I have all of the same issues brother! Glad to see i am not alone in this madness. I use a g2 as well, I run an i9, 3070 and 32g. I run a motion platform with my vr simulations also. After work today I will be trying your style, I have tweaked so many settings as I did with 2020 that I was kinda wanting to revert all my settings to default anyhow. I was a console gamer since the 70s until msfs2020 came out. Had to have it so I spent an ass ton for my current setup and sold my consoles. Microsoft is sooooo frustrating!
This from Kilumbus on the MSFS forum:" Computer Management → System Tools → Performance → Data Collector Sets → Event Trace Sessions. In this list, find HolographicShell, right click, and choose ‘Stop’". I remember having to do this whenever I used my reverb. It made a HUGE difference. I have a Quest3 now so don't need to do this any more but this was the fix that gave smooth framerates in FS2020, likely 2024 too. Try it.
Hi great video thank you. For me even with an Intel 14900k and a 4080 I'm experiencing a lot of issues with my G2 and the mix reality portal in msfs 2024. When I'm flying the Fenix in a big airport the fps are massively dropping to about 20 fps and it's getting better when I'm flying away. I'm testing your configuration and I will let you know if it's going any better. Cheers.
I don't have the stutter issue you described. I think it might be something to do with the automatic audio switching when you start WMR, like you said. I'm using a program called Voicemeeter to handle all my audio in Windows. It creates virtual audio devices, which i have set up in MSFS as the selected audio device. I have configured Voicemeeter to output all sounds from the virtual device to both my physical sound card and the Reverb G2 audio device. I've also created a script that changes the default Windows audio device from the G2 to Voicemeeter every time i start windows mixed reality app to fire up the headset. I think the fact that MSFS always stays on the same audio device (Voicemeeter, instead of windows primary audio device), i never experience the stutters you mentioned. So maybe you should either try using Voicemeeter the way i'm using it, or just set Reverb G2's audio device as your only output device in MSFS.
Thanks, I also have tried VoiceMeeter and honestly can't remember if it worked or not. However, from the way you describe it, I think any way to limit the toing and froing with audio drivers is good so I'll definitely try this again and report back! I too think it is audio related!
So strange. I can increase the sim settings to mostly ultra and even though that will drop my fps to about 19 it’s still smooth enough to be useable (no fast jerky head movements and not in photogrammetry areas obviously!) Varjo Aero and RTX3090. One thing I have noticed is texture supersampling in sim noticeably worsens my performance, I set it OFF.
@peterregan8691 I agree it's weird that the sim seems to be running a lot smoother than what the FPS actually is. 45fps feels much better on FS24 than on FS20. Maybe it's the lack of micro stutters or maybe it's something else. Tough to say.
I'm running an i9 12900k with 64gb ddr4 and an rtx 4090 with the reverb g2 and I'm having similar issues, in particular during playing career mode I've seen my fps drop from 40s to 8!!!!!
@LunasWorld I was looking at getting the pimax crystal light as an upgrade to the g2 but from what I've heard and read it's a 50/50 on if you actually get a good one and if you don't apparently the customer service is abysmal so for those reasons alone I'm holding back
That was a fair bit of work involved for yourself just to get resonable performance! ...😢 not to mention patience! 😮 I'll try a few of your hints n tips here ..thanks 👍
I enjoyed the video but the only thing I saw that I would disagree with is glass cockpit refresh rate. I always set this to medium or high I like to read what I am seeing.
Have the same issues a you when switching back and forth into vr. I always neede to shut down wmr. This was already the case in fs2020. I also have the impression graphic settings are mixed up in the sim when switching between 2d and vr.
Worked amazing yay. I have a quest 3, 3060ti 16gb ram and 11th gen i7 11700 8 cores. I didn't use windows mixed reality app or any open xr tool stuff (I'm not sure if it is for the quest 3 I'm a noob) I was dying before this...... look out XMAS break . Thank you :) ps. was thinking about going in the hole for a 4070 card but I'm good for the break now
since you're in Europe, pick up a used Pico 4 and decent Wifi 6 router and you'll get a great experience on a 3080. As amazing as the G2 was, it's totally unsupported for new games etc...
WMR and G2 , I have one, but is hardly mainstream these days especially with current Win11 24H2 being the newest update. WMR has really exceptionally good Motion Reprojection 1/2 or 1/3. Virtual Desktop and Quest HMD has wobbly SSW and it's not good. The Reprojection mode in 2024 only sends depth of field vector info and actually does nothing if your HMD doesn't use it. since you don't use reprojection why turn it on in sim? GPU maximum performance simple raise the level of power by not letting the gpu ramp down when it could. MBucchia has said toolkit isn't developed to work with DX12. You're probably better off oversampling in WMR than in Toolkit. remove toolkit because it can cause conflicts according to Matt. With my G2, riva tuner locking DP to 30 or 45fps, reprojection on 1/2 or 1/3 in WMR and play with world scale in WMR to scale to the FPS target. When I used my G2 the HP folks had me do an Audio FW update for G2, which was a problem that said might fix my G2, but it turned out to be a broken cable... twice... and now G2 is gathering dust.
You guys are gonna spend 4 years tweaking this sim...asobo fixing things only to break them again on the next updates. So you wont know if the tweaks even work due to buggy code. Your wasting your time. For myself (no one cares 😜) i starting to need 32 gigs and i need a new kit for Indiana Jones and like 2 other games...i doubt ill even get Microsoft fs24 because im not getting a 64gig kit for a busted azz game. I spent 5 years tweaking msfs20. And with 2020 im over lax on high 45fps taa on 105...and it runs flawlessly. If you guys insist on turning on rolling cache..make sure to create a folder on your ddr4 or ddr5 ram kits and have Microsoft fs rolling cache pointed at that folder. Merry Christmas ya'll
@LunasWorld if it's a chic...ya....if it's some rig you paid thousands of dollars for...Microsoft can go fk themselves. Lol. This isn't some fancy ram kit where you change a number and check for stability for a day of two and know exactly where I went wrong...this is a shot in a vast dark Forrest. You'll hit nothing
So glad you are back with us, we need all the help we can get 😅 Great video
Thanks a lot Steve, means a lot coming from the VR Maestro! Damn, that's a good name for a new channel haha

Have u tried the 60hz mode in wmr??
Yes, i dont like it...

Hang in there, 2025 is going to be a great year for VR! I can feel it in me bones...

Hi Great vid at the start of vid you said you reset all graphics settings to default could you explain how you did that please
That was a fair bit of work involved for yourself just to get resonable performance! ...😢 not to mention patience! 😮

A glass of wine while testing helped things along ;)
I enjoyed the video but the only thing I saw that I would disagree with is glass cockpit refresh rate. I always set this to medium or high I like to read what I am seeing.
??
I wasn't aware this affected the 'legibility' of the glass cockpit. I thought it was just how often the values on the display were updated.
Have the same issues a you when switching back and forth into vr. I always neede to shut down wmr. This was already the case in fs2020. I also have the impression graphic settings are mixed up in the sim when switching between 2d and vr.
I think you might benefit from my method of dealing with the stutter issue i described in my previous reply here.
I've always wondered what the # of pre rendered frames setting does to/for vr. Settings in Control Panel and in some games... Anyone?
I have the "settings disappearing and coming back" sometimes too. A bug that needs to be reported
Hmm Ive been running at all low, with TAA, thinking its less demanding than DLSS, I should give that a try.
Worked amazing yay. I have a quest 3, 3060ti 16gb ram and 11th gen i7 11700 8 cores. New to the channel. I almost lost faith immediately when u said you removed your cpu overclock with the nvidia app!
Gna stick with it though!
Haha, oops, removed in bios, not Nvidia App.

Yes, theres a bug in the drop down menu. Must click it a couple times to see all.
Great Video Luna, like you im pretty much the same Spec....are you on discord?
