesn’t eat the input. It stops 🛑 time, basically you freeze 🥶 while the person 🧍♀️ is moving in quick time like Quick Silver from the X-Men.
That’s why you can hit DR when it’s further away from you. The closer it is the more powerful DR is that’s why people DR off of jabs.
Bro I can't tell you how many times I've checked a DR with HP and stanced with Chun-li but the DR freeze has frozen the QCB input for the stance

The problem with this game is that almost everything is a read, there is counter to everything but it only works if you make a read, this game feels like being in a sfv's gief spd loop whenever you're anywhere near the opponent if that makes any sense

I don’t know why Capcom just won’t listen when this sort of stuff was what was ruining Street Fighter V, and it’s like they made 1 step forward in the final season, then 2 steps backwards in this game…
Sf6 is like candy, cheap, easy and fast but eating it regularly is bad for your health

Raw Drive Rush is easily the most braindead mechanic in this game. I play Manon too and often get hit by raw DR + some normal, not to mention some special moves that are canceled from a raw DR, like Akuma's new forward punch special move.
That’s why most manon players need to dumb down their style to match the other players since we usually fail to land the command grab since the opponent mashes like their life depends on it

@@blinblinthing Because it's too fast to react. Besides, the player can rush and stop too. I do these things sometimes, but it's not guaranteed. Regarding using the mechanic, I try, but Manon's DR is short and slow, so it doesn't help her too much.
@@lvsyagami it's not too fast because idom said he knows a DR is coming if you know a DR is coming and you can't counter it then it's your fault not the game fault. Unless if there's 0 way to counter it. Which is not true.

I listened to the advice "If you don't enjoy the game, stop playing it". After a month having a blast playing some other fighters on Fightcade, I must say it. The simple truth is that Drive Rush is not broken or unbalanced like many other fighting game mechanics, but it is indeed extremely boring. What makes it feel broken is that the entire game is designed in a way that if you lose two or three interactions in a round, you lose. If you played any other fighter before, you have already noticed how perfects are very common in SF6.
And yeah, as some people commented here, playing this game makes you worse at other fighters. Not because of the neutral for me, but because my muscle memory was all messed up because here you can just press anything at any time and it will link. The state of the game is that Street Fighter 6 feels like a tutorial to fighting games, and not a fully fleshed one... Yup. I just feel sorry for you and all the pros that have to play this for money lol
True. Booted up SF4 the other day and got completely outplayed because I was impatient from SF6.
The drive rush tech was basically how you used to play Laura. They just gave it to everyone and removed Laura. So you're basically fighting against yourself
And just to rub the salt in the wound, they replaced Laura with a worse version of Laura and gave her the worst drive rush in the game. It’s like Capcom was targeting Idom specifically

drive rush is simply just a terrible mechanic its only purpose was to speed up the game so that people who had horrible neutral can now play the game, its not even opinion thats just how the gameplay is designed now, having all your resources, plus the fact raw drive rush essentially costs nothing after they have blocked and taken the guess, then chipping your gauge out on top of this while your being harassed forcing even more guessing games on you as a player, litrally 90% of most matches are someone gets in with raw drive rush or someone gets in with button drive rush, and there is essentially zero downsides to either

The big question is, is this mechanic going to change during the games lifetime or are we stuck with the current dr cancel spam until sf7. Mena mentioned in an interview that he believes sf6 is going to look more like sf4 by the end, i hope he is right and capcom get their shit together and address this shit (and the fucking throw loops while we are at it)
the patch that comes after capcom cup will give us the answer. I don't think much will change though. The Drive System IS sf6, and changing it will vastly change the way the game works.

@@EeleyeDD They have to take away the Cr. MK -> DRC option select where the DRC only happens on contact. Make it like jabs where you just get a DRC and lose 3 bars for this. That's #1.
It also needs to stop eating inputs which it does and is bonkers. The game treats DR freeze like super freeze, so if someone supers and let's say you're late on the jab pressure. your jab doesn't come out and you block the super and punish. THAT should also be removed - 'cause the equivalent "save you from your own mistake" doesn't happen vs wakeup OD DP which has no freeze, in that case your late jab gets mauled.
@shaunmcisaac782 As a Ryu main, i was asking for the same nerf to cr mk -->dr. That it should only be on hit. I can't completely lose it as Ryu needs it but i can see why it's too sitting string on block

So about that moment at the beginning of the video. I'm sure you (Idom) have probably already figured it out, but for anyone else wondering, Blanka's 4mk is disjointed which is why 2mp didn't hit him. Manon's 2mk or doing a yolo sweep might've been better for stuffing that DR even if 2mk wouldn't have lead to a combo if it connected at max range. It really do just be like that sometimes.

What this game really gets me is when i do a command and the game just ignore it or it gives me another command like doing a hasho and i get a dp

Drive Rush is just JoJo HTFT's stand dash attack with meter cost (also made by Capcom). It's seems like an out-of-place mechanic for some because JoJo HTFT is a very volatile, very high speed game and now this mechanic got ported over to Street Fighter which is known to be ground-heavy and slow game. They don't mixed quite well.
It's the exact same issue DBFZ had with superdash. It doesn't matter if you know that it's coming, you can't always react to it because its hitbox is variable depending on where they are (and in SF6, what they can press).
Drive rush is awful,it’s just as bad as Heat from Tekken 8.

Wow, after a year of Street Fighter 6, iDom finally figured out that the drive rush is bad! If he didn't complain about it all the time I would have never noticed!

i only played SF6 for one day online and deleted it coz the drive rush ruined it
and the argument of " but you cant do it too" does not hold up
now every character has a built in cheap scrubby button that is pretty much always available
whenever i use it i feel like im playing like a cheapskate so it ruins the experience
They should at least have the option to disable drive rush and have online lobbies where its turned off

Bro that happens to me too much. Manons OD upkick switch’s sides too much. It moves forward and ends up on the other side in the corner on anti too. Especially in corners. It’s so annoying. It should have better overhead hit like guile anti does. It needs a better overhead hurt box.
Her down heavy punch is better at it but if your spending drive gauge you should get better hit box out of it like everyone else.

Roman cancel is the best combo extender in a fighting game that I've seen.
Can you please comment on this maybe. If I go to do jab quarter circle forward light punch to up kick and I happen to accidentally hit jab during down forward her hit command grab will come out and I’ve even tried this in training by only hitting jab or medium punch once and still both moves come out . I really think this is a broken mechanic. This is part of the buffer system that actually ruins low forward combos. Yes I know. I should be a little more accurate my inputs but also you shouldn’t get two moves for one button press. I think that’s so broke.
It literally makes other characters combos way easier in some characters combos harder . I think it’s kind of stupid because some other characters have combos that will work like this.

All they had to do is bring focus dash cancel in this game like 4. V trigger and drive rush is silly. If the moves were avaliable to the player for 30 years without the need for mechanics then, what do we need them for? He reacted around 14-16 frames. That's about as fast as you're gonna get. After comparing frames and the hit/hurboxes, Manon's heavy probably would have worked, but it would have lost to almost any other button

It's easy to find characters that are better against raw driverush than manon, pick litterally anyone else. It doesn't matter if they nerf driver-rush, manon would still be the worse at checking it. Unless they buff manon against drive-rush, then Manon will struggle against it, forever, forever

@@KnucklesWTDI feel that changing Crush Counter to Punish Counter and creating Modern Controls are the closest things to being objectively good changes from 5, anything else is up for debate. I love Drive Rush as a mechanic but I’m also degenerate in sf so that may just be Capcom catering to my all crayon diet.

iDom got punish countered. That confirms he got the timing down. There’s no hurtbox under Blanka’s leg so it was basically nothing for iDom to hit. A slower button by iDom probably would have got countered.

SF6 is cheap, a FnG for ppl that can't play SF, a cheap mechanic semi invincible tactic for free hits. Characters so fast w so much range it takes little to no skill to play effectively. The lightest fastest button can lead into the most extensive combos in any SF and it's more like a Marvel game now. DR should do minimal dmg if anything.

I have a question? Last I checked every character has the Drive System. Which includes utilizing a parrying system. So if every character has the same tools, What’s the issue? Cause I’m not sure why Drive rush is a problem, all of sudden.
every character has it, but it's not universal across the board. it's like giving everyone a hammer, but some people get the dollar store 5 in one screwdriver hammer combo and others get a real hammer that can drive nails easily. another issue is that it just makes pressure so easy. I rely on it so much that it has made me worse in other fighting games.

The same rules apply when you have the ball. Also in the military, we all get the same training. Not everyone will fight the same and we are not built that same. But we do have our own advantages…

The literal beginning of this video is the problem I have with this game more than drive rush. There’s no real high low mid in this game except for a few moves and on big characters. That aside just giant fucking hit boxes on brainded buttons that; in a more consistent game, wouldn’t hit you when you use the proper read to punish them. For example. If you are a shoto and throw out s.HP to fish? My c.HK as Manon should punish you on reaction not the other away around because her hurt box gets extended forward on top of her moving forward. Shit like that is bad game design and makes things unintuitive.

Drive Impact is stupidly dumb. They need to reduce the armor to 2 hits.
I don't think they'd do that since most meterless ways to get pressure or a knockdown are designed to lose to DI, and that includes some buffers like Juri 2mk into store, or TCs like Ken mk, mk, hk.
So if DI only had 2 hits of armor certain meterless options would be way better, and I don't think the devs want that.

"I knew it was going to happen" is what modern players say to justify not needing timing and execution. Just because you know what to do, doesn't mean you automatically get to punish. You still have to execute and properly time it.

I could not disagre more. I understand Stronger players hate loosing to weaker players but if Drive rush is all it takes to be at pro level (skipping neutral), that means pros are not that strong because counters measures to punish Drive rushs are in the game.
Just improve and get even stronger so Drive rush will not upset you. It is a game so the majority of players are supposed to enjoy playing the game, not just the pros and the contents creators.
