Love your play through. Nice job!
Thanks!!
I still need to open my copy! So many games showed up in December!
At least you know what to expect… gives you time to build an insert… 😅
@@pedrowayne4675 got that tracking # for me? 😆
Never heard of this before. Now I'm intrigued... curious how much it will cost....
Thanks for your video!
i suggest you join the dungeon dive group then :)
It will be a complete box set including the base game (8 characters, 20 monsters, 48 dungeon rooms, 18 single scenarios and 4 campaigns with 8 scenarios each.
Cost point for the whole box will be probably around 80 USD for the Kickstarter, though I will try to make it a bit cheaper - but that fully depends on demand. ;)
Hmmm, I get that there's ton of interesting loot but the game itself seems to be just reveal room, fight, reveal room, fight, reveal room, fight... doesn't look very interesting...
Fair enough! I find the different situations created by scenarios to make the game more interesting than that personally, but I understand that feeling! Thanks for the comment.
Orthogonal movement should cost 2 AP and diagonal 3. It looks like a flat derivative of massive darkness. I sold md because it had zero lore and world building. I would need more information on the scenarios and campaigns for this one.
Didn't remind me of MD at all. This has significantly more world building, but not a ton.
To make things easier to remember and calculate, every square costs 1 AP. As you can walk larger distances too, a different diagonal cost would make it more complex for a minimal deal of changes.
It could still be implemented as a house/optional rule. Why would you like to see that change, why do you propose that change? What should be the result of it?
For the comparison to Massive Darkness:
As both are scenario based dungeon crawlers, they have for sure some similarities.
However, I think the large amount of loot and the action point/initiative system in Dungeons of Doria make it very different in terms of play.
For the lack of world building in Massive Darkness I cannot say a lot as I do not own it myself. The world of Dungeons of Doria is based on the fantasy world Doria of the german tabletop RPG ERPS, and some of the campaigns/scenarios explain parts of the world and cities the characters are going through. But do not expect a Middara level of stories ;)
@@vahrens I don't expect anything, other than (1) a motivation for the heroes to actually risk their lives and (2) avoidance of stupid mechanics that never work like the shadow thing in MD. (3) a locale where they could have actually met to band together would be a bonus; (4) a way to keep loot in a stash after a succesful haul would make it addictive. I really don't care for one-off skirmishes.
The tile laying plus the generate enemies after a door is the similarity. Look at one Card dungeon for a good distance metric.
And please don't fall in the trap of so many first time designers that put everything into a single tiered deck. Bounded randomness is what separates the corn from the chaff.
It's really impressive to actually build a game, so my hat off to you.
