I couldn't agree with you more because I am always praised of my English speaking in America. I said, I was very grateful that English is part of Philippine history
In the Philippines, people are using English language in educational system from primary, intermediate, secondary, to collegiate education. 80% of school books are printed in English, while the rest are printed in Tagalog or Pilipino (Filipino) and several dialects.
Thanks for your comment! 😊 The information in the video is based on data from linguistic research organizations and may include English speakers at varying levels of fluency, not necessarily fluent speakers. In some cases, it’s an estimate that includes people with basic knowledge of the language, like what’s learned in schools. It’s always valuable to hear feedback from someone who lives in the country and knows the local reality!
I am Australian and did grammatical French at school. I have been to France on a number of occasions. I found the French appreciated my attempts, especially in major or lager cities, by the simple "parlez vous Anglais" responded by "un petit peu" and then a conversation in their English being much better rhan my French. "Voila"
I think the figure is not really correct because almost all Filipinos can speak English. In the Visayas region almost all people here can speak fluently in English than our own national language which is Filipino.
Because their english is just like Spanish language proficiency of most Filipinos. Speaking english to the Indonesian people is like you speak Spanish only to the poorer Filipino masses.
Bangladeshis are expert also in English bec there were patients when my daughter worked there in Singapore as a Nurse in Khu Tech Puat Hospital for 11 years. As per narrative of my daughter.
It's notable which countries were excluded from this list. Of course this is because of their small overall populations, not because of any general lack of proficiency in the English language, which per capita exceeds that of many countries on the list. I'm thinking firstly of Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa.
I don't believe this? Philippines is lower than Indonesia? As far as i know Indonesian people only knows to speak English when they study college. I have many Indonesian friends doesn't know how to speak English. So how come? Did you research well?

Just read the title. It is based on facts. If it will be by percentage, most top 10 countries will be less than 10m proficient English speakers such as Singapore, Sweden, Denmark, Finland. Austria, purtugal, Norway.
The Philippines has the best English speaking reporters, TV newscasters, radio announcers in the world, aside from Americans, Britons, Canadians, and New Zealanders.
"Thank you for watching and commenting! The population of France is larger than that of the countries you mentioned, so even if those countries have a higher percentage of English speakers, in absolute numbers, France ends up having more speakers. Additionally, in these countries, English is widely spoken in the main urban centers, but many African languages and dialects still dominate. "According to Ethnologue, there are 68 languages spoken in Kenya", reflecting the ethnic and linguistic diversity of the country. With the rapid expansion of English in these countries and around the world, I believe that in the future, the majority of the population in these countries will speak English."
Great question! 😊 While around 90-93% of people in the Netherlands speak English, this video focused on the total number of English speakers per country rather than the percentage of the population. For example, Bangladesh has about 19.9 million English speakers, whereas the Netherlands, with a population of around 18 million, falls below that in absolute numbers. Thanks so much for watching and for bringing up this interesting point!
Very recently John Brittas, an MP from Kerala wrote a letter in English to a Central Minister. The Sanghi Minister, who is an illiterate in English, replied in Hindi.
