Strictly basketball, do you think the system of DLSU under Coach Topex (who is known as a player's coach), is an ideal place for Mason? Why or why not!
Knowing Coach Topex, his system is built to maximize their strenghts and give confidence to his players. And he's a type of coach that will give you the green light to shoot kahit 10 straight misses ka sa 3 and magagalit yun pag di ka tumira so swak si Mason.
biggest criticism of Mason Amos' game is his defense (defensive awareness, lack of effort, and so on), I think Coach Topex might be the right person to cure that.
As a DLSU Fan "Let's F*cking Go!" Haha pero TBH, as a basketball fan, medyo may doubts na ako about sa parity ng UAAP hehe. Now, If UAAP dumps that proposed new rule, expect the seasons to be a UP-La Salle show in the next seasons. And obviously, SJ wasn't thrilled and thus a lot of former and current Blue Eagles show their "ATENEO PRIDE" that SJ is likely preaching on that damn tweet haha. But as DLSU Die Hard Fan aka St Clare Student na kung maka asta parang taga DLSU haha, LFG, I'm so hyped for S88 pero problemahin muna natin S87 haha. But I hope Mason waited sana for a go signal from Coach Tab before moving to DLSU hehehe
FranLu that new rule isn’t gonna ensure parity lol. Look at UE bleeding recruits like the Duremdes brothers. Lol. The best recruiters out of HS win under that proposed new rule, which right now are UP, DLSU, NU, and FEU lololol.
I won’t even think about the rivalry between Blue and Green and the Pride post of Belangel. I’m thinking about Gilas’ promising future since KQ and Amos will be playing together, develop chemistry
Maybe Amos just feels the Tab system isn't for him, or maybe he just wants the chip as soon as possible which Ateneo may not be able to give him right away. Either way, it's going to be an interesting UAAP season this year.
Maybe we should factor in first the school environment over anything else. Perhaps it didn't work out for him outside of the basketball court, or his immediate circle of friends went to DLSU. I wouldn't think it's about money because all of the UAAP member-schools spend on players. Hard to say whether this has something to do with Tab Baldwin's style, but the departures of the other players is an indicator that something is brewing at Ateneo.
@@rcd2005Ateneo just lost players it's not due to coaching. They lost Dwight Ramos, SJ Belangel, Padrigao, Balungay etc if all those played their 5 yrs Ateneo would still be a champion to this day. It doesnt matter how good coaching is if players suck then you wont get results.
True, I was hoping to watch him develop like Thirdy over the next 1 or 2 years. Oh well. Wasn't it expected that he would leave early (but for the pro leagues). Definitely something is brewing. Are we going back to the dark ages? Or is this the start of the same rebuild journey we had with Thirdy's crew?
As of late the most plausible reason for the mass exodus is that players do not want to play for CTB anymore. Geo Chui, Jared Brown and Ballungay left prematurely. If they love playing for Tab and have full confidence in him they would have rather stayed and exhausted their playing years. Now, Amos left. Also, add to this Ateneo consistently losing out on the recruitment wars for blue chip players. People might be scared of saying this possible reason because of the risk of negative backlash but I'm putting it out there. If people are leaving you and people refuse to join you there must be something wrong with you.
Very possible take! I do agree that Ateneo has been missing out on recruitment wars these past few years. If its about getting local HS stars, ADMU is admittedly weak there. TBH, weakness din siguro ng Ateneo is weakened homegrown development plus over reliance on Fil-Ams. Parang iilan nalang ata sa last MBT nila from Juniors team nila whether main campus or sister schools like SHS-ATENEO. Pero IMO, I don't think Coach Tab is to blame (or baka defender lang ako bc Atenista HAHAHA). I think its two things: Increased Pro opportunities and a shift on basketball play/culture. Ever since Thirdy's leap to the B.League, more international leagues have looked for basketball talent here in the country. Whether that be genuine scouting to add to their teams or just for the additional Filipino audience (looking at you Taiwan with Ricci HAHAH) mas marami nang mata talaga on PH collegiate ball. On basketball culture, I think lesser and lesser young talent want to play in a very NON-Star-Focused, patient and honestly grueling system like CTB's. How most players in the country or from the US or from countries that have basketball cultures like the US is the trend of ISO focused basketball. Kita naman sa US on the HS level and AAU level na sobrang highlight focused and individual ng basketball on those levels. Kaya nga ibang stars coming out of HS like the Thompson twins or kahit si Jalen Green went to places like OTE or G League because yun yung trend sa NBA and US basketball in general. Most kids want that. CTB doesn't. He wants European style basketball: pass first offense and hard working defense. Less about the stars, more about the work. So TBH IMO, its less about CTB but more about where basketball culture is at right now. But good take too!
Or they’re not sure if CTB is staying. Ateneo should have offered him an extension or CTB should have signed it already. A possible change of coaching staff impedes a player development. This is why many LS players didn’t improve in the recent years.
This is coming from an Atenean so this take could a.) get me hate from my own school, b.) get me hate from DLSU/other schools or c.) hate from everyone! HAHA but I want to see this as both an Atenista for life and a basketball fanatic. Speaking as an Atenean, I think its very valid yung anger/tampo na nararamdaman ng community, current and former players and coaching staff. Imagine mo naman, you've been proclaimed to be the school's next star and you even acknowledged that and played to that idea pero aalis ka lang din. Siyempre dagdag galit since DLSU pa talaga of all places HAHAHA pero I'll get to that din. So what do I (AKO LANG HA BAKA MAGALIT IBA DYAN) think is/are the reason/s lumipat si Mason? Money? Playing time? Coaching? School Environment/Culture? I personally think its a mix of all of those and more. Try man nila na ideny or harangan, open secret nalang kung tawagin na talagang padamihan ng "stipend" and or benefits. THIS IS NOT TO SAY NA DLSU HAS MORE BUDGET THAN ADMU OR VICE VERSA. Though sure akong hindi kulang sa funding ang ADMU MBT kasi isa sa mga financer niyan is Frank Lao (Part Owner ng Converge Telecom and Team + Financer din ng Strong Group (Father ni Jacob Lao of ADMU MBT)) But what I am sure of is that those all have contracts! Just like professional leagues like PBA, MPBL kahit pa NBA, may agreed upon pera ang mga students. Siguro yung pagoffer ng ADMU was less since sa tingin ko, mas prefer nila na magkakapareho (or magkalapit) mga offer nila sa athletes nila, which I strongly believe Mason didn't like. Siguro as a young, highly touted player, mas gusto nya mabayaran in a way na star player talaga siya, which I think ayaw gawin ng ADMU pero willing ang DLSU. Pero siguro thats more dependent on sa analysis/basa ko sa culture ng two schools mismo kaya baka mali din ako don. Sa coaching and playing time, I think its most known amongst the players and alumni of CTB na talagang may pagkaold school pa rin siya in some sort of way. In some way "dont fix what isn't broken" type of system. PERO take note, di niya ginagawa star agad (or at all). I remember this article ng Tiebreaker ata way back in 2018/19 around UAAP finals time, na sinabi na the Ateneo MBT doesn't have a main guy talaga sa sistema ni CTB kaya kahit mag 30 pts ni Thirdy, or Shaq Mode si Kouame (not really possible that time pa tho HAHA medj iba pa role ni kouame non) special occasion lang yon. Kouame was the big man, SJ was the spitfire guard, Mamu was the 3&D heart, Dave was scoring 30 pre-ADMU, BJ was a great 1. Pag tinignan niyo sila individually, lahat sila may "star" potential. Pero famous(or baka sa iba, infamous) si CTB na ang sistema niya is not star-centric. Kahit sila Mamu and sila Dave namention yon sa Shoot First HAHAHA shoutout Tito Mikee. And I think naging factor yon for Mason. Sa DLSU kasi, halata mo sino yung stars nila, and I think that's how Mason wants to play. Is CTB's system bad? Not at all IMO. Pero it is definitely not for everyone and siguro ito biggest example. School environment/culture: Someone commented na baka yung ibang friends niya is lumipat din to DLSU which is definitely possible. Pero IMO, I think ang babaw masyado kung yon lang reason niya for leaving. I think its more of a cultural disconnect. Schonny Winston mentioned sa Shoot First din na before coming to the PH, he didn't understand the DLSU-ADMU rivalry. Di siguro naiintindihan ni Mason yung weight non kaya hindi niya siguro inexpect yung ganitong backlash. Not defending him because sa totoo lang tampo pa rin ako pero this is his situation. Hindi siya lumaki or nag-aral prior to the Ateneo offer. And since first experience niya sa UAAP was offer na agad, siguro akala niya walang problema kung naglolook out siya para sa sarili niyang benefit; kumbaga sa mga experience niya, feeling niya mas pro league na ang dating, pede siya lumipat sa mga winning team pag trip niya and hindi na factor ang school pride kaya di niya rin siguro naiintindihan nga yung DLSU-ADMU rivalry. Naisip niya siguro "Since inofferan na ako before, I think me taking this offer isn't bad kasi mukhang normal naman tong ganitong kalakaran". Pero siguro the winning, money and culture na meron right now ang DLSU-GSW HAHAHA was enough to make him move from Katip to Taft. And it hurts more because he didn't tell any of the coaches, team or staff about it. Makes it feel like wala talaga siyang nakuhang brotherhood. Is this the start of the death of UAAP/Collegiate basketball in the country? No naman kasi sa totoo lang ang Ateneo naman nagpioneer ng ganitong kalakaran eh HAHAHA pero it definitely is a blow to the integrity of the league sa sobrang constant ng paglipat ng players and it makes us fans and the players question kung san ba dapat lulugar pagdating sa benefit para sa sarili and loyalty and school pride.
Money? Coach ng Ateneo pang FIBA tapos kulang sila ng pera. Nakuha nga nila si Bahay from U.P. Tab Baldwin is actually the reason teams started teams to stack up.
Wasn't there a rumor na may mga offers si Tab Baldwin from the MiddleEast? Maybe Ateneo is really getting weak in their program that even players are losing confidence. But why DLSU of all teams though? That's a big hit for ADMU.
Ateneo fan here, let's go with the increased competition. Hirap na manalo ng UAAP championship ngayon, key players are leaving in or 2 years. Ateneo will step up.
Pretty sure one of the main factor why Mason jumped ship right now is the incoming new residency rule haha sux to be Luis Pablo tho, kid couldn’t catch a break.
"Manalo, matalo Ateneo pa rin!" So my guess is... Ateneo possibly pours its heart out during the 2 games vs La Salle and wins but might not even make the final 4 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Shades of the BJ Manalo era indeed. Hopefully Ateneo minds it's own business, gets its act together, improves during the season and beyond... And thrashes DLSU pag games nila. As the bball gods intended 😅
tingin ko lang di nya nakikita na kayang manalo ng Ateneo this season and next year. Maybe he wanted to win now and move to pro na probably nakita nya na kayang gawin sa La Salle.
It's a money game and unfortunately Ateneo has less money now than UP and Lasalle. Yes they have MVP but MVP is just a rich employee compared to the actual tycoon financiers UP and DLSU have.
Baclaan, Cortez, new FSA, Konov, Pablo, Amos, Melencio, Raven Cortez, Rubico, Marasigan. La Salle built for championship contention for the next 2-3 years

Nakaka cringe yung commentaries. Money agad?!? First point said. He had limited playing time as a rookie. Offered? He approached DLSU. Didn't consider the hate factor ... over a bigger chance of winning a championship? The guy wanted a better future in basketball. A championship. Something he won't get in Ateneo right now. Demoralizing for other players in the roster? I'd be more demoralized if I have a former national team coach, a great school ... but settles at 4th. Othrr players are leaving too. TBH, if not for Coach Tab, the team would be nothing.
Just mentioned on the pod the possible options as to why one might transfer 👍🏽 Not saying money is the main reason. Hope that clarifies it. We discussed playing time and other aspects as well if you listened to the whole episode 🙂
what if....? CTB is self sabotaging ateneo.. then ateneo will fire him! then he exits UAAP as a good guy, then go somewhere else.. just my 1 cent.. peace ☮!
To be honest, I think Mason is overrated. He looks good on paper but his overall stats aren't that great for a big guy. His being less than forthright and deceitful (when asked by coach Tab about the rumors that he was leaving ADMU he said he wasn't) speaks volumes of his character. Not a guy you can trust period so for me it's good riddance. P.S. he'll surely get the loudest and longest boos from alumni, ex players, and the entire Ateneo community when he suits up to play against his former team.

We’re just listing down the possible options as to why one might transfer 👍🏽 Not saying money is the main reason. Hope that clarifies it.
Honestly, Mason’s move to DLSU will benefit DLSU more than it benefits Mason.
👀
Damn... It's very clear! Best offer wins.. Very simple!!
Wasn't there a rumor na may mga offers si Tab Baldwin from the MiddleEast?
Maybe Ateneo is really getting weak in their program that even players are losing confidence. But why DLSU of all teams though? That's a big hit for ADMU.
Re: Tab, that one I cannot confirm anything! Although may rumors nga around on it. Not entirely sure how factual though!
Mas maganda nga timing. He's out of the country fighting for the country. This diffuses some anger.
Ateneo fan here, let's go with the increased competition.
Hirap na manalo ng UAAP championship ngayon, key players are leaving in or 2 years.
Ateneo will step up.
Yessir let's see what the next few months give us!
Konov and Amos do not belong to the same pos. Konov is a 2 or 3, Amos would be a 3 or primarily a 4
Ah! Actually yeah! Scary to have them both on the floor.
But defensively they're slow if they will play the 2 and 3 position respectively.
@@sungodnigga15 But tbh konov and amos still young. lots of room to grow. Tbf to konov moves like a solid guard
Topex will figure it out...but this is huge
Absolutely huge!
Kid is so fickle! Joins ateneo hs, then leaves. Joins ateneo college, leaves again
Really? I didnt know he was part of the Ateneo HS team. Can you share more info about this?
@@m4tts03 hi said it himself in interview a few years ago
Good on him he can do what he wants
Pretty sure one of the main factor why Mason jumped ship right now is the incoming new residency rule haha sux to be Luis Pablo tho, kid couldn’t catch a break.
I honestly think he can play alongside Pablo! Let's see.
Remembering the BJ Manalo hate spree...
I dont know how that was before! But people have been saying this yeah.
..and that was before social media
@@NicoRocha that was really bad
Makes sense bro! Thanks for watching!
La Salle built for championship contention for the next 2-3 years
Stacked and loaded for sure!
If i hear of the phrase “in the end of the day!!!!!”
I've been waiting for this😂
Hahaha syempre! Had to record a pod for this!
Could have been better if Mario's whole face can be seen on the camera. It's kinda hard to watch him while talking.
haha sorry Mira! Mario's camera was not cooperating this whole interview. He still appreciates you though for watching!
@@NicoRocha Haha I see. I will let it pass for now. I thought he was kinda shy.
Btw, I watched your vlog for me to see how you guys reacted re Amos news compared to the toxic fans sa X.
@@miraaltezbringas2083 Nah makapal mukha nyan HAHAHA. Jk. Yeah sama lang ng timing of his camera today.
Thanks for watching! We're not toxic (hopefully naman). hehe
Iba kasi yung pagka lipat niya sahh arc rival pahh ng team niya kaya siguro na gimbal yung mga teamates niya at yung past players ng ateneo
ADMU does not forget
In the 90's no good players want to be in Ateneo...
Like UP right now? Peace ✌️
Simple, he doesn’t want to be in a rebuilding team like Ateneo. A winning team like La Salle will look good in his potential pro career.
Could be a main reason! Dlsu is in win now mode
Tulfo in ACtion needs to LOOK in this Transfer to DLSU trend (Cortez, Baclaan, Pablo, Amos).. Maganda siguro bigayan ng Ayuda =P
Grabe naman Tulfo hahaha
Believe it or not, money isn't a factor. He prioritized his future. It's about DLSU's established culture, unfortunately, it happened the wrong way.
Good take on this Karlo!
he prioritized not playing big. not lifting weights. backup ni konov.
What established culture? They just lucked into KQ and Topex, aside from that it was the same
Old DLSU team like in the past. Admu still has the better culture that was set for 25 years
@@chixxxymeister7682 Yes, it's the same players, but Coach Topex has instilled a new culture and has resulted into a championship. While Ateneo’s culture remains top-notch, other teams have caught up. Basketball is evolving.
:o
Someone sounds salty 😂😂😂
Pero your not sure if money talaga ang reason, yaan natin si mason amos talaga magsalita and magsabi ng dahilan nya😂😂😂
Yep! We’re just listing down the possible options as to why one might transfer 👍🏽 Not saying money is the main reason. Hope that clarifies it
In fact, other schools have a WHOLISTIC basketball program, including weakening the BLUE EAGLES ...
Wont be fun if it's Ateneo winning every year haha
holistic
Amos = Durant
lumipat sa rival team 😂
Yeah in the end it's still DLSU and Ateneo. D ksi tlga exciting ung UP, parang wala lang. Iba tlga pag this two schools face each other. Manalo o matalo okay lang pero ung thrill is way more better than watching UP and DLSU fight.
Iba talaga rivalry ng ADMU-DLSU. Although, I must say I enjoy watching ADMU vs UP and UP vs DLSU. New rivalries!
Dlsu-up for me. Pareho barako both communities (may mga frat boys, sports/eng'g majors)l. Very physical play lol
BJ Manalo v2.0
:(
budget
TAB BALDWIN needs to quit, many players do not like his coaching style given pinoy cagers are used to the DRIBBLE DRIBBLE BARA BARA DRIVE OFFENSE
F are you talking.. its all about the money.. you all talking about outher things
🤷♂
masyadong butt hurt ang ateneo.. lol
Everyone Filipino fans hates on everyone nowadays naman na so it's alright 😂.
Hay nako haha
FranLu pasok.......
😂
Hi Pao 😂
@@NicoRochahahaha!! animo lasal beat up! hahahaha
UP? komunista? ang babaw naman ng king inang to! :)
Desurv. 🤣
Copium.
Academic deficiency
@@jotskie2113 he deserves shit dahil bastusan pag alis niya.
HAHAHA
Philippine Collegiate Basketball = semi professional leagues where "students" get offered cash allowances, condos, luxury cars, supermarket branches to transfer schools to play ball and not for anything else. Any comments from admissions officers processing the papers? 😂
Cguro nman alam nyo yung salitang respeto.. Ganun lng kasimple yom.. Move on n
