I have always problem with the automatic chock in cold days. This is a good idea. Tnx for sharing. Respect from Iran💚

Yes, the AED on my '71 gave endless trouble. Used to actually spoon feed it with petrol for coldstarts. It was away for the day then. Love that Daimler. Looks like you got a real good one there.

    That was very interesting
Ive never owned one (luv to) but ive heard that aed can be problematic & if anythings going to stop one these cars, it may be down to that being the culprit

i really need help with my 1987 xj6 jaguar. I bought it not too long ago like literally 3 months ago and drove it an hour and 10 min back home. It stalled twice but once it warmed up it kept going. Problem is now i can turn it on but it WONT stay on. Is there any advice you could give me or some how contact me so i can send a video or pictures?
Side note: i dont have a AED on it

Gee that runs as sweet as a sewing machine
Can you run then with no aed or choke

I have a cut out valve fitted in my xj aed but you shouldnt be able to start it from cold with no fuel supply as you will just suck in air from the main air valve.

Could you disengage the aed completely & run a manual choke instead ?

There is a kit available. But to be honest I took mine off, stripped it and cleaned it with carb cleaner. Both diaphrams were all good, gaskets were all good. Just put it all back together and its good as gold. I do have a fuel cut off valve fitted to it tho as it give 3mpg more with fuel to that shut off when its warmed up. Took her from 12 mpg to 15. Lol

What CO do you have when running warm then, I guess pretty rich?

Never had it checked to be honest but she runs fine, dont smoke and plugs keep the right colour. The AED do actually work now but once warm I turn fuel off to it still as every now and then it used to spit fuel out the overflow. This is a great mod to fit I must say.
