My Mom and Dad knew Alison and the Cox family for many, many years. Dad used to set the mics for Bluegrass festivals in Eastern Iowa. Both of my parents have passed on and hearing these talented performers brings them back.
This has brought me back to when I used to listen to my Grandpa used to play the git fiddle and sing in his beautiful bass voice. Thank you for the precious memories. God is Great. and then some.
I like her sense of humor too -- like when she's performing with Union Station; she does a pretty good job of roasting the band members. She's never mean about it and the band is good natured. As always, she comes from a place of impeccable integrity and she's so gracious, that it's clear that ribbing them is all part of the show. It further illuminates the rapport that these world class musicians have for each other. Interestingly I never hear them ribbing her.
I had the honor and pleasure of playing at several bluegrass festivals with the Cox Family, Buck White and the Down Home Folks and others when I was co-owner of The Guitar Store in Natchitoches, LA in the 70s. I loaned them my Fender Precision Bass to use on one of their first records. I am retiring soon and moving back to Louisiana and hope to pick with them again. They are the best!
@@Light_Within I'm still Facebook friends with all of them. When I played upright bass with Buck White, Ricky Scaggs was playing mandolin and Jerry Douglas was playing Dobro but neither of them was real famous at the time. Sharon White is now married to Ricky Skaggs!
I was hooked from the first song. These family and Alison, of-course, are so mesmerizing! Beautiful music with soul and spirit. The beautiful songs, the harmony, and the warmth of everybody on that stage is amazing. I loved every minute of this experience. I'm glad I came upon this video by sheer happenstance.
Have you ever listened to a song and thought, "They just described my life!"? I just finished hearing them sing, "Waitin' For The Sun To Shine", and ohhh, how it resonated with me. It describes where I'm at....in some sort of 'waiting-room'....just "waitin' for the sun to shine", after having spent what seems a lifetime "throwin' a lot of good love away". Thank you for this little bit of an epiphany. It helped define my own story...although I'd MUCH rather my story be all about "praising my Savior (all the day long")! :)
Thank you for the song Far side of the Jordan. Touched me deeply as my mom is 94 yrs old. She has lived with me since 2015. Recently she fell and broke her hip so I take care of her here at home. I am disabled so it is a struggle, but I wouldn't trade this time with her for anything. Her mind is still pretty sharp and we watch church online together at Shadow Mountain Community Church with Pastor David Jeremiah. I have been watching online there since 2003. We pray together daily for the whole world to get through these troubling times. May God bless you all ♥♥
@Alison Krauss That's too funny. I would sooner believe the Dali Lama had reached out than Alison :-) The closest I've come to a personal meet with Alison was when she autographed my daughter's 1/2 size violin at Library of Congress concert around 1992!
God bless you Alison........True lady that shows reproof into all of god's word. You are the graciousness the world needs.......I play songs and sing with you for the cause. It takes much practice to get to this place within ourselves......;-). Thank you!
I'm on a Cox Family kick. I can't stop listening to their beautiful harmonies and just seeing them perform together as a group is just wow. I'm from Los Angeles, been here all my life just about but I've fallen in love with this kind of music and all of these folks. Wish I could surround myself with their talent and culture 💛
Anyone that hears the Cox family sing usually ends up hooked for life. I’m lucky. I actually lived in Cotton Valley from ages 10 to 18..the town was so small there was only one school..all kids from kindergarten to 12th grade went there together. I grew up and went to school with Sidney and Suzanne Cox. Suzanne, vocals and mandolin is a year older than me (graduated a year ahead of me) but we all ran together and hung out around town. All of us still see each other and keep up on Facebook. This family has always been super talented and have been singing and playing since they could walk. And there’s not a mean, snobbish or stuck up bone in their bodies. They are some of the sweetest, most laid back and friendly people you could ever meet. It’s amazing to hear people as far away as Cali are enjoying their music!
I don't know anything about kicking Cox or the family, but I can tell ya that "Little Robots" have some sweet harmony for your ears..... I'm just browsing the web and dropping gold here and there. Cheers 🍻
I am weary let me rest, I heart the first time when the young one and her father sang it before he passed beautiful song that I couldn't get out of my head for a week and I could just see the love between them.
Alison gets lovelier every time I see her! My bucket wish is to see her in person before my time on earth is over. This performance was great but wish they could have had at least one more microphone.
I had the chance to see Allison and she had the Cox family with her in Milwaukee they were outstanding!! This was a great treat seeing how I had no idea who the Cox family was very impressed.Love Allison and Dan come back to Milwaukee.
I met her in the 80s. When I volunteered at the folk festival. She really is a doll. She was 17. She was there each year. Awesome singer and great dongs. Lyrics touch the heart.
The Cox family are completely mesmerizing. They stay true to the truths they know. Maybe we all understand them too. With Alison, this a "star moment". Regardless, we need some more of their deep soul in these times. Much love. Total love to the Cox family. G~
Wow!!!!!!! Very GREAT MUSIC !!!!!!!!!! and GREAT MUSICIANS. I will start my. Day tommorow with this music on the way to work.i listen to politics and news. It is stressful and depressing. I will start tommorow with THIS MUSIC!!!!!!!
Love it. Looking for more of this in my life and just maybe God will bless my with a well rooted woman in the Gospel. I know this is technically Bluegrass/Folk music but when they sing about the wonders of God it becomes some of the best Gospel music in the world.
The Cox Family always makes my spirit sing along with them. Our family farm was in the middle of the Ozarks, so we were blessed to hear this wonderful music regularly. When I hear it, I'm a little boy again.
"Beyond the City" is one of my favorite album, what a incredible talented family! I'm so lucky to have attended the "O Brother.." Concert at the Carnegie Hall in 2001, EPIC!! Alison Kraus, voice on a angel, Dan T., the cherry on the cake!
Saw Allison Krauss along with the Cox Family at the Sony Centre in Toronto and they put on a great show for a Monday Night & this is ne artist I like to see more of especially for a Monday night. Thanks Allison for starting off my week.

Any audience watching this collection of musicians should be screaming for more, yet what we see is a bunch of zombies barely able to put their hands together to show appreciation for the amazing live music that they're hearing. It just shows the quality of these musicians to be able to deliver authenticity in the midst of such mediocrity. Love you guys!🤠👍🏴🎶
Lots of those candid moments here I don’t they really planned this out. Not used to seeing them in a casual atmosphere so that was fun. They were figuring out parts and arrangements as they went
these wonderful people ,seem real like what they are singing they really experienced and are singing from the heart I fell in love with the group would love to meet them someday. Blessings Julia Zook
Ike Zook The are the most real family you would ever meet. I lived in Cotton Valley during middle and high school. Suzanne was one year ahead of me in school. They have hearts of gold and it was a joy growing up with and listening to them back then.

Now, if I heard that on the radio, I'd bet everything I had that those were black singers. It just sounded so southern gospel to my ears. Superb vocals.
