Americans are really REALLY ignorant about what's there outside their country or even the state they live in. This is coming from an Argentinian that lived a couple of years in the US, the average American has little to no knowledge about the world.
“This is Brazil, they have their own little planet. They think real highly of themselves.” Sorry mister but i think you are mistaking Brazil with the U.S
If anything I don’t blame Americans for thinking highly of themselves when they’re from a country that sooooo many people go to like the people in this video, if everyone were to just stop moving to USA, maybe Americans won’t feel more special than anyone else.
That guy is like, "put the name of your country on your flag." And I'm like, "It says it right there on the flag: República de El Salvador, República de Nicaragua."
+Javier Reina - Colombia's, Venezuela's and Ecuador once formed Gran Colombia which explains why there flags have the same colors. But Ecuador's has a Condor. Bolivia's also has a Condor.
You're right about Dominican Republic being similar to the Panamanian flag. But both Mexico and Puerto Rico (Costa Rica is not the island) are both part of Latin America since both of their main languages are derived from Spanish from Spain. Greetings from Argentina :D.
There's a reason why Central America Countries' flags are so close to Argentinean flag. In our Independence Wars to Spain somehow we helped each other to spread and lead for our Freedom. As soon as Argentina got free, some of our Navy Ships, leaded by Alférez Bouchard went from South Pacific to North Pacific chasing Spanish Vessels. He arrived in California, win a war agaisnt Spain, claimed California for Argentina, so far from there, and continued chasing the Spanish towards South.. So the Central America's Republic was born. In gratitude to Argentina, the new Republic took colours and stripes from that coutry that helped them way to Freedom. And they conserved those colours when they got split into this 5 beautiful Countries they are today: Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, with thre exception of Costa RIca. ( Plus: We divide America continent into 3 parts: North, Central, and South) I'm Argentinian, I've been in Central America's countries 20 years ago. But I learned this piece of our common story till last year. It' s not widely known. And sorry guys, my English has become a little messy. Hope you can uderstand anyway.
Un Crack!. By the way, there are many explanations related to the colours, some people refers to the used colours by "Borbouns" in france (root of the actual king of spain. After Carlos V there was no heritage -no children, no heir-) In these ships also traveled a man (behind Bonpland) who will reamin you the name of one street in Buenos Aires "Humbolt" Alexander Von Humbolt (Dutchs/German). He was a kind of Charles Darwin for geography, maps, and even plants and animals.
I gotta say we also share the "voceo" to some extent and that's would be mainly the reason we feel more connected in spirit with Argentina than to Mexico in some weird way
I think I've heard of that story before but thanks for the reminder .I also recently found out that el salvador use to have numerous types of flags most of them where white and blue and threw trail and error at some point they had one very similar to the U.S one. And also an olympic type of flag. Got to catch up on some Fun with Flags . Lol big bang reference. I also thought central American flags were similar becuase of the federation they created and established at some point.

because Latin america and south america are different terms, meaning different things , latin america refers the parts of america that speak romance languages(Spanish ,Portuguese and french), the counter part to the term Latin america is Anglo-america(the part of america which uses English).it doesn't have any geographical base, in other words, it doesn't matter if is not in south america. it's still latino.

placida hey Wich flags are "pretty confusing"? Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Perú are the most popular countries and they all have diferents flags. The only flagd that can confuse you, if you don't knew them, are Ecuador, Venezuela and Colombia; and the rest are from the Caribbean and Centre América.
"They're both just vertical versions of the Austrian flag that's centuries older" Then what's that? You're implying they have something to do with the Austrian Flag design, they don't. Just because it have the same colors doen't mean anything.
For the people saying the Mexican flag it’s similar to the Italian flag. The Mexican flag was created way before the Italian flag was and if I’m not wrong they even asked Mexico to use the same colors. I’m okay them being similar to be honest, Italy is a beautiful country full of culture just like Mexico.
Italian flag colors and display appeared first in the Lombard's Legion flag on 11 October 1796. inspired by the french flag arraignment and 1789 Genoa's tricolor cockade colors. Last time I checked Lombardia and genoa are in Italy. so Lombard's Legion flag predates 25 years the Mexican flag. case closed!.

+OSHO totally, we are connected in a global and tecnological way but still culturally many of us just give a damn when it comes to show some interest or even respect for other cultures...its a "cultural thing"
Cristóbal Just to beat you guys, the first Italian flag(the base for the current flag) was created in 1790, by a Napoleon's puppet state. While the Mexican flag is based in a 1810's one. Also, the current Italian flag is from 1948 and the current Mexican one is from 1968. Such a coincidence the 20 years difference in both cases.
Actually, it makes sense to not know each others flags since there is a lot of tribalism that occurs within the Hispanic cultures. Each country thinks that they are the best. So basically we are a bunch of egocentric fucks :)
+Ceisiwr Serith but PRs flag doesnt have anything to do with the USA, the flag was created in 1895 taking the cuban flag as a model. We were a Spanish colony by that. The USA came to Puerto Rico in 1898. So, is not related to USA nor has those colors because of them

Stanley Dougé I consider Haiti part of Latin America (that is the reason i was talking about the flag of Haiti) and i really wish a better situation for your country. Really.
Lol we copied italians😂 jk they're far away but he's right bout u the symbol on the flag being badass there's a story behind why we put it there and it does represent who we areeee

Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Brazil have the more distinct looking flags. They are not easily confused with other Latin Country flags.

( Plus: We divide America continent into 3 parts: North, Central, and South)
I'm Argentinian, I've been in Central America's countries 20 years ago.
After Carlos V there was no heritage -no children, no heir-)
In these ships also traveled a man (behind Bonpland) who will reamin you the name of one street in Buenos Aires "Humbolt" Alexander Von Humbolt (Dutchs/German). He was a kind of Charles Darwin for geography, maps, and even plants and animals.
I gotta say we also share the "voceo" to some extent and that's would be mainly the reason we feel more connected in spirit with Argentina than to Mexico in some weird way
I think I've heard of that story before but thanks for the reminder
.I also recently found out that el salvador use to have numerous types of flags most of them where white and blue and threw trail and error at some point they had one very similar to the U.S one. And also an olympic type of flag. Got to catch up on some Fun with Flags . Lol big bang reference. because Latin america and south america are different terms, meaning different things , latin america refers the parts of america that speak romance languages(Spanish ,Portuguese and french), the counter part to the term Latin america is Anglo-america(the part of america which uses English).it doesn't have any geographical base, in other words, it doesn't matter if is not in south america. it's still latino.

Italian flag colors and display appeared first in the Lombard's Legion flag on 11 October 1796. inspired by the french flag arraignment and 1789 Genoa's tricolor cockade colors. Last time I checked Lombardia and genoa are in Italy. so Lombard's Legion flag predates 25 years the Mexican flag. case closed!.

colombia, ecuador and venezuela have a very similar flag bc they used to be the same country "La Gran Colombia"
