Congratulations UP FIGHTING MAROONS!! We salute you and thank you for bringing the title back to Katipunan, the Diliman side of Katipunan. We are happy for you guys. 🏆🙏🏻
Ballers of the season: UP. Champs after 2 seasons of heartbreak, despite all the doubt and trash talk online. Also, the programs on the rise: FEU and UST. They're going to be forces to be reckoned with next season. Veejay Pre playing like KQ's replacement, and UST's recruitment drive just getting stronger. Gonna be a mad scramble for the final four next season! Boleros: The UE Red Warriors, AKA the season's intro-boys. I can't imagine a worse fall from grace. 5-2 1st round, and a win over the defending champs, to a 1-6 2nd round and crashing out in a playoff for fourth against an arguably less-stacked Adamson. Coach Jack is slated to leave too, so it'll be a few more years before UE can get back on its feet. Pain. Cheers, guys! I need to get my hands on one of your caps.
Congratulations to you all! You are the true ballers of the season. Your podcast stands out as the only platform that can genuinely discuss the UAAP without bias-especially impressive given that most of you are Ateneans (with Sam repping UP). Keep up the great work! Another, in fairness to Ateneo, yes, they may be a 'bolero,' but not the ultimate one of the season. Just to be fair, you’ve considered other teams as young (like FEU) and not labeled them as 'bolero,' so why not extend the same consideration to Ateneo, which is also a young team? Come on, those 4 wins might not be what we hoped for, and we’re disappointed, but let’s not forget-these are young players still finding their footing.
Thank you for the kind words! ❤️ On Ateneo, i agree naman with your point. It really depends on the angle you choose to approach it with. From my POV, getting those 4 wins was a successful season already (I've said this multiple times in the past already haha) because as you said, this team is soooo young and lost a ton of vets/talent - Gab
You can also approach it from Sam's POV. This team was last place in the standings. How can we not give them a bolero of the season hahaha. They struggled from the FT line the whole season and big men ate them alive in the paint Both POVs are valid, i think - Gab
I posted a comment to one of your episodes before the season started that UP was gonna bring in a game-changer. I didnt name him then but that was QMB. Just so glad that he lived up to my high expectations haha.
@@riizingday03super amazing that his lolo was a doctor who graduated from UP College of Medicine in UP Manila-PGH. It all came full circle to go back to his roots. He even visited UP PGH and the doctors, students and patients along with his mom, dad and sister
Wow very interesting episode with the usual differing opinions. I love how you each of you "battle" with each other. For me, with the exemption for UP and DLsU as the ballers of the season, I agree with you guys for choosing UST but to a greater degree, I would favor Adamson as the Baller of the Season over UST. Why? UST could have not made the Top 3 if not for the losing streak of UE. On the other hand, Adamson realy worked hard to reach and consistently made the Final 4 by winning the games that they badly need to get. It really depends on what lens and angle we are looking at the whole picture. What a great UAAP Season 87. Thank you guus. I will wait for the off season episides. #GatoradeBalleroftheSeason
On the Reyland Torres issue, this was covered by Nikko Ramos and Diego Dario with Coach Nash Racela. Titled: "OMG KQ! Game 2 Reactions + Game 3 Previews with Nash Racela and Diego" The way it was explained, Unsportmanlike Category 4 is not a flagrant foul. Categories 1 and 2 are Flagrant fouls. Only categories 1 and 2 are for suspension. Same as what happened to Adamson's Calisay if I'm not mistaken. But I agree that the UAAP is bolero on this one as it's not clear to most people.
Okay. That's even more confusing 🤣🤣🤣 if Categories 3 and 4 are not for suspension, why classify them as unsportsmanlike fouls in the first place, which in turn leads to ejections? Also, Calisay was assessed as technical fouls, not unsportsmanlike fouls
During G3, DLSU booed the UP Pep. Photog ko on DLSU patron side told me a "mukha namang desente at kagalang-galang" A DLSU fan shouted, "Mahulog na! Mabalian sana!" Ganyan kasama. GRABE wishing harm. Ehh nung DLSU Pep na, may nasubsob/halos nasubsob na member bandang harap. Ang bilis ng karma dahil sa fan na masama ugali hays
I agree with the inconsistencies with the traveling calls. however, i think the change in traveling calls came after FIBA qualifiers. the traveling calls being made by the UAAP referees were not being called/considered during the FIBA tournament. since the league (UAAP) follows FIBA rules, I think this heavily influenced the traveling calls made afterward. regarding the 2 technical fouls - Nikko Ramos, Diego Dario and Coach Nash Racela discussed this in a spotify podcast (a call to ARMS podcast, around 45:45).
Yep, we agree naman that the FIBA games here might have influenced the referees in the UAAP. It's not just coincidence However, after 2+ months of basketball games?! Even when fans, broadcasters, and teams/coaches were pointing this out? That is really weird and it heavily influenced the outcomes of multiple games already
compared to most other D1/D2 players going to UAAP, QMB was a starter with goods stats in D1. I think if he really is Gilas eligible he'll be heading to the B.League B1. He's that good
Great episode again! I agree with most of your picks on the ballers and boleros of this season. Hard to believe, its already over for the basketball season. My Ballers of this season would be Adamson and UST. UST became a top contending team and they showed why they deserved to be in the F4. On the other hand, Adamson proved a lot of doubters wrong and managed to sneak in the F4 with coach Nash on the helm. My Boleros of the season are none other than UE and Ateneo. UE started off great then went downhill in the 2nd round; total collapse, can't explain how that even if happened. For Ateneo, expectations were really low from the beginning and players were playing out of their position which made it difficult for them to get a rhythm during games. Cheers to more episodes! looking forward to your offseason podcast!

Agree on KQ. Bolero ang DLSU Coaching staff kasi kinalabaw si KQ. Ginawa syang James Harden dahil puro self-setup kulang sa help. One trick pony.
