Thank you for sharing your first outing with your HRF rod. I have looked at them online, but did not see any at ICAST this year. In years past, I bought longer rods marketed for salmon fishing (8.5ft and 9.5ft) for the same reasons as you selected the longer HRF rod. It can be helpful when fishing from a shoreline where you cannot easily approach the water's edge when landing a fish. I can also cast farther compared to my shorter rods. It is also helpful when there is a band of aquatic weed growth along the shallow water edge. The longer rods allows me to lift my lure, bait, or hooked fish over this obstacle. This summer you could do a goby fishing video. I have heard it is popular in Japan and haze has been introduced to CA.
Caught them in NorCal years ago. They'll be a good bait for Hali.
weve been catching goby for decades in CA. Nobody really says anything about them because they are only caught to be used as bait.

What jig head do you use?
