      Yeah, I understand that feeling 😁 When I need a straight edge I use this technique, but usually freehand is good enough for me also 😁😁

    Agree that's one way to get a straight, relatively tear free (at least on one side) cut. But that marker (while great for a video demo) is WAY TO WIDE to be accurate. If I want a 4 inch cut - I want EXACTLY (as close as I can) 4 inches. The line is too wide (looks like 1/16" or 3/32"). I'd use a SHARP pencil or better yet, a marking knife. And you have to think about which SIDE of the line you are cutting on.

      Yes, you are absolutely right, this marker is definitely too thick for precise cutting, it is just for demonstration purposes.
      Perhaps if you want to use a circular saw for that precise cutting, even if you press it against a guide like this jigsaw can still wander a little bit.

    It's pointless to try to make any accurate cut with a jigsaw. Waste of lumber. You will always end up with an ugly cut.
