I'm building a diy version using 1-5/8 unistrut, angle brackets and pulleys from Lowes. Already had cable from previous diy set up. Surplus Strength price is nuts for something like this
Awesome video, always had an issue with Surplus Strength and especially their cost for what they sell. Worst is they didn't fix the hitch pin, if they had a FAST way to add/remove weight to their system it might be worth the cost.

That sounds fantastic people who workout and USE these racks are the best to create products for others. I just got my PR4000 and there's no real good and not super costly options not to mention space saving. I might be one of your first customers, would rather NOT buy the Ares but as of now only thing that can really do what I want which is to have combination of 1:1 Pulleys for high weight for lat pulldowns and rows and I will use it for tricep pushdowns and belt squats. I'll likely use cables for side and rear delt as well but that's it not really a functional trainer guy just want good quality, smooth cables and hate the 2:1 systems need 400lbs to feel 200lb is ridiculous! If you don't mind me asking what exactly are you releasing? A pulley system that lets you adjust where you grab it like Rep's Athena/Ares? Will it have a side mounted weight like Bully Glyder? I'm very interested really don't need half the functionality of the Ares but the Athena will require me to get gym pin and add 90-150+ lbs to it to get heavier which is ridiculous!@@CurlsintheRack
I cut part of bracket down to size that fit over 3x3 (it was 1/4in thick steel) and I drilled two holes in each side to match up with the holes on the 3x3 bracket… I had this bracket lying around from purchases I made on offer up but if you go to your local hardware store I’m sure you can piece something together (especially if you are comfortable welding) hope that helps🤙
I usually keep search alerts on offerup or craigslist for crossmembers/brackets/etc (for these prototypes and 1 offs) but in the future we will be sourcing through a distributor. but unless you buy in bulk you offer pay! Also if you buy from rogue or another company you over pay and then over pay again on shipping ;) hope that helps (find local)
