I choose Voice Play any day. Their singing blends so much smoother & easier on the ears.They are the masters of theatrical acapella, nobody does it better. That's why they are called The Theater Kids of acapella.

The Bass Gang legit weaponized Marwan in this. I mean seriously, the army could just unleash a volley of purple Marwan savagery at the enemy and bring them straight to their knees!

The scream that Kaz let out, "Marwan-ah!" when Marwan hit the low note on end, just made me smile so wide. You two just never cease to entertain me.
All the characters are from the Haunted Mansion in Disney Park rides. Geoff is Silas Crump, the cemetery Caretaker; Layne is the Hatbox Ghost; Cesar is Madame Leota in the Crystal Ball; Eli is Alexander Nitrokoff (standing on a box of dynamite. Hence, his "Boom!") from the stretching room poster (on the wall behind him), and Lauren is Constance Hathaway, the Ghost Bride.
Did you hear Eli say "hello" when they sing "Knock, knock! I'm inside your room now (Eli's Hello)"? It's very quick! Plus, Elizabeth Zharoff (The Charismatic Voice) lends her voice to the background scene with the many ghosts flying around.
Those were ALL characters directly from the Haunted Mansion Rides at the Disney Parks......Geoff, the 'Grave digger", Layne..the 'Hatbox Ghost'.....was originally in the ride, but malfunctioned, but rumour has it, that the Ghost WILL be back in 2023. Cesar..Fortune teller "madam Leota" in the crystal ball.......Lauren, is the "Bride" at the end of the ride, bidding us to 'Hurry back'. Eli is the character of Alexander Nitrokoff..Russian...who died by explosion, as the portraits....strectch, his fate is revealed,....the porteait on the wall behind him, show what it looked like on the ride, Eli is standing on a Keg of Dynamite, the red flashing light is the burning fuse.....>^^

I absolutely love love LOVE how Voiceplay fused Haunted Mansion with this completely non-Disney song in such a playful, fun, and slightly unnerving way. I also love love LOVE how Bass Gang creeped me the f**k out with their more dark, disturbing, and absolutely delightfully freaky version. Lauren Paley's voice will forever be the soundtrack of my nightmares...and I mean that in the very best way. As always, you ladies make me laugh, and always have my favorite reactions!🤣
In the Voiceplay version, Elizabeth Zharoff does the background sounds for the flying ghosts. :)
Oh, and when Lauren says "I'm coming in your room now", Eli does a little wave and says "Hello!". Hilarious

The VP BTS is amazing! Tony is using pupppeteering skills with fishline to levitate the crystal ball and the effect is so cool. Layne's makeup was awesome to watch come to "life".

@@Simi_Rose Voice Play always stays true to each original song they do while putting their own little spin on it. They told the story like it was supposed to be, " one little boy hiding " not several boys. Voice Play kept their performance in context to the original. They are very playful at times while being scary as well. They don't like to totally freak people out.
The part that made my jaw drop was when Marwan hit that LOW note and when they dropped out as the screen turned red. I also saw that Tomi folded backwards in the back too 👀
The song has an interesting history. It just appeared on a Korean channel that does music with Vocaloids, including a VERY creepy animation. The animation makes it clear that the song is telling the story of a boy being chased by a malevolent spirit possessing a girl, who is sadistically forcing him to play a game of hide and seek for his very life. It possessed him at the end and looks for its next victim.
The song was then translated into English a couple of years later by a channel that translates Vocaloid songs. It appears to be by far the most popular song on that channel, by a huge margin.
The Laura went viral on TikTok singing it in her stairwell, leading to both of these fine groups reaching out for a colab.

Your reaction to Voiceplay's version is amazing, hilarious, and priceless. Geoff's earth-rattlers were awesome, and with any decent headphone set, it kinda makes your brain rattle around with the vibrations. Lauren's siren voice is exquisite - I really need to hear more from her, it's almost hypnotic. Voiceplay are always up to the task - I wish I had just a smidge of their talent / ability.
The Bass Gang's version: Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they are called The Bass Gang because there's oodles of bass notes 😁😉no matter what song they are making a cover of (just as an example, Hooked On a Feeling). Ladies - loved both of your shocked / scared / freaked reaction to this version. Yes, Marwan has a li'l esplainin' to do, methinks. 🤣😂
To be honest, I heard The Bass Gang's version first, yet I really enjoy both versions presented here. I used to sing myself (2nd bass), but I think I've let it slide way too long ... I'm in my 50's now, and haven't stretched the vocal chords for more than 30 years. May have lost a lot of ability - if you don't use it, you lose it! 😉

Okay, my opinion...musically I like Voiceplay's better, because it adds the elements of The Haunted Mansion ride, and mind you, The Bass Gang's was great musically, and scarier for me than VP's because I have a fear of dolls and ventriloquist dummies. Funny story on that though, as a kid I used to have nightmares about Chucky, just from the commercials, I was too young to see it in theaters. Those nightmares lasted for years, until I saw "Bride of Chucky" and it was so bad, I never had a Chucky nightmare again.

New viewer here. Great reaction to both songs! As far as which version I think is "better", it depends on the mood I'm in. VP's is a bit more upbeat and lighthearted and makes me smile where as TBG's is darker and freakier/spookier and gives me the chills. Don't quite get goosebumps all the way down into my legs, but it gets close. Love both versions though. And as far as the hate and animosity towards one version/group or the other I've seen in the previous comments, as a few others have pointed out, it's subjective based on your personal preference. Not everyone is going to like the same things. I also think that if every group did the same "version" or "style" of the same song the same as the original, it would get pretty old and boring pretty quickly. I would also wager that everyone has a few songs that their "favorite" version is no where close to the original. Just my personal opinion. Anyways ....

Of all the reactors I’ve seen on VPs version, you are the only one to catch, or at least mention, Geoff’s C#1 at the end of the song.
Loved Lauren in both of them. She seems to be better integrated into Voiceplay's version.

I agree, I think the Bass Gangs version was totally out of context with the way it was originally written. Voice Play stayed true to the original song & played it out perfectly.

VoicePlay's version was amazing, everything -on point- next level as per usual.
BG's version was pretty good, but the video is enough to give you vertigo from the wildly swinging camera. It's hard to get engrossed in the music when the visuals are distracting in a not-great way.
Great reaction and hilarious. I've jammed along with them on the drums, and the ridiculously low vocal notes are so low that it made my 2 snare drums rattle.
