Have seen this with my own eyes. Friend knew she was pregnant however she NEVER showed. When she talked with her OB/GYN he confirmed that some women carry more internally than externally. She ate like crazy yet only gained 10 lbs. Wore the same size 8/10 the entire pregnancy. She had a full term little girl who weighed 7 lbs. I promise you, if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes I never would’ve believed it.

You do not have a cycle when you’re pregnant. You can have implantation bleeding, spotting, cramps, etc, but it is NOT your period. You don’t ovulate when you’re pregnant so it’s not possible.
Maybe they gifted her in adoption? So many couples wait for many years before a baby comes available to them for adoption. If a woman wasn't expecting to have a child, and then boom! they have a child they had no idea they were carrying, she isn't as attached to the baby as a mother who knows she is carrying would be. So often birth moms who are convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt they do not want to have children in their lives and so intend to gift their child in adoption change their minds once they give birth because bonding between mother and child does occur during pregnancy.

The medical world knows the risk factors, even if they don't fully understand the physical mechanisms that cause SIDs. When 4x as many babies born to smokers (or regularly around other smokers) die from SIDs, u have to take that seriously. Why increase a baby's risk of dying suddenly?
The one thing that I really just don't understand or like is when the medical field changes their "opinionated facts" constantly, so you never get a straight answer. Dark chocolate is good for you, then it's bad for you, then it's good for you again. Also, some doctors are wayyy too radical in their own personal feelings regarding certain issues or situations that they can be very cruel in the manner of explaining something. While another doctor, same degree and same work experience years, will talk humanly to you and be real, honest and respectful. Any nurses or doctors should not give a patient or the parent of a child/patient fear based answers that are biased. I was told that they have no idea what causes SIDS and that they use that term WHEN THEY CAN'T FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG. I "room-share" and "bed-share" with my daughter and she just turned one on September 18th. She didn't like sleeping in the bassinet and wouldn't sleep unless it was on my chest. So, I let our pediatrician know, we tried everything possible, and I just made/took extra, extra, extra special care to sacrifice my sleep and my back (because I had to stay at a certain angle for the duration of her sleeping) and we were told that bed-sharing would increase the risk of SIDS extremely. Adrianna Marie is healthy, happy and I feel like it actually created more trust and bonding between Adrianna and myself; along with our "family time" ritual that I had developed with my fiance where all 3 of us are in bed and play or read or snuggle together and Adrianna loves & looks forward to it every single day. She knows the time & when I say outloud "It's family time! No cell phones, just family!", Adrianna understands what I am saying and gets all excited. My point in this extremely long comment is that some people in the medical field have what's similar to like a "God Complex" view of themselves, trust yourself as a mother or father and listen to your gut, be vigilant with your child and forming that closeness with them, you instinctively can tell if something is wrong or if something should/shouldn't happen.

It still supports the conclusion, that doctors are correct (when it comes to the human body) far more on average, than non-doctors. Official recommendations aren't just made by one doctor - they go through extensive analysis by massive amounts of doctors and researchers, before they are made. I think it's important not to think in absolutes (that if a doctor is wrong once, this means they are always wrong. Or if a parent is correct once, this means they are always correct). That isn't realistic. It's also important to acknowledge, I think, that other things aren't easily divided into 'good' or 'bad', either. Sometimes medical recommendations appear to conflict with each other, because of the unavoidable complexity of the human body. Dark chocolate is both 'good' and 'bad', for example. Both positions are correct. It carries antioxidants that offer some protection against cancer. But if u eat too much of it, the fat in it will be a risk factor for heart disease. This is always a challenge for the medical world, in giving public advice. How do doctors convey to the public, straightfoward advice on what not to do - and what not to do - when the human body is far more complex than that?... (continued)...

Science doesn't leap from knowing zero about a topic, to knowing absolutely everything. It's a gradual process, in which important breakthroughs occur, which gradually lead to more complete knowledge. For example, during the plague outbreaks hundreds of years ago, the monarchs (on advice of their physicians), would close theatres, etc., to avoid large gatherings. Those who could afford to, would leave cities, to get away from other people. They understood even then, that people in close proximity to each other, tended to end up with the plague more often. They understood it was a risk factor. But it was the 19th century, before they understood exactly WHY (germs, and how they spread). And yet, even with the plague, there were those at higher risk (in close proximity to others), who DIDN'T get the plague. I don't think there's any medical condition, which EVERYONE with higher risk factors will develop. Not even smoking will kill everyone who smokes - but lung cancer undoubtedly develops more often, in those who do. With the plague, those who avoided it in close proximity to others, were probably just very lucky. They probably just avoided (by chance) touching anything, that smo with plague had touched, etc. With lung cancer, SIDs, etc. - there's probably some internal risk factors/protection, which aren't yet fully understood. But when the risk factors are so clear, why risk it? Because all the causes/protective factors aren't yet known, how can anyone know if their child has additional internal risk factors - or additional protective factors? So when u have no guarantee either way, why play with fire? Ur child may have the yet-unidentified risk factors, but would be OK if they weren't also exposed to KNOWN risk factors. As I said, nobody is a 'bad' parent, because these issues aren't discussed much in public, by the scientific world. But please consider them. I'm really happy that for ur child, it worked out well, and u got additional bonding out of it. But bonding can occur in other ways, so I really am still of the opinion, it's not worth risking in general.

You do not have a cycle when you’re pregnant. You can have implantation bleeding, spotting, cramps, etc, but it is NOT your period. You don’t ovulate when you’re pregnant so it’s not possible.

So many couples wait for many years before a baby comes available to them for adoption. If a woman wasn't expecting to have a child, and then boom! they have a child they had no idea they were carrying, she isn't as attached to the baby as a mother who knows she is carrying would be. So often birth moms who are convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt they do not want to have children in their lives and so intend to gift their child in adoption change their minds once they give birth because bonding between mother and child does occur during pregnancy.

The medical world knows the risk factors, even if they don't fully understand the physical mechanisms that cause SIDs.
When 4x as many babies born to smokers (or regularly around other smokers) die from SIDs, u have to take that seriously. Why increase a baby's risk of dying suddenly?
The one thing that I really just don't understand or like is when the medical field changes their "opinionated facts" constantly, so you never get a straight answer. Dark chocolate is good for you, then it's bad for you, then it's good for you again.
Also, some doctors are wayyy too radical in their own personal feelings regarding certain issues or situations that they can be very cruel in the manner of explaining something. While another doctor, same degree and same work experience years, will talk humanly to you and be real, honest and respectful. Any nurses or doctors should not give a patient or the parent of a child/patient fear based answers that are biased.
I was told that they have no idea what causes SIDS and that they use that term WHEN THEY CAN'T FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG. I "room-share" and "bed-share" with my daughter and she just turned one on September 18th. She didn't like sleeping in the bassinet and wouldn't sleep unless it was on my chest. So, I let our pediatrician know, we tried everything possible, and I just made/took extra, extra, extra special care to sacrifice my sleep and my back (because I had to stay at a certain angle for the duration of her sleeping) and we were told that bed-sharing would increase the risk of SIDS extremely. Adrianna Marie is healthy, happy and I feel like it actually created more trust and bonding between Adrianna and myself; along with our "family time" ritual that I had developed with my fiance where all 3 of us are in bed and play or read or snuggle together and Adrianna loves & looks forward to it every single day. She knows the time & when I say outloud "It's family time! No cell phones, just family!", Adrianna understands what I am saying and gets all excited. My point in this extremely long comment is that some people in the medical field have what's similar to like a "God Complex" view of themselves, trust yourself as a mother or father and listen to your gut, be vigilant with your child and forming that closeness with them, you instinctively can tell if something is wrong or if something should/shouldn't happen.

I fully acknowledge that doctors can be wrong. There's nobody in the world who is correct 100%,all of the time. I'm actually a forensic psychologist, and trust me - I criticise the medical world, along with my own profession, when I think it's important to. You're right doctors (or anyone, actually) can have God Complexes, blind spots, 'confirmation bias' (basically, when smo only pays attention to evidence that supports their beliefs, whilst ignoring evidence that doesn't), etc.
However, I've had years of experience - and read extensive research (whilst doing my best to note any flaws in said research). It still supports the conclusion, that doctors are correct (when it comes to the human body) far more on average, than non-doctors. Official recommendations aren't just made by one doctor - they go through extensive analysis by massive amounts of doctors and researchers, before they are made.
I think it's important not to think in absolutes (that if a doctor is wrong once, this means they are always wrong. Or if a parent is correct once, this means they are always correct). That isn't realistic.
It's also important to acknowledge, I think, that other things aren't easily divided into 'good' or 'bad', either. Sometimes medical recommendations appear to conflict with each other, because of the unavoidable complexity of the human body.
Dark chocolate is both 'good' and 'bad', for example. Both positions are correct. It carries antioxidants that offer some protection against cancer. But if u eat too much of it, the fat in it will be a risk factor for heart disease.
This is always a challenge for the medical world, in giving public advice. How do doctors convey to the public, straightfoward advice on what not to do - and what not to do - when the human body is far more complex than that?... (continued)...
... (continued) The other thing to remember, is that doctors don't have to be able to tell u exactly what causes SIDs, to be able to tell u what increases the risk. All they have to do to tell u the risk factors, is analyse the conditions under which individual babies died.
Again, wide research occurs (which goes through hundreds of checks by other specialist doctors and researchers), before avoiding these factors are made official advice. Science doesn't leap from knowing zero about a topic, to knowing absolutely everything. It's a gradual process, in which important breakthroughs occur, which gradually lead to more complete knowledge.
For example, during the plague outbreaks hundreds of years ago, the monarchs (on advice of their physicians), would close theatres, etc., to avoid large gatherings. Those who could afford to, would leave cities, to get away from other people. They understood even then, that people in close proximity to each other, tended to end up with the plague more often. They understood it was a risk factor. But it was the 19th century, before they understood exactly WHY (germs, and how they spread).
And yet, even with the plague, there were those at higher risk (in close proximity to others), who DIDN'T get the plague. I don't think there's any medical condition, which EVERYONE with higher risk factors will develop. Not even smoking will kill everyone who smokes - but lung cancer undoubtedly develops more often, in those who do.
With the plague, those who avoided it in close proximity to others, were probably just very lucky. They probably just avoided (by chance) touching anything, that smo with plague had touched, etc. With lung cancer, SIDs, etc. - there's probably some internal risk factors/protection, which aren't yet fully understood.
But when the risk factors are so clear, why risk it? Because all the causes/protective factors aren't yet known, how can anyone know if their child has additional internal risk factors - or additional protective factors? So when u have no guarantee either way, why play with fire? Ur child may have the yet-unidentified risk factors, but would be OK if they weren't also exposed to KNOWN risk factors.
As I said, nobody is a 'bad' parent, because these issues aren't discussed much in public, by the scientific world. But please consider them. I'm really happy that for ur child, it worked out well, and u got additional bonding out of it. But bonding can occur in other ways, so I really am still of the opinion, it's not worth risking in general.
