- craftinamerica.org. Marc Savoy is a musician, master accordion maker, and champion of Cajun culture. He founded Savoy Music Center in Eunice, Louisiana in 1966, where he builds and repairs Cajun accordions. He and his wife Ann play together in the Savoy-Doucet Band, and they frequently collaborate with three of their four children as The Savoy Family Band.
HARMONY bridges the art forms of music and craft, celebrating the joy of music and the creation of handcrafted instruments. Featuring accordion maker Marc Savoy and the Savoy family, bow maker Susan Lipkins, luthier Doug Naselroad and the Appalachian Artisan Center Culture of Recovery Program, and artist Richard Jolley, whose monumental glass and steel sculpture inspired a violin concerto.

I have deep acadian roots dating to 1635. Acadian (Cajun) culture is dear to my heart. This music draws tears from me every time I hear it. A very special congratulation to Ann Savoy for being such a true Cajun.
Living here in South Australia, I love the Savoy family. God bless you all. Belle toujours
I am an ACADIAN from New Brunswick Canada so very glad to come across this post,,thank you 😊
Acadian culture whether it be in Canada or in Louisiana is a beautiful thing!
I love that you have kept this music alive. Thank you Marc. I love it. Fantastic.

Proud, happy family, what's better?😊😊😊
I found out a lot about this family I did not know until I watched this documentary. Marc is a National treasure, along with Ann. So glad for Joel and Wilson carrying on the Cajun music.
Loved seeing the family and their amazing history. Down here in Australia we don't have much in the way of cajun, but Marc and his family have become embedded in my heart. I love their music and their beautiful outlook on life......
I m an Italian American, papa Italian and mother a sweet Cajun Lady from Lafayette! It is the best part of me!
I love the music, and thanks to TH-cam uploaders can enjoy it even in outback FNQ.
Thank you for your wonderful video history of a great cajun family and friends. I really enjoyed seeing your history and appreciate your music....all of you are a real treasure to Louisiana. All the best for the future......An Albertan

Hello Louisiana.
C'est bien de preserver et de chérir la culture cajun et acadienne.
Merci ❤
Very nicely put together. I myself can’t play any instrument so I always have a lot of admiration for a musician.
Marc you have a beautiful voice, if I do say so myself. Your passion is evident in all you do say and play! Thank you.
I played in a Rock Band back in the second half of the 1960s'. Our Band purchased a set of Pearl Drums, microphones and guitars strings from Savoy Music. Marc would loan use a Bass Amp for gigs. I will never forget his kindness.
Lors de notre voyage en Louisiane, en 2018, un grand moment fût la rencontre avec Marc et Sarah, à Eunice, berceau de la Cajun Music.
Merci encore 😉.
I'm Latino and grew up listing to Conjunto (also accordion) music and these Cajun music is so wonderful to listen too; loud and happy. Enjoyed it, my amigo. Great music.

I bought two LPs with Cajun Music a long time ago. One with D. L Menard and one with Link Davis. Great Music.

Ah yes. Marc Savoy, a National Treasure.
Bravo et merci de garder la tradition Marc.❤
I first heard the Magnolia Sisters at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod many years ago. Their music was brilliant. That was my first introduction to Cajun music the rhythms of which I like very much.
Waving Hello from Richmond, Virginia.

Would it be nice to have them old real usa cars be around them. Cajun music, good food and relics. Love it. Greetings from the old country of Holland. Stay this 😊
Thanks for the tears in my eye's. I change from one style of music to another one month rock, country another, all music has life that shares the souls fervor. Opera to yodeling , kiddy to skitty a moody man am I but when I bounce back to Cajun there is always tears in my eyes. Thanks
Wow, you have summed up music and its meaning to all humanity, so very well. I love it all, opera to country, classical to hip hop...rap...ok mostly, but some rap lyrics to much violence image rage at times, negative for humans ?
So proud to be a descendant of these wonderful people. My dad was from Erath, La. and my aunts lived in Abbeville, La. I would visit them all summer from the age of 3 till I was 16. My parents lived in Texas so this was like going to Disney land for me. Wonderful memories.
God bless you, such amazing talent and heart. Love this music❤🎼🎹🎼❤
I absolutely loved this!!
I can't sing or play an instrument...
I saw Joel Savoy play at the Vancouver jazz Festival a few years ago and after the show approached him and asked(in English, stupidly ) if he spoke French. He gave me an irritated look, said yes and turned away to talk to someone else. I should have asked in French, I was just star-struck and it came out like that. I've wanted to apologize ever since. My parents were French-Canadian and I grew up bilingual. I have always wanted to speak to someone from Louisiana and never had the chance until then and screwed up. From what I've seen on the 'net, the French spoken in Canada and Louisiana has more similarities than with contemporary European French. Besides, I love Cajun music.
I Think The Savoy Family are just Wonderful! I just love Port Arthur Blues. I,d give anything to hear them live. Preferably at Mullates in New Orleans. Cajun music just lifts my Soul. Merci Savoy Family.
Wow, pretty bonehead maybe you'll get a 2nd chance
As a young Louisiana State Trooper in the late '70s, we had a few troopers who could only speak limted English assigned to Cajun parishes. Being from North Louisiana I found interaction with some Cajuns to be temperamental. That was really their nature and harmless. I miss my old Cajun buddies.
Go see them at their shop. Apologize and just join the fun. You'll be okay.
I live in a diametrically opposed location on the continent from them.@@patriciajrs46
Great to see Marc Savoy’s videos over the years/decades
Nicely done. Est bien! I know about all these people and they are the genuine article. Handmade, homemade music from the hearts of generation after generation of the survivors of the Acadian deportation from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island ( aka Isle St. Jean ). This little pocket of old, old, French culture that we call Acadiana, in the southwest corner of Louisiana, where a dialect of French from the 1600's is still spoken, is something all Americans should treasure. Vive L' Acadie!
Thank you your music is beautiful and so full of joy and G_ds gift for those who hear it. Shalom
Very interesting and very. good!
The story you tell with just 7 words, I Eee Thank You , I love our loving generation of age also , i believe for a bright future we must illuminate our past🙏🏻🫶🏻🙋🏻♂️
Awesome video! Love the Savoy’s! Great people and my great friends!
Excellent new video!
Lots of smiles , Good stuff Keep on keeping on.
One of the most talented families I’ve ever encountered. Met them in Kansas City years ago and have followed them and watched them perform ever since.
I was lucky enough to meet this man this myth the legend of cajun culture and humble human being at that he politely declined our ask for an autograph and after a brief conversation told us "the world is better place with young men like us" this man is a grandfather to any and all young Cajuns trying to cling onto their culture
beautiful !
So amazing to see how the father is so happy and passes on the music to his kids!
Such a proud dad and happy family, happy warm people.
Would love to have a beer with them and listen to them playing and enjoy what they do the most!
A great example to us all.

Fantastic episode! ❤️🔥🪗
Hopefully older and older but never lost !!!
Like the Cajun acordian. In the 40’s producers tried to include acordian in country music. I thought it terrible. Then hearing Cajun style on the old style homer. Loved it
Hohner?

Les Français d'Amérique de sa Majesté le Louis XIVe rayonnent encore aujourd'hui car il disait qu'il voulait qu'on parle de lui dans 300 ans ... un très beau visionnaire ...
