    You're right; it DID turn out incredible! I love octopi in general and especially since I read, thirty years ago, a lone article mentioning octopi as symbols of emotional anguish. Finding beauty in anguish can give me hope for a brighter day; and I have an octopus tattooed on my right (dominant) hand. I wish I'd asked the article's owner (it was in a waiting room) for a copy.
    If the CT Maritime research mini-cruises on Long Island Sound reopen before end of season, I'm hoping to go with my husband. I went once before, twenty years ago, and it was amazing. I really want to visit their new sturgeon touch tank exhibit. This is a museum I really want to support because of how hard they worked on kids' virtual exhibits during the pandemic, as well as how dedicated they are to preserving the Sound. You know I'll wind up thinking about this and your seahorse microswipes when we're there!

    I too love ocean creatures, of all kinds ~ octopuses are SO smart, 1 of my favorites! Mantis Shrimp is another, much tinier fave - feisty little guy! This really looks great!! The glow in dark paint might be almost ethereal looking. Curious to know how that worked out, or if it got 'lost' in the other colors?

    Question: My experience with stencils is that you never let the paint dry before lifting it. What compelled you to do so? Was it because you were going to just throw it away?

    • @AnnaBlountArt
      @AnnaBlountArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good question! This was a vinyl stencil which was only going to be single-use. If I had purchased a plastic stencil, I would have used thicker-bodied paint and removed the stencil while the paint was wet.

    Hi Anna
    I love this octopus, it is stunning. How do you get the cells to form in the octopus when swiping over a dry background though? Is it the floetrol or silicone that causes the reaction? I practiced your seahorse swipe and got cells. That seemed to work because it was wet blue silicone mix swiped over wet white acrylic background.

    • @AnnaBlountArt
      @AnnaBlountArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Because all the octopus paint has silicone in it, cells will form as the paint rubs against each other (such as by tilting or swiping). Swiping across a plain background color causes the lacy fade-out bubbles.
