  • For this episode I spoke with filmmaker Des Henderson, about his recent, extremely powerful documentary "Lost Boys: Belfast's Missing Children" which focus on the disappearances of a number of boys in Northern Ireland during the troubles and explores the dark story of Kincora Boys Home.
Des tells us about the links that these disappearances may have had with a network of p*adphiles who were active in the area at the time and the known child-ab*sers who Mi5 were employing as agents.

I grew up not too far from Kincora. As a teenager in the late 70s I can recall walking past the place and feeling that there was something sinister about.
The fact that it backed onto Strandtown Primary School should have raised eyebrows.
Ian Paisley lived about 2 minutes drive away.
God bless the victims and their families.
The truth needs to come out

In fairness Paisley was very vocal in condemning the carry on at Kincora

Lyra McKee was researching a for a book she wanted to write called The lost boys. Just a coincidence she got hit on the head with a stray bullet during a riot while standing next to a state armoured vehicle.

The circumstances behind his murder could come into question, aswell as who the real perpetrators were.

These British covert acts need more context. The 1970s was a time of carte blanche secret operations to counter a perceived Soviet threat of nuclear annihilation. The IRA was falsely depicted by UK secret services, especially in USA, as a communist threat in order to demean the Provos among Irish Catholics and cut off the money raised in the States. The Vietnam war (another so-called anti-communist necessity) was tearing apart the USA. In this context, the British went to any end they saw fit to appear strong, including sowing chaos in the North (like allowing informants to abduct and kill boys) to justify their acts. These missing boys could likely be part of that cruel, realpolitik of the Brits.

The thing is that most irish people migrated to USA were protestant from the northern countries but became us citizens and not irish Americans whatever that is ,if you move to a new country you integrate you become a us citizen so millions of ulster Scott's have been marginalised by irish republican propaganda.
