I may be biased, but I'd certainly enjoy hearing your thoughts on other songs! ;)

There are so many things about this song I love as someone whose actually played cult of the lamb. I don’t think I’ll get everything but some things off the top of my head:
    1. The chorus line “he who waits beneath” - not only is it a clever little ‘oh respectful and ominous way to refer to our god’ but also its *literally* what the guy is called in-game! His name is He Who Waits, and we learn later that his name is Narinder!
    2. “Lethargy is heresy” you can give your followers a necklace in-game that prevents them from sleeping. They will no longer need to sleep and can work throughout both day and night
    3. That little humming in the background? It’s faint but you can hear it at some points: it’s reminiscent to the actual in-game music! There’s a few parts - most noticeable with Clauneck’s part (the tarot guy).
    4. Mentions of sins! You can start collecting sin from your followers after defeating 3 bishops.
    5. “Heavy hangs the neck that wears the crown” - not only mentioning the heavy responsibilities of the Red Crown’s vessel - you are meant to go out and kill the bishops and build your own cult and free He Who Waits, you’re not the only red crown vessel who has been tasked with this, just the current - but also, Lambert was beheaded at the start of the game! Its how they meet He Who Waits (who is a 3 eyed cat if anyone wants to know) so its just a funny little reference to me.
    6. The whole donation bit - yeah cults rely on the funds of their followers, but also it’s a mechanic in game! Both as a doctrine and as something you get during sermons.
    7. Clauneck’s part is just fantastic. He’s the bird thing with the tarot - you can hear his in game noises in the background music! He sounds like creaking wood. Im not gonna analyze the lyrics that much because frankly, there’s so much there that I can’t figure out where to stop. Clauneck is a character in game you meet on your crusades, he draws you three tarot cards and you can pick one for a specific battle boost. From more health, to giving damage when you roll and hit someone, to a lot of other really helpful benefits.
    8. Fervor! The line “for your fervour has been fated now” fervor is an actual thing in-game! however its used during the battle mechanics, its still cool as fuck that stupes included it.
    9. Speaking of you can use devotion in-game to upgrade your cult and get more things. items like buildings for the cult: better houses, better farms, outhouses, scarecrows, quality of life items etc.
    10. OH. the line “lest you be plated at the feast”! Thats my hands down favorite line because of the double entendre. You can be a cannibalistic cult in game! You can harvest the meat of followers who died and have doctrines based on cannibalism. So this line has two meanings to me: if you refuse to pray and submit to our god, then you will either be sacrificed to Narinder (thus giving the cult a power boost), OR, you can be eaten! Either way, you will be sustenance for the flock.

It absolutely is lol. Stupes just packs so much into one track and video that it's a rewarding experience to rewatch it three or four times. It must be a massive effort to put out content that's that dense with information and visuals. I love watching, but my anxiety spikes the moment I think of trying to do it myself lol.

  • @Aulern
    @Aulern ปีที่แล้ว +33

Stupes gives a whole banquet so there's a lot to eat even if you devour a lot the first course! I'm always torn between a reactor breaking it down fully in the video or not because I want them to enjoy the song as a whole first, just like the average viewer got. It's what the song deserves, especially when the viewer knows it hits that good spot. 👍

Thing is, you can do that and still rewatch it half a dozen times to get something new each one. But it's so packed full of interesting stuff that you get all these thoughts midway through and it brings them out.

stupes is always underrated lol should be way more popular. I mean every aspect. lyricism rhymes pattern artistically hell they even get philosophical with it.

    1. You used right pronouns, many reactors are using wrong pronouns
    2. You said that song is awesome

For high-speed clever lyrics, try "No One's Home" or "Ad Infinitum" (although with the latter, it helps to either read up on it or play Deltarune 2).

If you felt a bit overwhelmed you should take a peak at Ad infinitum, its insane. Or if you want a comedic song Vending machine of Love is fantastic.
