Another great video! Ashley, I love your presentation style and it always makes me smile when I see your smiling face on screen. The Halos is a very versatile modifier that works great for a lot of my portrait work and I use it with a variety of lights.
Thanks so much for the video. I just purchased the FJ400 Backpack kit. The strobe's bigger than I thought it'd be so I'm probably going to order a FJ200 too. Looking forward to playing with it all!
@@EPXPhotography Thanks for the reply! I ended up ordering a FJ200, a stand, and the quick mount S-bracket on Friday morning. Westcott blew my mind when everything showed up to my house on Saturday afternoon!
Yes. Hard light is the way to go outdoors. I'm a solo photographer and generally never have assistance with holding strobes. I lost a strobe as a new photographer using modifiers outside. Never again
Thanks Ashley, I have a Westcott Bob Davis Perfect Pair. Also I have an old Octa S designed for speedlites. What is needed to adapt these to the Westcott FJ 200s 0r 400s. Thanks.
The Perfect Pair are umbrella based modifiers, so they can attach to the umbrella mounts on the FJ400 or FJ200. The older Speedlite Rapid Box does not work with strobes, which is why we came up with the Rapid Box Switch! The Rapid Box Switch Octa-S would allow you to use it with a speedlight or strobe! www.fjwestcott.com/products/rapid-box-switch-octa-s
Are you using something inside of the Apollo Orb to angle it down that much? I have one but always feel like it’s so restrictive to angle downward. I usually have to break out the Westcott Mini-Boom Arm & Weight Bag which does not make it ideal for on location shooting.
This is the exact kind of video I was looking for. Nobody else seems to be talking about on location lighting like this.
I have the Octa S and love it! Small, very portable, easy to set up and take down and provides great quality of light!!
I recommend the deflector plate for it, makes it even better !
That model was a trooper, we hope you paid her well. I love the 25" set up for on the go shoots, very ez to use and very portable and lightweight
I like the octa box, I have one of the larger ones, but the umbrella setups look like a good option to add to the kit. Thanks, great video.
Hi Ashley! I like the Rapid Box Switch Octa-S best but the Halo looks pretty cool as well. Nice video, very well done!

I have used Apollo modifiers for over a decade on location because of how quickly they deploy and how compactly they fold.
This was very helpful! Thank You!
Hi, Luv all of these boxes. I met you at wppi in Las Vegas in 2023. great video BTW.

I have both. The FJ200 backpack saves your back when hiking, but both are awesome.😂

Glad everything arrived quickly, thanks for your support!!
@@WestcottLighting What is the extention on the light stand at 4:29 min? Where can i buy something like this? Thanks.

thank you for your valuable information & tips
These look great! What determines your ISO with all the power while using the FJ 200?
Your videos are excellent! What modifiers or umbrellas would you use for taking photos of a large group outdoors?
Usually 7ft umbrella are the go to for that! We actually just a did a video on that here:

Great Video
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you!
Recently I've been using hard light and I love the look of it. Don't be afraid to use hard light.
Yes, the difference in look, as an adjunct to the sun, is minimal to clients...but the difference in handling outdoors is immense.
I love the look of hard light

I have the Octa S but have been eyeing the M or L because i feel sometimes I want a larger light sorce.
good job
Thanks!
Can you use any umbrella of the right size? Or is that one specifically made for the Apollo?thanks
The Apollo IS the umbrella style unit. Westcott makes a number of modifiers based on the umbrella design.
What is the bracket on the light stand at the end on the OctaS? Does Westcott sell them?
It's our 8" Shorty Arm: www.fjwestcott.com/products/shorty-offset-extension-arm-8-inch
