I dont know if this was the composer's intention, but this song sounds almost exactly like something Yoko Shimomura would compose. Subtle use of strings behind a strong melody and a frantic pace... It's really very well done and fantastically arranged. Square... if you cant give us a Chrono Trigger 2, then at least give us a Chrono Trigger world in the next Kingdom Hearts. And while im on that train of thought, Gilgamesh would make a great bonus boss a la Sephiroth, wouldnt he?
Titles are important - had to listen to something called "Trigger, Please", ended up listening to a Shnab arrangement that I missed out on for so long... Damn, this is amazing stuff.
Right from the start this grabs you as a place somewhere else, and darned if its not amazing. It moves, shifts, and quite the fun dance for the listen. Great work!
It sounds so subtle and yet so Wicked! Holy cow every song was played perfectly! Almost like the remixer made it their song, there needs to be a Chrono trigger remake! at the beginning is thought I was from Final Fantasy 13 but then I looked at the title and remembered.
I dont deal in technicalities! Chrono Cross strikes me really more as a spiritual sequel rather than a direct sequel. What im talking about is a direct sequel.
A Video game geeks wet dream right here. what a mash up!!!! I couldn't even breathe. (I am a video game music enthusiast and holy crap never thought id find two of my favorite games remixed together.) Two very enthusiastic thumbs up
The way im imagining it, it would kinda be like Radiant Garden / The Grid (Tron) from KH2. Basically each time period featured would be like a world within a world, and actions in one would reflect in another. So perhaps more like Mickey's Castle and The Steamboat. We could even have the save points in the future world restore your health, but still leave you hungry. ;) As far as Chrono not talking, no problem. He doesnt have to speak for other characters to interact with him.
They would have to release multiple versions depending on what you did in CT, for instance, did you save Crono, did Frog turn back into Glenn, how many kittens did you make, etc. ;)
the beginning at least does seem like something pulled straight out of FF13, but... i dunno, for some reason, the later bits of the song strike me as more Shimomura. perhaps a collaboration of the two of them?
Well said, my friend. If only they'd add some of Square's classic RPGs into Kingdom Hearts eh? But I can understand why they have chosen not to do it..
True. ALTHOUGH, oooh, now you've got me excited. Why not release a duel remake/sequel, and have it be choice-based, like in Mass Effect? I'm not saying like, dialogue boxes and shit, i just mean how choices and such make a difference from game to game. That would be FANTASTIC. But while that would be amazing, i'd still settle for a CT world and Gilgamesh as a boss in KH3 or wtfe they release next.
Does anyone know where the violin part that is playing in the beginning is from? 0:36-0:40 I hear it in every cover of Chrono Trigger pieces and I've played the game myself, but I don't know (or remember) where it plays in the actual game
TheDarkMatterr The main theme almost always loops in the locations it's played ingame IIRC. That section begins the outro of the song if you listen to the whole.
Besides, if we have it on the Wii U, then we could HAVE toads and mushrooms and even Mario and Bowser. I personally think that crossover would be fuck-terrible, but hey, at least it's doable!
Not sure if this is relevant to you at this point, but it looks like they eventually did just that: th-cam.com/play/PLWk40K1PeZwFvYLZxOUOpgSTCWeQzp8t_.html
(cont) Even the rights issue would be relatively easily surmounted - put it on the Wii U. KH is owned in part by Square Enix, and by putting the next game on (another) Nintendo console, which they are obviously not adverse to, the rights issue would be negated, as the whole project would be owned by SE and Nintendo. Plus the Wii U is dying for a quality exclusive third-party title.
Or just split up. Be Square again. Go back to the drawing board. Get Yasunori to create another master piece....God damn it Lighting returns....Damnit Square Enix...
I'd rather see a world based on the original content from Mario RPG. I mean, as long as you never have a Toad or mushroom appear I think you'd be good. Geno as a party member? Smithy as a boss?
I'm sorry but no. Square Enix would run Chrono Break (the name for the sequel before it was canceled) into the ground. It would be a 3D game, probably try to establish it's own battle gimmick apart from techs like Chrono Cross that will fail, try to make it appeal to more than the audience that begs for it (rightfully so but there's a limit). Also how would a Chrono Trigger world work in KH? All different eras and Crono doesn't talk? Other than the rights held by Nintendo/Square Enix for it.
A deaf person who gets a cochlear implant for the first time might get a good idea of what good music is from this one. Or maybe I'm channeling an episode of House.

if only this was performed live in a really nice music hall... awesome piano quartet!
Titles are important - had to listen to something called "Trigger, Please", ended up listening to a Shnab arrangement that I missed out on for so long... Damn, this is amazing stuff.
Shnabubula is one of the greatest pianists and remixers of all time! this is among his greatest work!
Right from the start this grabs you as a place somewhere else, and darned if its not amazing. It moves, shifts, and quite the fun dance for the listen. Great work!
From far one of the best remixes I've heard since a long time.
This just found a permanent home between my ears.
goosebumps from this. wow i feel old now...
Predictably amazing, casually incredible -- the standard Shnabubula package.
It sounds so subtle and yet so Wicked! Holy cow every song was played perfectly! Almost like the remixer made it their song, there needs to be a Chrono trigger remake! at the beginning is thought I was from Final Fantasy 13 but then I looked at the title and remembered.
Rock on!
The name of this remix is reason enough to like it. Great work as always!
still fire
oh my god this remix is amazing.
the violin makes my hair stand
I dont deal in technicalities! Chrono Cross strikes me really more as a spiritual sequel rather than a direct sequel. What im talking about is a direct sequel.
FAN - TA - STIC. Shnabubula, your remixes is the best!
That was absolutely nastalgic. Caught every song variation you all played.
A Video game geeks wet dream right here. what a mash up!!!! I couldn't even breathe. (I am a video game music enthusiast and holy crap never thought id find two of my favorite games remixed together.) Two very enthusiastic thumbs up
This is pretty great. Of course, it is Shnabubula.
Shnabubula is the greatest!
Violin and piano... UNF. Insta-love right here!
The way im imagining it, it would kinda be like Radiant Garden / The Grid (Tron) from KH2. Basically each time period featured would be like a world within a world, and actions in one would reflect in another. So perhaps more like Mickey's Castle and The Steamboat. AHHHH estou estasiado me tornei um fã de vocês.
The violin...! ^_^
this is awesome! one of my favorite in a while
Shnabubula, you amazing, amazing man.
This is insane! I love it!!
That moment at 4:00 man soooo gooood
They would have to release multiple versions depending on what you did in CT, for instance, did you save Crono, did Frog turn back into Glenn, how many kittens did you make, etc. ;)
I guess I shall take this as a cue to look through this one's works. c:
I love this one.
This is mindblowing!
the beginning at least does seem like something pulled straight out of FF13, but... i dunno, for some reason, the later bits of the song strike me as more Shimomura. perhaps a collaboration of the two of them?
Great Work!
I was thinking it more sounds like something that would've been composed by Masashi Hamauzu myself.
I don't even know Chrono Trigger and this music is beautiful. No nostalgia necessary.
itoril You really must experience it, one of the greatest RPGs ever made.
I'll give it a go sometime, thanks.
Well said, my friend. If only they'd add some of Square's classic RPGs into Kingdom Hearts eh? But I can understand why they have chosen not to do it..
Woooooow!! Just fuggin WOW!
Has Shnabubula done any Tenchu or Shenmue remixes? that could be awesome
Chrono Trigger 2 is technically Chrono Cross.
he's not the composer, he's the arranger
If anyone was to ask me what the term 'music' means, I'd make him/her listen to this.
It sounds really similiar to Muramasa: The Demon Blade ost at times.
Holy shit, those piano fills, Jesus Christ.
Chrono Trigger ♥
Amazing
It'd be hilarious to see him lusting after a keyblade, too.

Oh yes I think so definitely yes
GILGAMESH
The hype...
Wow, brilliant.
They should let the fans handle it. But we all know what happened to that -.-
Does anyone know where the violin part that is playing in the beginning is from?
0:36-0:40 I hear it in every cover of Chrono Trigger pieces and I've played the game
myself, but I don't know (or remember) where it plays in the actual game
It plays in the opening OAV of the game from the ps1 or DS title.
Oh that's right I just looked it up! I saw the intro once when I first bought it but that was it so I had forgotten thanks!
TheDarkMatterr The main theme almost always loops in the locations it's played ingame IIRC. That section begins the outro of the song if you listen to the whole.
Sike turn on your SNES and you'll hear it quite quickly. It's the intro to the start of the MAIN THEME. Literally the first few seconds
Besides, if we have it on the Wii U, then we could HAVE toads and mushrooms and even Mario and Bowser.
I personally think that crossover would be fuck-terrible, but hey, at least it's doable!
You should make a playlist for the chronotrigger songs
Not sure if this is relevant to you at this point, but it looks like they eventually did just that: th-cam.com/play/PLWk40K1PeZwFvYLZxOUOpgSTCWeQzp8t_.html
Damit...why can't it just go on longer...the end just kind of teases you doesn't it? am i alone in thinking this?
Memories
Two RPGs I guarantee I would buy the remake of: Chrono Trigger and FF7 (not on console though - I don't care for consoles much)
why not both? there are many worlds and options to be had!
why does chrono mix so well into final fantasy songs ^^?
Look up an ocremix called a foray into the eastern horizon
Nice!
Trigga, please
Mah Trigga!
hot damn this is good!!
Holy fucking shit this is amazing!!!

Shnabubula is the fucking shit!
What song is played at 5:30
That was a brief original flourish, it wasn't arranging a particular theme there. :-)
OverClocked ReMix That is totally awesome. So it is royalty free music? Does PoD have some partiture on it?
Or just split up. Be Square again. Go back to the drawing board. Get Yasunori to create another master piece....God damn it Lighting returns....Damnit Square Enix...

apologies, im not the most musically knowledgeable person.
