I was doing research about the 2019 Murano and came across this review. As for the drivetrain, unfortunately, Nissan did not make any change on it for the mid-cycle refresh. I wish they could make some updates/improvements. Anyway, this review is helpful. Thanks a lot!

Low profile tires are not good in those conditions, but thanks for the video. I really like the Murano. It looks like a capable vehicle for the average person.

Would be more interested in seeing how the AWD system improves handling on the street in rain(ehich would be more helpful thwn off-roading.
Good stuff for a crossover with under 7 inches of ground clearance and no 4WD mechanicals! What happens if you damage the car when it is in your possession?
Im guessing this is how nissans AWD system works, but i noticed when you got stuck that only the front wheels were spinning. Didn't see any rotation of the rear wheels. The murano is front wheel drive biased, but when do the rear wheels get power? Looked like a FWD only model.
Nice review, really like these videos. I know you get cars when you can but do you think you will ever get a chance to take the Subaru Outback out there? Hopefully with snow.
It is good to know the capabilities of the Murano in case of a SHTF situation. For example , California wild fires. Call me paranoid, but never said never.

Open differentials. Power goes to the tire with the least grip.
you shouldn't have to back it up and gain momentum to get through the tough spots if it's awd; you could do that with 2wd

Appears to have a pretty poor AWD system. One wheel drive front and one rear. Mind you, it's not at all made for that type of driving. More made for a snowy mall parking lot.
you are right, just made for flat surface parking lot with snow, and it rolls backwards when one of the wheels goes up in the air,
yea, the awd is bad, but this is just a family crossover. doing this is considerably good. try to do it in trax or rav4.

Why doesn't it seem to be diverting power the the rear wheels when the front is slipping? Seems more FWD than AWD.

I'm a mountain biker too. Were you able to fit your mtb in the back without taking off the front wheel? (That's my requirement for my next vehicle - taking off thru-axles 3-4 times/week sucks) If so, how hard was it to get through that smaller rear hatch opening? Thanks
so like my 07 murano, the awd system isn't very useful. The rear wheels didn't seem to kick in most of the time.... well the times you could see them on screen. I wonder if you can get a platinum murano without awd.

What do you mean it wasn't built for that?? In AWD I expect more than just wheel working, regardless if it's on a snowy mall or a dirt hill. Makes no sense how it is claimed to be AWD and he can barely climb up that hill....Are you sure it's AWD and not front week drive? Why didn't your rear wheels rotate?

That's a tough one. Both are awesome though. I think the Murano is a bit more bang for your buck and looks a bit better. The Volvo is still great though.

***** Really? I have owned 2 Merc, 2 BMW a Jeep, 5 Toyota's, a corvette, Audi, and 6 Mitsubishi's.
None of the Mitsubishi's have ever been in the shop even once. Not one of the 6 even one time. There is a mentality that Mitsubishi is a bad car. Not even close. You are just hating on a brand that is popular to hate on. By far the worst cars I have ever owned was the Mercedes. The best was the Mitsubishi's. I must admit that I would have never guessed that record, but it is true. Besides, a car with an all wheel drive system from the EVO (my last car) is fine by me. It is the best. Actual owners love them.
BTW if you must buy German buy a BMW. It came in a very second to Mitsi in reliabilty. Never under any circumstance buy a Merc. Especially not an AMG.

@Steve Skinner. That's funny that you mentioned Mitsubishi. We just sold our 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander and got a 2019 Murano. The Mitsubishi was INCREDIBLY reliable. Never been had any problems (only had to replace a bolt that was rusty on the heat shield). We have had 3 Mitsubishis and 6 Nissans. NONE of the Mitsubishis have ever needed any major repairs. The Nissans had very minor issues after 110k miles. Would've gotten another Outlander but they stopped putting NAVs in them and require you to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. I wasn't comfortable relying on that when I'm driving through the middle of nowhere without phone signal lol. But Mitsus are FANTASTIC, bullet-reliable vehicles.

Nissan made the front of the 2015 Murano even uglier... this time it looks like Donald Duck! And the CVT and underpowered engine is back again. Who in their right mind would buy this over the 2015 KIA Sorento or 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe?
