    Sanʽani Arabic
    Native to: Yemen
    Native speakers: 11.1 million (2015)
    Language family: Afro-Asiatic
The Sanaani dialect is distinguished among Yemeni dialects by its use of the [ɡ] sound in the place of the classical Arabic /q/ (ق qāf ), as well as its preservation of the classical Arabic palatal pronunciation of /ɟ/ (ج ǧim ).
Along with these phonological similarities to other dialects, Sanʽani Arabic also has several unique features. It uses the classical mā in the meaning of "what", as well as in negations. Unlike the classical usage, this mā is used without distinction in verbal and nominal sentences alike. Sanʽani Arabic represents the future aspect with a complex array of prefixes, depending on the person of the verb. For first-person verbs the prefix (ša-) or (‘ad) is used. The derivation of (ša-) is apparently related to the classical (sa-), and (‘ad) is likely an abbreviation of (ba‘d), meaning "after". For all other persons in Sanʽa proper the simple prefix (‘a-) is used, although many of the villages around Sanʽa extend the use of (ša-) for all persons.
If you are interested to see your native language/dialect to be featured here. Submit your recordings to crystalsky0124@gmail.com. Looking forward to hearing from you!

It could be because Yemeni (the San'ani variety specifically) conserves diphthongs and pronunciations from Classical Arabic, lost in most or all Arabic varieties.
It's actually the least divergent variety from Classical Arabic (phonologically speaking).
      E.g. Classical Arabic: kayfa "how"
      San'ani: kayf
      Najdi: tsēf
      Gulf: čēf
      Levantine: kīf
      Egyptian: kēf*
      Iraqi: čiēf*
      *Cognate, not translation

    • @BeautifuloONightmare
      @BeautifuloONightmare 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

That's normal because North African language Dardja is a form of Tamazight. We have different dialects of Tamazight which has nothing to do with Arabic and we have different dialects of Dardja which is a mix between Tamazight, French, Arabic with our own gramar rules and pronunciation and other vocabulary that might come from neighbouring countries such as Spain or Italy. So, of course Arabs and ARab speakers can't understand North Africans because we have our own languages and people should get over it and be more accepting of each other. Peace

it's a shame that me, a spanish speakers with no acknowledge of arabian hear all arabian accents the same :(

    • @deda9829
      @deda9829 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

I think it'd help if you listen to more local media. The more universal the media is whether it's a movie, tv show, or video, the more the Arabic will be watered down into "white Arabic", i.e. Arabic that is colloquial but avoids speech that is specific to a country.
It's similar to different Spanish dialects but on a bigger scale, closer to different languages.
I'd recommend listening to folk music from different regions to see the difference:
      Yemen San'ani:
Suha Al Masri - Ya Lagi Aldhaye'aa
      Maroua Kriaa - Shaeish Ahebak
      Levantine:
      Nassef Zeytoun - Bi rabbek
      Diana Haddad - Ya 3aibo
Amer Zayan - 3a2liyi el charkiyyi
      Egyptian:
El Hantour - Saad Alsagher & Nicole Saba
      Amr Diab - Youm Talat
      Ruby - Leih Beydari Keda
      Sudanese:
      Nada Algala - Ana Kushia
      Aleila bellel
      Tunisian:
      Waldi Lakhal - Yal Fogra
      Zaza show - goulouli winha
      Algerian:
Mok Saib - je m'en fous
      Rachid Taha - Ya rayah
      Moroccan:
Aymane Serhani - Nebghi djini b'survet
      Zina Daoudia - Waer waer

Yemenites are related to Ethiopians just as Levantines, Gulf Arabs, and Iraqis. they only speak Semitic langauge and thats it.
Yemen is the origin of Qahtanite Arabs only, or as we called ourself (Sabaeans). While other branch of Arabs are Adnanites originated from the Levant, both of them are Arabs no one is considered original or any other b.s.
Yemenite Arabs (Qahtanis) are the ones who trace their ancestors in Saba', modern Yemen has 2-3 million African migrants and other big percent of Afro Arabs in costal cities (I assume the guy with the comment is Afro Arab), while the further you go from the coasts the more pure Qahtani Arabs you find. Qahtanis and Adnanites are not very different genetically.
