@@Lumpia_In_TexasWe the workers don’t have anything to do with fords pricing and the reason the cars are low quality is because these companies keep cutting costs and bringing in lower and lower quality parts. Not to mention ford has replaced a huge portion of full time workers with temp workers just so they don’t have to pay them as much. Temp workers are usually thrown on a job they’ve never done and expected to learn it within minutes and do it correctly all day, for 8-10 hours. So of course quality control is poor. All these companies are worried about is profits.
Most car companies are building vehicles most people cannot afford and even if they can the vehicles require multiple trips back to the dealer for warranty repairs and when they get a few miles on them require repairs costing thousands of dollars. The car industry is ripe for another event like the gas shortage which caught American car companies with gas guzzling cars no one wanted. That helped Honda and Datsun (now Nissan) gain market share and cost American car companies jobs and billions of dollars. This time it won't be a gas shortage. Some company will build a decent vehicle that will get decent mileage and will last 100k miles without needing a $4,000 rebuilt transmission or a $2,000 AC evaporator replacement. What a concept-build a quality vehicle the masses can actually afford.
It started in about 1965 when American manufactures had to increase labor cost instead of investing in updating equipment. The nail in the coffin was the gas shortage. If labor cost increase too much it will force companies to automate and move factories overseas. It’s the wrong mind set that you are owed something for working for a company.
Tesla is already building a plant that will open in 2 to 3 years that will produce cars that everyday working people can afford. But the UAW thinks they have a strong hold on the truck market and that's about to fade quickly.
Y’all in the comments really don’t understand how physically hard it is to build cars. I’m sure it’s more intense work than 99% of you have ever done. The workers are not greedy!!! They are tired and overworked!! Like most of you cannot possibly understand. 12 hour shifts under brutal conditions. Most of you couldn’t last a day. While the supervisors who walk around and laugh all day all make $100-$140k easy. And the bigger bosses are pushing $200k. In the plant. Even the HR workers are close to 6 figures starting pay. So why do you not think the actual people who put their bodies on the line everyday, not to mention the mental toll, should not be justly compensated!!!! If the car manufacturers care so much about their futures, they should stop jacking up prices to increase their profit. They make billions and billions of dollars in profit!! It takes maximum 3 months out of the year of their profits to pay off their entire union workforce. They are sending out propaganda to the public, putting working man against working man, to create a crabs in the barrel situation so that we will drag eachother down instead of collectively rising up against corporate greed!!
If it's so hard, the companies would have to pay a lot more for the workers. The fact is, they don't have to because the supply of workers outstrips demand.
I will be laid off without strike pay if the Uaw strikes, without strike pay ( I worker at a feeder plant), but I support what they are fighting for 100%. These companies make billions of dollars and pay their workers a barely livable wage. If the automakers try and take production elsewhere charge them heavy tarifs for the importation of their vehicles. America bailed them out once and to leave north America would be a spit in our faces when we buy 90% of their products. Make them sell their vehicles in only Mexico and Europe see how long they last.
Good luck friend..it might shape up to be a long, hard fight. But it’s a fight for ALL of us. We have a standard to set to uplift all the working class
@seahorsemafia Agreed. Not looking forward to collecting E.I., but if it's for better wages, etc. for workers like myself I'm for it. I work in a union shop Unfortunately it isn't the Uaw so we will not receive strike pay, but usually it will cause our union to fight for better contracts as well. It bugs me that our governments let them set up shop in Mexico considering we bailed them out during hard times. They already caused the beautiful city of Detroit to damn near crumble. Enough is enough
Working at Gm has been stressful you only get a 25 minute break and 15 minute break and back to the line… we deserve more pay for them little ass breaks and hard work we put in…
@littlebigzelda No they don't, people do not have an easy time "finding another job" when your healthcare is attached to employers in this country, they rely on to survive, and requires them to work longer at those work locations to get it, workers deserve better than to be taken advantage of regardless of employer desires for more profits anyways, because the elites at the top 1% Make more than they deserve taking it from the workers they exploit. We need government intervention and reforms to our society to regulate these corrupt corporations. Worker co-ops and unions are a must in society. Otherwise, the corporations become the ruling class and the government. It's slavery under new terms.
@@jubilation77c28 You should learn not to twist people’s word. What I said is, they can always find another job if they do passionately think they are under paid. It’s free market, company pay competitive salary. If you think you deserve more but company isn’t willing to pay, leave.
I dont hear nothing about product investment from stellantis here at the idled plants and the plants with aging products....This should be first on the list
The union better not get too greedy. Remember what happened in the past. The world noon got greedy and the jobs were shipped to Mexico. What makes u think it cannot happen again. The Co. Will always find a way to move.
This is a false statement, if that was the unions fault, why not ship the jobs to non union states like Arkansas or Alabama? Because believe it or not, even non union want fair wages, they went to mexico because NO one in America, non union or otherwise can compete.
For anyone thinks that auto workers should be happy about what we’re already getting, I’d like to see if y’all would say that to the CEOs and the board members who constantly get bonuses off our backs. The CEO of Stellantis got a twenty million dollar bonus amongst other perks. The problem isn’t the workers the problem is greed.
@@BadBackOz Engineer’s and upper management also don’t put the car together, therefore if it wasn’t for the production workers wouldn’t be any need for them either. So what’s your point?
The ones that take the risk get the reward. Without the billions in factories, machinery, Retirement benefits, training, salary dollars, workers compensation, etc…the employee labor would be worth zero. If the company goes bankrupt, the employees may lose their job but they do not incur billions in debt. The investors do. That’s why investors get the big money, they took the massive financial risk. What skills do the factory workers have that would allow them to get another job at the same pay? For many, if they lose their factory job it will be difficult to find a new career because they do not have the skills needed to qualify for a different job. If you do not have additional skills, how can you make demands? It’s not like you can leave and make more money elsewhere. And that is the issue. Supply and demand. If the Big 3 struggled to hire workers, salaries would increase. But when you have low-skilled labor there is plenty of supply in almost any country.
@@jayb7675 I think you got reward confused with greed. If the employee labor would be worth zero, so would the company. Skilled or unskilled how would that make a difference if it’s replaced by A.I.? That same kind of slavery mindset is the reason why things are the way they are, just let allow the everyday people be happy about what they got and let the greedy stay greedy. And like I said earlier they wouldn’t need to move to another country because A.I. could easily take over. But even if they did move who are they relying to by their cars??? The consumer/worker.
If they are willing not to negotiate with us then all three companies strike at the same time. They will come to the table and talk when their stock pile runs low.Stay strong and see you when you come and help us at Volkswagen.
It is not 1970 when the Big three had majority of the market share. No one cares who makes a vehicle nowadays they just want something that goes from point “A” to point “B” at a reasonable cost. Made in Asia, Europe, or North America makes no difference at this point.
If they are going to move overseas......its already, has been in the forecast. What happens in this contract has no bearings on decisions that are already in the plan. So the UAW has the upper hand ; t balls in your court.....Don't let go !!!
Big three vehicles are so expensive because of greed and dealers taking advantage of people not because of workers pay, the pay of big 3 workers has went down since 2007 and they want uaw to take less starting wage is 15.78 top out 31.77 it’s less than what they made 20 years ago, you tell me what’s the real problem doesn’t take a rocket scientist
UAW wins contract and the hourly wage increases in non union plants to keep the UAW out. Thats how it works. Even non-union workers will benefit from the UAW
@@redkap5816 .. Years ago maybe nowadays not so much. The non union suppliers will get more wage push from the fast food restaurants as they are very similar in wages to the suppliers and it is unskilled labor as well.

Why don’t the Big 3 move all factories to Mexico? Toyota doesn’t have Unions. It’s a global market. Robots have already cut job numbers. The workers have no other skill set. When you have no other skill, how can you demand anything?
With the demands ¹they should just move manufacturing out of country! And anyone that voted for this deserves what they get. Theres a difference in union bargaining and outrageous demands
The Big 3 Automakers will ultimately respond with a longterm plan to offshore production to Mexico and Southern States, in addition to more automation. I'm not anti-union, and they have a right to a grievance, but the marketplace ultimately determines employee wages.
They will do that regardless of wages, thats why the workers should get a great wage now, that way when the axe does drop, they have a lot more saved up in their 401k and assets for the next gig. Id rather be out of a job with 100k in the bank rather than 10k in the bank.

All ceo's making millions still get a pension ! Not that insane whole your workers don't have a pension if I made $29 millions why would I need a pension you can give it to a liberal worker
All UAW workers say our CEO made this so we want more money. Well McDonald's CEO made $ 18,000,000 last year. McDonald's employees are paid $12.50 an hour. So what's your beef??
Ya want $60 an hr that's great I expect all of you to buy your next $125, 000 dollar truck every year and trade up so I can get a deal I can't justify $80 grand now so who the hell you thinks gonna be able to afford your product . Fairs fair but we're all gonna starve before this is over.
Let me ask. If your person in a high-low makes 2-3x what the guy on a high-low makes working in construction heat, how do you justify this? Also, why are your people getting strike pay and unemployment while tier 2,3,&4 companies who make significantly less and have less vacation time end up taking hour reductions while you cut back, retool lines in August or strike and usually are not eligible for unemployment? The majority of those who support your industry cannot afford housing, and many receive welfare. South Detroit was left a cesspool of poverty. Who is cleaning up the mess you left behind? How much did manhattan pay? Who is caring for the older workers forced from their jobs and away from family and communities? Ford and the big 3 may help drive the economy but they leave chaos and destruction behind and within the communities they purport to serve. This is the same mess the UAW brought to the entire region in the 70s.
Biden you know is going to have us extend due to how bad this would be for the country with all 3 companies going down.. Plus the domino effect with suppliers etc.
No no no. These are private corporations, a simple deduction from their gross profit is basic math and they could afford to pay each worker 5x their wage. this is all about optics in front of shareholders. Not our job to bail out those pathetic losers
Now you know why you can't find anything made in USA. ITS just to hard to manufacture in this country, to much union greed. Ford stock $15. Apple stock $185.
All these people on here talking about how hard the work is and how many hours they're "forced" to work. The last time I checked working for the auto industry isn't forced labor, if the job is too hard or the hours are too long then you should quit and choose another career that suits you better. It's not the company's responsibility to provide you with the life you dreamed of, it's yours.
@ariss3304 if they got everything they are demanding, the company's would either have to raise the prices even further out of reach of the average consumer or go bankrupt. Either way, it's a lose-lose situation.
Unskilled workers are not worth 120-150 thousand a year. It doesn’t matter what the CEO makes they aren’t bolting bumpers on explorers. I hope the big 3 decide to lock the unions out. This is extortion and should not be entertained. I’m fine with union employees going to bed hungry.
Unskilled labor is still labor. What makes people who work hardest in this country and contribute the most to the economy somehow second class citizens? We sacrifice our health, bodies, time with family, everything. Ford even gets to use my vacation time on their own terms. All while we work in 100+ degree heat on our feet all day in the summer with no AC. We don’t get sick days. We call in once, it goes on our record for 12 months. Ford employees at top pay haven’t had a decent raise in 30 years. 1995, top pay was $28 and today it’s $31. Ford profits in 1995 were $5 Billion, and last year Ford’s profits were $23 Billion. Just saying, but the workers who literally build their entire company deserve to reap the rewards of Ford’s success.
Does Shawn Fein's negotiation tactics really speak for the majority of the 400,000 UAW members since only 28,056 voted for him? It seems like he isn’t taking into account the realities of today's auto markets - The Big Three's (now like "The Medium Three") market share has been steadily declining since the massive 1971 strike. And adjusting for inflation, the Big Three's profits are nowhere near what they were in the mid-late 1960s. And a lot of the public demands just seems to be out of touch with today's auto landscape.

The workers wages have been cut in half since 2006, over 17 years, has the cost of your vehicle ever gone down? Trust me, its not the workers pay thats causing it, and even if it was, should they break their backs at work for slave wages all so you can save a couple hundred bucks on a vehicle?
The labor costs for Stellantis line workers in Mexico is 1/4 the cost of Detroit line workers. So is that shiny new Mexican Ram truck selling in America for $17K??? Nope! Same price as the Detroit Ram. I call that greed!

Great enough for unemployment anyway
I will be laid off without strike pay if the Uaw strikes, without strike pay ( I worker at a feeder plant), but I support what they are fighting for 100%. These companies make billions of dollars and pay their workers a barely livable wage. If the automakers try and take production elsewhere charge them heavy tarifs for the importation of their vehicles. America bailed them out once and to leave north America would be a spit in our faces when we buy 90% of their products.
Make them sell their vehicles in only Mexico and Europe see how long they last.
I always donate plasma when I need $, it pays pretty good, between $700 and $900 a month for 8 donations
@StevenRumfelt-qg3es I take medications and have tattoos, so cannot donate blood/plasma as far as I know.
@MikeDeOliveira360 don't tell em about medication and u can have tattoos as long as u haven't had a new one in a month. don't tell em nothing
I like this new UAW president. It's time for labor to be respected and paid fairly we create the profit and buy the products that all labor creates
UAW should start their own car company and see how it goes.😂😂
What a dumb comment.

If they want to stall or offer garbage contracts like the last two then we should ask for more every time we don’t get an answer. 75% raise!
I HOPE they strike, these people are exploited and deserve ALL of their demands met, PERIOD. It's time workers take more and not settle for less.
They have the liberty to get another job if they want, but they didn't.

The Co. Will always find a way to move.

The CEO of Stellantis got a twenty million dollar bonus amongst other perks. The problem isn’t the workers the problem is greed.
You have a job because of the choices that upper management made along with the engineers who designed the vehicles. It's not so black and white.

@@BadBackOzthey have lives because we don't come for their heads. Just saying. 🤷

I agree 100%
They will do that regardless of wages, thats why the workers should get a great wage now, that way when the axe does drop, they have a lot more saved up in their 401k and assets for the next gig. Id rather be out of a job with 100k in the bank rather than 10k in the bank.

Union greed??? LOL. The company that pushes jobs to Mexico so their CEO can get paid a few million more each quarter is where the greed is at.
Not that easy..
Why quit when they can exercise their right to make their jobs worth it. Especially when their father and grandfather was a UAW worker as well.
@ariss3304 if they got everything they are demanding, the company's would either have to raise the prices even further out of reach of the average consumer or go bankrupt. Either way, it's a lose-lose situation.
Or… we could make ford a worthwhile job again.
Unskilled workers are not worth 120-150 thousand a year. It doesn’t matter what the CEO makes they aren’t bolting bumpers on explorers. I hope the big 3 decide to lock the unions out. This is extortion and should not be entertained. I’m fine with union employees going to bed hungry.
are u on drugs the unions WILL NEVER BE LOCKED OUT WTF

Your demands are unrealistic
Does Shawn Fein's negotiation tactics really speak for the majority of the 400,000 UAW members since only 28,056 voted for him? It seems like he isn’t taking into account the realities of today's auto markets - The Big Three's (now like "The Medium Three") market share has been steadily declining since the massive 1971 strike. And adjusting for inflation, the Big Three's profits are nowhere near what they were in the mid-late 1960s. And a lot of the public demands just seems to be out of touch with today's auto landscape.
Correct they are not the big three they are the old three.
