Thanks for the video. I had inserted the battery the wrong way as I could see the writing. As soon as I understood your tip, I reversed battery and all is fine.
Great vid. Stiil didnt work until I opened the car door manually using the key. Started the engine. Then when I removed the key it functioned as it should. 👍🏼
Did not work the first time. My key seemed to have lost its coding. Anyway, the fresh battery did nothing. After double checking I had not re-inserted the old one, measuring both batteries (old: 3.16V, new: 3.28V) and going back and forth between the two, suddenly the electronics reacted to the new battery just fine. Must have been some dirt on the contacts... even though I had specifically squirted in some contact spray to prevent exactly that from happening. Beats me. 🤷♂
Please ignore, I managed to fix this with some online research. This may help someone….. 1) insert key into ignition and turn on the engine 2) then turn off engine but leave the key in the ignition 3) Then press down and hold down the door central locking button on the dash for at least 10 seconds and after that still keep it held down. 4) With the dash central locking button still held down - Press the lock button on the key twice. Now take the key out the ignition and try to see it it locks / unlocks doors.
@@waynep613 my partner had problems with a flat battery in the fob, changed battery and still didn't work, will try your remedy tomorrow, why dosn't it tell you to do this in the hand book ,??
Hi The Car Key Man - at 1.12 you say "If you damage that, the car won't start" - I don't think this is correct - I think 'all' this circuit board does is open the car door remotely - it has nothing to do with the starting of the engine. ie if the key battery goes flat then you can open the door manually (one that has a key hole in it), and start the car as normal. On a Dacia Duster.

Im trying to get a replacement key and I contacted my dealer but they are charging me US$300 for a copy, is there anyway I could get it cheaper?
Hi Carlos, I'm sure a local Auto Locksmith will be able to help. Are you in the UK?

Hi Neil, does it have a separate chip?
@@TheCarKeyMan I don't know, haven't needed to replace the battery yet. :)
