Got my Haven July of 2023 and have slept in it a few dozen times now. Love everything about it; my version is a little older and the net is attached somewhat differently. I like what I'm seeing on yours better, so they have continued to improve! If anyone is going to get one, get the XL, the added weight is negligible and the few extra inches of width would be super appreciated.
I bought a hammock/tent last year..theyre awesome. I'm going on a 4 day canoe trip tomorrow on the oswegatchie River in Upstate New york, I'm definitely taking it with me. It's not the haven hammock, but still. Mine weighs 4 lbs, not too bad
Great review. You can pull the whole hammock and tarp into a snakeskin, which helps settling it quickly and in bad weather. Also helps when stuffing it into a dry bag or rucksack. The original inflatable air mattress was the bit that let's it down. But the new one is much better.
Thank you for reviewing this hammock. I’ve got an Amok hammock that I’ve used for a few years. It has many of the same features as this hammock and it uses an air mattress too. It can also be used as a chair for a similar weight but it packs down much smaller. I can also use my Amok in a hammock hot tent.
Got one of these about 2 years ago. They’re great, except for the air mattress. The air valve on mine was a different style. It was horrible, but I might try the new one you seem to have been sent. Great video! Thanks for all the hard work and keep it up!
Huh... Very interesting. I appreciate the closer look from someone I trust. I have seen these and never gave them a thought, now I'm intrigued! Thanks Dave!
This is awesome, i reached out to haven tents a few years ago and suggested they contact dave to review. The haven is very multi purpose compared to otehr tarp and hammock systems, and lighter as well, it can be a ground tent with walking poles easily and fits nicely on hammock towhitch stands....
I have two of the XLs. I'm still prefering a bunched end hammock, but my wife refuses to sleep in anything other than her Haven. The new TruLevel pad seems to have taken care of the previous "taco" issue. Last time I had it out, it stayed inflated for a week without topping off the air. As far as straps go, I've done the stock straps, whoopies, OneWind cinch buckles and finally tried the Superior Gear suspension straps. Superior Gear for the win. Its so much easier dialing in the tension with the Superior straps. I still put up a bigger tarp, mostly because we set up two hammocks together, but also because the fly doesnt give much coverage in tarp mode. It's great for single shelter, just not so much for outside living in rainy weather. Next mods will be tent poles across the top to hold open the fly and cinched down with shock cord. After that will be reflectix under the pad and at the head and foot end. Overall, its a great hammock and ground bivy system that pairs very well with the Zenbivy 30" sleep systems. Tip: Im not sure if the old stock is gone, but the Blue tents had the old zipper system that is kind of a PITA. The Green XL and Safari have the updated zippers that are easier to get in and out.
I'd like to try a hammock tent. Permanent injuries sustained at work in the last few years have made traditional hammock camping very uncomfortable. A flat-lay hammock could be the solution. I also like the option for ground camping if no trees are available. Food for thought.
Thats a really cool tent, i bet my brother would love it on his camping days. He likes going out alone for a few days when he needs a break. Thank you fir the review ❤
Thanks for your input. The Haven Tent may not be the ideal setup for backpacking along the Appalachian Trail and so on. But I’m sure it would be doable for a short weekend trek to that special secluded spot that you can only reach by foot and that no one else is aware of. But where it shines I believe, is when it comes to an extended canoe or kayak trip. I bought one and really like it and wished I had it when I and a good friend of mine kayaked around portions of Isle Royale. And as long as you have trees to suspend it between, you should have no problem having a good nights sleep. I’m sure it would work well with bike camping, and I could go on and on how I’m satisfied with the Haven Tent.
Dave, as a suggestion, I've seen in other videos where they leave the fly connected to the Hammock. After you get your straps ready to go, just hook the first carabiner, pull it out of the sack and hook the second carabiner. Fast and easy especially if it is raining
The Ridgelight is awesome if you carry a powerbank. It has stepless dimming, and at minimum it shuts off after about 2 minutes, so you can get settled and then sleep.
i bought one this summer with the bundle, pad cover and carbon fiber poles. Great night sleep and i love it. Fits perfectly in a FILBE assault pack too.
Great vid Dave been curious about this set up.where did you get your hat Dave ? It's a very nice hat I would like to get one myself thanks for sharing the info
i also use it as a good ground bivvy just using a couple of tree branches driven into the ground and run a couple of guy lines from the hammock to the branches for stability and put down a tarp footprint first with the main tarp as the waterproof overhang. it even quicker to setup than its primary hammock configuration.
That whole setup would probably go into an oversized snake skin like I use on my Sierra Madre Ninox setup. That would speed setup and not need the tarp separate.
I have been looking at these for some time I think I have read read all the reviews and all their website I think. I have been hoping you would do a review.
Looks like a nice setup! But I’m still waiting for the Pathfinder hammock and tarp to get back in stock! Dave you’re looking good sir! You still doing carnivore?
Negative on the mattress. There's only a couple of options for the mattress. The baffles HAVE to go side to side instead of head to foot. Otherwise it will fold in the middle creating the taco effect. The 30" pad is part of the structure of the hammock tent. Better off ordering it with the Haven TruLevel pad. I hang the pad over the ridgeline when folding it up to put it back in the bag.
I bought an xl hammock last year but never got to try it..I had lower spinal surgeries and kind of worried i might get stuck in it 😂. I want to put a mattress of some kind in it.. would a foam one be good or an air mattress. I will be sleeping diagonally to get a flat lay on my side. My under quilt is a woobie. I live in lower Alabama so i probably won't need the under quilt except in February. I know I can no longer sleep on the ground, I wouldn't be able to get up in the morning.. I just want to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible, now that the powers that be forced me to retire. Thank you Dave for this video and all the other ones you produce. Stay safe
Well thats the key if you like doing camping/bushcraft. If you get a tool. Before you go on your trip. At home, use it abuse it before you use it. That way you know how to use in normal use and in an oh shit moment, if you dont like its just a waste of space that would be better off on something you would use
Interesting piece, definitely not for me. We get way too much rain, I keep the ridgeline, bungees and 10 x 13 Aquaquest where I can grab them. It's like a palace underneath, room for hammock, stove etc regardless of the weather. Nice looking kit, good for the car for sure.
Where did you get that hat and can we get a short about it? You’ve recently convinced me to stop wearing ball caps out in the sun but all I have is a boonie hat.
Love the setup. I live in Florida and you often have a wet ground and lots of crawlers. Being up is great and this looks comfortable. Thank you Dave!

Always nice to run into a fellow traveler from the east, have a good one brother!

I'm very impressed with it. Cheers David
Seems like a very nice system. Thanks Dave!

I watched a video that showed to elevate the side of the tent slightly where your head is going to go.
That will
Make you slide downhill in the night

Different topic; I’m a vest nut - what is the vest your sporting in this video Dave? It looks great. Thanks
Great vid Dave been curious about this set up.where did you get your hat Dave ? It's a very nice hat I would like to get one myself thanks for sharing the info
What carbon poles are you using please dave?
Dave, the big question what would be the weight load? Limit ?.. I like it looks comfortable ..
Good Review. Thanks.

Best damn thing since sliced bread!
We have one for all members of our family and extra for guests.
Haven offers additional carabiners I use on the rain fly so i don't have to fight the issue of the tent and rainfly being one together
Thanks Dave
Just bought one and made the mistake of putting weight on the spreader bar. Don't put any pressure or weight on the spreader bars.
That whole setup would probably go into an oversized snake skin like I use on my Sierra Madre Ninox setup. That would speed setup and not need the tarp separate.
Dave, Um grande abraço aqui do Brasil! Ótimo video! 👍👍👍🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I've been using a Hennessey Hammock for the last couple years, but have been looking at one of these Havens for a bit too.
I have been looking at these for some time I think I have read read all the reviews and all their website I think.
I have been hoping you would do a review.
Like it...good idea...
Dave is the king
I love looking at these but they're so darn heavy overall compared to my normal bridge hammock setup.
Fairly light IMO when you consider what it is
Looks like a nice setup! But I’m still waiting for the Pathfinder hammock and tarp to get back in stock! Dave you’re looking good sir! You still doing carnivore?
1 Idea I had Mr. Cantabury is tube's on either side of the hammock tent⛺ 2 make a raised bed🛏️ out of it
I would say it is the best

Thanks for educating us
Nice
This wouldn't be for me. I prefer gathered end hammocks with a separate tarp but interesting concept for others.

What hat are you wearing in the beginning of this video?
