When they were goin back and forth and acting like Pro Tools was the only DAW you can produce, record, and mix in I was like “huh??🤔😂” I never felt like it was unorthodox to work completely in one DAW. I been doin everything in Logic for yearsss. Not saying other DAWS don’t have that capability. Just don’t leave Logic out the convo fr.💯
Logic has the most creative tools and best ui too

I’m a Protools ride or die but I just wanna vouch for my man Court real quick! I was taught by an Ableton user through an online class how to mix and he would always do the trick of using the utility plug-in and turning it to mono when he’d do his bass or anything that needed to be mono-ed out! And just to be clear the man I learned from was a professional within the industry under Mixxin Academy so it wasn’t just some random class!🤪 Anyways, great episode and I literally only know what day of the week it is based on this podcasts release!😂 PROTOOLS FOR LIFE!✌️
imma say this about the shortcut vs backup convo, I kinda agree with LJ cuz at least if u lose a session, and your shortcut game is fire, you can recreate it faster than if you didn't have shortcuts
Workflow is everything to me. If I don't have a smooth way to just record what I have in my mind without alot of technical crazy stuff going on it really bothers me. I have converted my creation process to dawless. I do my finishing, mixing, and mastering with Ableton and bounce out for a master into LUNA. Less distractions, more focus on just making the music, super low latency, and it's super fast to just build out beats.
Wow I didn’t know this was a thing. I produce, record, mix and master my songs in Ableton and it’s been just fine.
Work flow with a client recording vocal or mixing is Studio One( did Pro tools for years. Not unhappy but not satisfied) Making music (beats) is FL. If I'm being creative I make the beat in FL (incomplete), Record vocals in Studio One with a 2 track. Then once I want to make arrangements I open FL in Studio One (FL works like a plugin) and have both open. I have an old pc but I built it. It still runs like a champ.

Yea Logic Pro helps with my overall workflow. The normal thing to have done would be to bounce the trackouts out into Pro Tools. But I've found that I would unintentionally mix in Logic Pro and even master. My next phase is to start bouncing in place lol even that's something I gotta get used to because I love keeping midi information lol

I switched to producing, recording, and mastering in Studio One from my old workflow of using a combo of Mixcraft and Ableton. Studio One v6 won me over.

Utility on every channel for a few reasons. Gain, phase, and mono.

If you have Mono Inputs you can record in Mono, Audio From > Channel 1 (f.e.). You just have to set-up your Audio Inputs accordingly in the Preferences. Ableton can record in Mono, no Doubt! And you can convert to Mono when rendering the Live Set. Only when recording the Output of the Vocal Track to a new Track, or if you freeze, flaten or resample (which actually takes the Stereo Output from that Track or the Master), you get a Stereo File no matter if there is any Stereo Information in it or not. But you can convert to Mono when Rendering using (CTRL+SHIFT+R on Win).
If you record a mono signal in ableton the files will be mono. All tracks are stereo but if the track contains mono clips, it will just duplicate to the L/R channel and lower the volume to compensate. At the end of the day there is no difference than other daws.

If y'all don't grab a kensingtonworks trackball!! 8 year+ recording/mixing engineer. And that mouse has changed my entire workflow from the very beginning. You can program any Pro Tools or any other DAW shortcuts to 6 extra programmable buttons. Editing while tracking is officially second nature. Devvon you bugging! FullSail 4 Life g! FL Studio nowadays is tuff when you know how to make templates.
I have a r&b, a trap, hip hop. One for just adding drums to Loops.
Not to mention I keep a minimum of 5 to 10 different ways for each task,
Oh and don't forget to save preset chs.

I work in multiple DAWs....and I've made music/beats in Pro Tools with absolutely no issues. Of course it's not as streamlined as most of the others but it's actually descent after really learning how to do inside of Pro Tools. How about each of you make a complete beat in the other's preferred DAW as a challenge and let us see what you guys come up with? (That's if you haven't already done it)

I don't understand how the name of the program can have the word PRO if I constantly encounter glitches and freezes. It's just horrible. I tried to become a user of this DAW (before that I worked with cubase, studio one, now with reaper) being influenced by the marketing vibe (industry standard, used by top engineers) but it's just ridiculous. I feel very sorry for these poor people who have been tied to this garbage for years and cannot leave it.

The analogy doesn’t work because he would still have to make the beat elsewhere or at the other store and have somebody else give him the beat vs making it from scratch on another DAW.

Mono tracks show as mono tracks in ableton. Depending on how it is exported prior then it will be dual mono.
