im pretty sure there is a removable plastic sleeve around the tip. Take the sleeve off and you have more contact area and its easier to measure in tight places.
I'm impressed by the quality and accuracy with the one I bought. Did some checking and found Uni-T is a company with impressive quality focus on their operations.. Very good meter.. (probe tip sleeve is removable)..
Hi Josh,Those things on the probe's tips are cover. If they get on the way like they did on your video 7:46. you can remove those partial tip cover to expose the regular probe tip. They are kind of hard, but just grab them and pull, they will come out. Thanks for the video.
I received this meter today and I must say im very impressed with it. The current was off with my main multimeter by 2-3 mA if I placed the meter correctly on the cable. The capacitance setting is amazing. It almost instantly measures capacity up to 20 mF (Thats 20000 uF). The only downside I have with this meter so far is that the lcd illumination which auto turns off after 15s (I have no idea what the purpose of this is, probably power saving but its very annoying). It is a superb bit of kit for 30€. Also the ncv feature is also good, you can see where the wire goes in the wall. Very good meter :)
+Joshua Bardwell - Josh - can you tell me if this meter will read AA battery or car battery voltages accurately? Ive purchased a few inexpensive clamp meters, but none of them will read past the decimal point on the DC scale! - they cant show car alternator (14.2) or a weak car battery (11.5) or even the condition of an AA battery (ie: 1.37v). Does the 210 show millivolts on the DC scale?
+Joshua Bardwell - LOL - i know! Indeed: the same size Harbor Freight clamp meter will not read below 1 DCV, and neither will the MT87 that is a popular clamp meter on ebay/amazon !! Granted, these are under 15 bucks each, but they dont read below 1 volt on their DC scales! - Looks like the UNI-T can do it - guess you have to get above 30 dollars to get millivolt readings. Looks like the best bang/buck for inexpensive clamp metering and accurate low volt probe testing
Hi Mr. Bardwell I have a question. I am going to be making my very first quad by the end of this year. I was thinking of getting a clampmeter that can measure DC currents in a flight controller that is in range of mA. Say for example i want to measure DC current flowing in camera or may be a VTx. Do you recommend this clampmeter ? Edit i have already seen your playlist on wiring your own FC and checking on other videos of yours they are really helpful btw. Keep making such nicely explained videos.
Thanks for the video! I was about to order it off of Amazon before I decided to search TH-cam for videos and came across yours. I just ordered using your affiliate link.
I did a review on one issue of these a few days ago in my channel too, I thought it wasn't too bad, pretty accurate, only thing I thought was a bit poor was input protection for the leads.
Nice to see you've demonstrated the DC current clamp function, thanks. Just one Q; At 9.38 your DMM meter shows negative current flow, (which you noted, reverse connection) whereas the clamp meter showed just Amps. If you were to reverse the clamp on the wire does the clamp meter sense & display reverse polarity? i.e. if checking one's car charging circuit, it would be nice to be able to easily tell whether the battery is charging or discharging?
This meter reminds me of a woman who liked the looks of Chinese characters on a menu and had them put on a T-shirt. Later a Chinese professor told her what it meant: "Cheap, but good". :=)
I brought this clamp a few weeks back, it a great tool. I always found it a pain to measure dc amps using a std multimeter, the clamp makes life so much easier (faster) and it's pretty accurate. Interestingly, if you read the manual the dc amps is more accurate than ac, 2% vs 4% respectively.
Thanks for the review! I was considering another DC clamp meter from the same company, this review has made up my mind, I'll get it. Good price and they seem to be quite accurate.
I cant decide between this or the d version which also has temperature and able to measure up to 200 amps current dc as oppesed to 100 amps but you lose the lower 0-2amp setting on the d version..if this e version had the temp feature and was able to go above 100amps dc it would be my choice for sure..
+Jacob Hendrickson I think you wont need 200A feature. The temperature setting isnt very important also. But I would recommend 210e because it is very precise.
totally agree daniel I went with the 210e then picked up a set of probemaster leads just for it..once you try their leads they spoil ya where no other is good enough
Great video. I’ve just received one of these devices and notice that when I place it in the 2A current range and change to DC mode, I get a reading of ~250mA before zeroing, with no wire in the clamp. The instructions do state the device should be zeroed before taking measurements, but I’m just wondering if this behaviour is normal?
I have one that I use to test current from my solar panels. Some wires give a strange reading, for instance, after the decimal point, a zero and then an upside down, backwards 7. Any idea why this happens? I'm making certain the polarity is correct
The -E adds capacitance measurement. I haven't done a close comparison but I think it has nearly the same specs otherwise. I changed because the -D started getting hard to find with Amazon Prime.
Joshua Bardwell i mean u can measure Dc current without press the select button for DC mode. When we switch to Ac to Dc.. It shows DC amps on AC mode also
There just as good as each other but the uni_t is a lot cheaper fluke are £50-£100 uni-t £10-£30 and they do other meters at higher prices I had an MFT ie insulation resistance continuity voltage and RCD tester From uni-t cost £140 compared to the big brands witch will cost between £500 and £1.300 and they both do the same job. You do the maths I will not be going back to the big brands any time soon.
I just ordered one from Banggood for $28 on a group buy from BLF. I have a couple of clamp meters, but they only do AC. Hopefully this is a reliable meter.
The device UT210 came with aliexpress, one of the posistors wmz12a will burst. Measured their resistance 1.4 kom. I can not find such anywhere. Do not tell me its value or can link where to buy?
bro please tell me does it matter for separate dallier like in this meter has option 2A, 20A and 100A ? and many meters has only option like 1000 ad/dc amps. there is no short option like 2,20amps. so does these types(1000ac/dc) of meter are not more accurate in mili or short amps like 1,2amps ?
thanks for reply joshua.. u mean if i am to measure low amps like 1 and 2 so ut 210e meter is better for me for accuracy then a meter write direct 1200amsp ? m i right bro?
yes, but for these types of meters to measure current, you need to put only the supply wire through the clamp (so a USB cable has 4 wires inside it, you'd have to open the insulation and clamp around JUST the one internal power wire)
No. But since voltage is measured in parallel with the load, it's easy to measure voltage simply by touching probes to the points you want to measure. Current is a hassle because it must be measured in series with the load, which is why clamp current measuring is so useful.
Just as well they don't supply Batteries. Usually their Crap! For Electronic Protection Standards, you will probably find that the end-caps come off to give you more probe length!
I made a beginers mistake buying clamp meters. THEY ARE AC ONLY AND AC/DC MODELS and i ordered ac only xd. I realised my mistake when i got it. So be careful buying these.
Down to Milliamp, down to picofarad and defeats a clamp meter cost 3/4 times as much. Some useful links: video: th-cam.com/video/9azDW7NSCjo/w-d-xo.html video: th-cam.com/video/cFsBGUMSYmE/w-d-xo.html video: th-cam.com/video/CU92gAEwb4E/w-d-xo.html enjoy!
You can pull the shielding off the probes. The shielding is built to be removable.
i never even noticed until i accidentally twisted it..LOL
true my other digital multimeter had this also (removable plastic tip on probes).
im pretty sure there is a removable plastic sleeve around the tip. Take the sleeve off and you have more contact area and its easier to measure in tight places.
I am watching for this particular meter for a while now, read review comments on multiple sites. I think this video makes up my mind. Thanks.
I'm impressed by the quality and accuracy with the one I bought. Did some checking and found Uni-T is a company with impressive quality focus on their operations.. Very good meter.. (probe tip sleeve is removable)..
0-200mA measurement possible? how accuracy?

+dana miller Yeah, thanks. I figured that out after I posted the video. Hope the video was helpful.
Great clear video. Wondering how I would check the amperage of a car fuse using this device.

Not sure what's happening here. I never saw a multimeter that didn't read at least to 1/10th volt. But yeah...
You know you can't measure volts with the clamp, right?

i have the uni-t.. i use it in automotive for 3 years now and just ordered another one works like a charm

+blaser Clamp meter is really the only way to measure current. Having to get in serial is too much of a hassle for high amps and volts.
Thanks for the review! I was considering another DC clamp meter from the same company, this review has made up my mind, I'll get it. Good price and they seem to be quite accurate.
+Gyppor Months later, and I still love the meter! I do wish I didn't have to switch from AC to DC every time though. That's kind of my only gripe.
After 4 years, is meter still working? Just bought one of those and very happy whit it. After 3 day testing atleast..
Hello Mr. Bardwell, Does this UT210E measure AC+DC RMS or AC coupled RMS?
Thanks! Much useful!
I wonder is it fall apart already?
getting one of these for hobby.
It's fantastic.

The font, color and design of the logo and packaging is an exact replica of Hilti products and packaging. Are they related?
Can it measure the leakage current?
Hello Joshua, you can take the outer cap off, for more easy mesur, Nice:)
+Per ström Thanks, yeah. I figured that out eventually. All my multimeters until this one came with un-shrouded probes.
Per ström ,he is a new user of multimeters, doesn't know a cap is there ....

+SuperBoobaloo yes. DC mode is very sensitive to noise. You must zero before taking the reading.
Thanks, Joshua.
I have one that I use to test current from my solar panels. Some wires give a strange reading, for instance, after the decimal point, a zero and then an upside down, backwards 7. Any idea why this happens? I'm making certain the polarity is correct
I've never seen that. Reversed polarity would just show a negative number.
this is the 210-E, you have the 210-D on your shopping list, why'd you change it? I'm trying to figure out the difference and which one to get. thanks
The -E adds capacitance measurement. I haven't done a close comparison but I think it has nearly the same specs otherwise. I changed because the -D started getting hard to find with Amazon Prime.
Thanks, have a good 4th
sorry for noob question but can this work like a normal multimeter/voltmeter too, using just the probes?
Yes.
Thank you Mr Joshua
Does this model have LCD ilumination, because it has a light on the yellow switch?
+danijel124 The LED is not illuminated.
+danijel124 Yes, UT210E does have a backlight. Press and hold the yellow button to turn it on.
yes it does have a backlight..I have the 210e in my hands right now..the d model I dont know
Bro in this meter u can measure Dc current without select the Dc option. I mean at Ac dial also. U can check it. Is this a fault??
I'm sorry but I don't understand what you're asking :-/
Joshua Bardwell i mean u can measure Dc current without press the select button for DC mode. When we switch to Ac to Dc.. It shows DC amps on AC mode also
Please make a review on Fluke 362. I want to know which one is better between the uni -T UT20E and Fluke 362. Thank you.

It's even better once you mod the EEPROM. :)
Teach me master
I just ordered one from Banggood for $28 on a group buy from BLF. I have a couple of clamp meters, but they only do AC. Hopefully this is a reliable meter.
It's been good to me.
The device UT210 came with aliexpress, one of the posistors wmz12a will burst. Measured their resistance 1.4 kom. I can not find such anywhere. Do not tell me its value or can link where to buy?
Sorry, I don't know.
What meter would you recommend if you also want min/max on DC? ( to measure start currents)
+d3xterown Sorry... I don't have a recommendation there.
+Joshua Bardwell Ordered a UT216C
d3xterown can u tell me what is dc start current and where it is to be measured.
Hi / Is this device very accurate or not accurate inAccurate or not measurements/Please reply and clarify. Ut210e
It's accurate.
Hi Joshua !! I can use it for make a "Parasitic drop test"? its reads mili-voltage? please could you give me some info and reading/sets about it!
It reads to three decimal points. Whether it's accurate to 1 mV I don't know.
ok! thanks
bro please tell me does it matter for separate dallier like in this meter has option 2A, 20A and 100A ? and many meters has only option like 1000 ad/dc amps. there is no short option like 2,20amps. so does these types(1000ac/dc) of meter are not more accurate in mili or short amps like 1,2amps ?
The ones with selectable ranges usually offer more precision in the smaller ranges.
thanks for reply joshua.. u mean if i am to measure low amps like 1 and 2 so ut 210e meter is better for me for accuracy then a meter write direct 1200amsp ? m i right bro?
I think so.
u think or u have done it? any expriment ?
No that's just how they work. The whole reason they have ranges is so they can provide more precision at lower ranges.
Bro plz tell if v select the dial at continuty, diode (instead on voltage mode) and plug the probes in socket then what happen??
Diode test pushes a small forward voltage to open up a transistor and then displays the voltage drop across the transistor.
Joshua Bardwell bro what it VFC IN meter and how can we use it and for what purpose?? Plz tell
bro kindly tell me what is NCV and how does it use ?
Non contact voltage. Used to detect live AC circuits.
thanks ... does uni-t ut 210e is better then uni-t ut 203 and 204 ?
it can measure current in my data cable when i charging my phone???
yes, but for these types of meters to measure current, you need to put only the supply wire through the clamp (so a USB cable has 4 wires inside it, you'd have to open the insulation and clamp around JUST the one internal power wire)
These meters are on ebay now for $14.95, just bought one seems like a great deal if you dont need pro accuracy and features.
6.99 and free shipping from China now ...
Just a simple question. Through clamp can you measure voltage as well as current?
No. But since voltage is measured in parallel with the load, it's easy to measure voltage simply by touching probes to the points you want to measure. Current is a hassle because it must be measured in series with the load, which is why clamp current measuring is so useful.
Cheers, thanks for that
It can for dc ampere?
Yes.
Just as well they don't supply Batteries. Usually their Crap!
For Electronic Protection Standards, you will probably find that the end-caps come off to give you more probe length!
great video, much appreciated
This had to trigger so many Fluke fans :D
For 1/3 the price or less, I'll have it.
WOW That's a Real test testing a Cheap China meter with Cheap China Meter's !
I made a beginers mistake buying clamp meters. THEY ARE AC ONLY AND AC/DC MODELS and i ordered ac only xd. I realised my mistake when i got it. So be careful buying these.
+danijel124 These are AC/DC, so all good.
just a heads up the 210 a and b are ac only the 210d and 210 do both AC/DC current
Down to Milliamp, down to picofarad and defeats a clamp meter cost 3/4 times as much.
