Two things I'd like to mention having just done this service to my 85 5.0.
1. Leave the tensioner piston off until the belt is installed. Otherwise you will fight like crazy to get the belt on - prior to even pulling the release pin. The tensioner piston installs easily after the belt is on and the engine can be check rotated to verify the belt is in the rights spot before pulling the pin.
2. I agree with deleting the smog pump. Just be aware that your cooling fan pulley typically uses the smog pump as its idler/tensioner (as it was in my case) and modifying the pulley system can be challenging.
