I’m 47 years old a white man living in Connecticut, I personally think as Americans we need to just call ourselves Americans and that would benefit everyone, I have 2 jobs, residential roofing and bartending in a fine dining restaurant, any one who says I have white privilege is welcome to walk in my shoes for a week, then come back to me
Have you been followed in stores ? Have your ancestors hard labor$ been given to black ppl? Have one of your family members been shot in the back by a cop and charges dropped? Have you went to a school were the books were outdated and you were funded 3x less than a suburbian black kid? Have you sat in a class room at 12 years of age ,while your teacher tells you that slave masters were 'Good ' Ppl??? Have you studied any health issues yet? Do you know that blk woman giving birth are 3x likely to die if the doctor is Caucasian? Did you ever get denied a job (before they seen you ) because you have an ethic sounding name, ? Listen Google is at your fingertips I'm not asking you to believe me but this is not even worth data usage. You can always look the other way because that is Exactly what Privilege Means!!
My dude I was one of those poor white men. I grew up being taught all colors are equal. You judge their character. When a person shows you they’re trash well, there you go. I treated everyone the same. I have family members who are compulsive liars who I wouldn’t trust to pet sit. I have black and foreign neighbors I’d let watch my kids. People show you who they are color don’t mean shit.
Color doesn't define us as people ,culture does. North American Ne. gros, culture while black is not the same as say the Kalahari bushman culture or the Masi . Those also BLACK . And even between those two, the cultures are vastly different. NAN culture is horrible. Now I'm waiting for the one ( * ) to say " not all" No 💩 those people need gone ☠ .
I grew up, the fifth of six children, on the wrong side of town until my mother met my stepfather while working as a waitress (one of her three jobs at the time). My father was a permanent patient at the VA (severe and violent PTSD and alcoholism - the horrors of Pearl Harbor and fighting in the South Pacific during WWII had made him a sever risk to even the youngest of us and he wasn't released) for until about six months prior to his death). My mother got a very snall check from the VA (around $20 for each child living at home. Nothing else, not even father's GI money. At the time, we lived in public housing and rent took all of that when my eldest sister married at 15. We also get powdered eggs, powdered milk, and blocks of surplus cheese if availabe. As my elder sisters married, their $20 a month ceased. While my mother was working as a waitress at 1 of her 3 jobs she held down, she met my future stepfather, a first generation American whose family were wine makers from Sicily. He was fostered after is father was murdered, joined the Navy, and luckily had just transferred off the Arizona before it went down at Pearl Harbor. He retired from the USN, as a mustang Lt. Commander, soeakingfour languages, and was an engineer. However, being Sicilian, he was dark skinned; and got no special priveleges . We were raised to do for ourselves, just as he did. He set up study areas and extra curriculum after school and during summer and taught us himself. We studied and worked hard, each of us, to succeed (even my eldest sister who married before he joined us). He considered learning important because it would help you succeed in life and was something that could not be taken from you, like so much else. White privlege? What's that? My stepfather had a saying, very similar to that of Dr. King's, "It is not what a person looks like on the outside that matters, but what is in his heart that matters. Honor matters."
Love this! This is such an American story! We have a few things in common! My mom too worked 2-3 jobs for the longest time until she found a great employer who gave her a job and she’s been there ever since, almost 25 years! I’m very grateful she met my stepfather because he taught me so much about life and hard work! Thanks for sharing your story!!!
Idk if his skin color was why he had to work hard. He was a foster child. Wine making in sicily doesn't help much when you live and work in America and dont know your biological father.
Ya see that's the problem. The expectancy of a life of toil and trouble to build up wealth. Just take a look at my ancestors who came to America on 'Coffin Ships' 90% of the people who rode them died. They fled the Famine created by the British government exporting food, blockaded and tariffed aid out of my country while people were eating grass to sustain themselves literally dying with green mouths. They came to America and had propaganda campaigns against them as evil Christian devils barely human. It's the reason why JFK was shot they feared a Christian government because of his Irish background. Fact is, everyone in the United States suffered under the boot of the rich. They say you can lay a flower at every steeple of the railroad that crosses the middle of America for every Irishman that died building it. White privilege is just nonsense for people to create a market for race baiting and controlling the black population into voting Democrat forever. If it was true that it exists today in the way it's said to exist none of these students would be in a prestigious college like this. Also you have to ask why is there no Chinese privilege where you have rich Chinese living in China? You know? Why only white yet no other rich people in the world are targeted like this? Slavery isn't a white only invention and especially not of black people. The Arab slave trade still goes on today it's only the whites who ended it, Christian whites lead the charge I might add with the Vatican being the first place in the world to denounce slavery followed by Venice and my country Ireland.
You’re 💯 % correct and I couldn’t have said it better myself, the youth is taught these things and also on top of that taught to accept it and not to question anything. It also becomes a downward spiral because all you have to do is brainwash or ‘teach’ the first generation these things then they teach the next the same and without anyone questioning what they’re taught it just becomes, what they believe, is truth and reality. Thats a big difference between the education system now compared to 20-30 years ago. We were taught to question our teachers, and question what was being taught. It was encouraged to debate and talk about it. One of my favorites things to do was to get into detail and try and question why or how and have the teacher explain and defend what he or she was teaching.
I grew up in the days of white privilege. Both parents worked to put a roof over your head and food on the table. This was many years ago, BTW the blacks also had white privilege for both parents worked and grandparents were involved in the family. Saw an older video from T. Sowell a few weeks ago, he said that intact black families had a lower poverty rate than intact white families.
Indeed it turned out even WITH actual oppression that a sense of self worth, the utmost class, neighborhood unity, the desire to persevere and a Christian moral standard that anyone could rise above those who were "systemically" above them Then the Democrats like LBJ and Margaret Sanger came along and found a way to smash down the fastest growing group economically in America at the time and twisted it to look like the Republicans were the ones against them. Banished men from homes and set up planned parenthood in every city and now if you desire the Black community to go back to the greatest exemplar of the American dream you're racist... Apparently. Just look at the photos of those days versus now. Everyone in suits, owning houses and raising families. now... Twerking and all the rest for Kamala and Obama cracking the DNC whip. This is EXACTLY what Thomas Sowell has been speaking about Jim Crow was replaced with this democrat scheme and they hate that it's going to die for good soon. God willing Let it die. Let america be great period And cut of racisms life support
"White" privilege is basically the cultural discount you get when your behavior and identity--as identified by the person that can help you--matches their culture and identity. These people are often either white leftists or people of a different enough culture to recognize these differences, but since we don't live in a region with a non-white default culture, you don't see the concept except on racial lines. Or, in other words, when you comply with and acculturate to the local culture there are benefits. People treat you appropriately compared to if you demonstrate you don't belong. So, be a soldier--of whatever race--be on a military base, and behave as a soldier and you will get treated one way. If you misbehave or are not a soldier, they will treat you differently, even if you belong there as a dependent of a soldier. Likewise, if you're in Central Africa and a member of a local tribe and behave accordingly, you will get all the same sorts of benefits of "white privilege" as that culture has in it to extend. TL;DR: "White privilege" is a bastard-expression for the benefits you get from behaving like an "upstanding member of society" for whatever society you happen to be a part of.
I grew up as one of two boys with a single mother on welfare. My older brother is indigenous, and before I was ever born she lost one child to defects at birth and another had to be adopted out. As I said we were poor. Most people would happily trade places for what I have now but it was a long grind. I had terrible croupe that put me in the hospital a lot. I had a welfare provided breathing machine until I was 10. I was told I would go blind by the age of 18. The fact I can see is a miracle of modern science. None of this stuff made me anymore than an outcast as a youth. Here in 2025 some poor black youth has been taught to assume that I’m some undeserving white guy and the odd part is that if there is anyone who might be able to understand some poor kid of any colour’s plight it would be me. I got ahead but it wasn’t a fluke, nor was it some sort of built in advantage that went with my race. If you’re a minority and poor, there are lots of poor people who are white. Don’t hate each other. Get together and change the world.
10:50 it's because it's not a belief, it's a spoon fed answer to a question that they've been "taught" how to answer like moral no-brainers that require no critical thought to unpack. Everything is dumbed down, even the morality.
I think they are trying to hide the fact there are still African slave traders but I'm not sure why. We should be sending armies to Africa and the middle east to fix it. Oh wait we are already... Yet they don't say to end the slave trade why?
U.S. poverty rate in the United States 2023, by race and ethnicity. In 2023, 17.9 percent of Black people living in the United States were living below the poverty line, compared to 7.7 percent of white people.
" Like, like, like, stuff like that, uhhh ... I da know, like " ..... Add to that the childish upward voice inflection and we're looking at classic California " valley girl speak ", the current " vocabulary " of today's 20 something crowd. " Fur shur ....like ".
@@midnitetokerj7961 which is cool but I'm 51 and living next to Pekin Illinois which was the klsn capital of Illinois while Indiana was the klan capital of the midwest, I could tell you a few things that were common place.
My only problem with how this professor tackled this would be that he confirmed their bias repeatedly by saying for sure white privilege exists. He should have just kept asking the question so they could confirm or deny it themselves. That’s how you teach people how to think.
I don't think the problem is just the young generation. Most people at age 19 believe -- even passionately -- things we don't know much about. It's normal. As a young Boomer during the Vietnam War, I got caught up in anti-war ideology and said the military should be eliminated! That's crazy! Duh -- I didn't know at 16 what I knew at 35. As I got older, I understood that we need to be able to defend ourselves and our allies. People grow up.
Exactly. That's why it says so much that "doubting Thomas" is a Saint in the Catholic Church. I've been to so many homilies where it is said that his doubt was actually healthy. That it was right to question, but that faith was important too and that faith without questions is not necessarily a good thing. After faith is trusting in a reliable witness without seeing it first hand. It's is through moderation and an inquisitive mind we find truth. The left these days won't even question the TV even if it says things that are fundamentally illogical. Men are women but we don't know what a woman is.... Donald Trump is a threat to democracy but we don't know what that is It's all the same thing for them
@@daviddiggens8841 Rule #1 of cults: You don't know that you're in it. Have you ever questioned anything Trump says? Have you questioned your right-wing views?
I reassess my views every day and have after a long time come to my conservative perspective because I see it as the most beneficial, logic and ethical world view to have. I'm not young and have lived in many countries, several that were former communist and have learned the harm that causes. I support Trump because he is a moderate who most aligns with the views and policies that directly benefit the majority and do not support KH because I've seen where her ideology leads. No more no less. If Trump changes then I will reassess him. After all he's one of only two options and I have other people in mind to lead in the future. But as to the cult thing THAT is expressly a Kafka trap and swear you are baiting me: so because I don't think I'm in a cult I must be in one? That's not how things work. I know exactly where I stand today but tomorrow depends on many things.
@babyamyxo-o6c nobody actually worships trump... they love thee country and freedom... its different for the left, they blindly believe what the left says and matter how bad their economic situation is and crime has entered their neighborhoods, they refuse to admit... thats a cult
Strong families from any race or culture will tell you that you have to work and fight your way to the top. If you complain to a family like that, they will laugh at you and help you fight harder to get to the top. Great families don't believe in being a victim of anything, we all believe that no circumstances will keep us down, we love and support each other. We will never be victims, we will always be victors. Just, because our community and family has our back every step of the way.
Most people who use terms, such as white privilege, usually mean majority privilege. Usually, the best demonstration they can offer of this is something like the color of band aids matching skin tone, erc. Do they actually believe there is international white privilege in China or in Nigeria?
Well said, I was born in the 1970s in Central Illinois...in a town that was 83% white, I can vividly remember telling our 😂white friends about "racism" and they didn't see until other whites started calling them ni@@er lovers, places they used to go and have no problems going, all of a suddenly they weren't welcomed, even they saw it for what it was.
I grew up middle class with a white dad and a Filipino mom. During applications to colleges, a white family member not in my immediate family told me to make sure I put my race down and emphasize being Filipino. I don’t know if that got me into college and if I even did a good job of emphasizing that, but I got in. I never agreed with there ever being white privilege in my lifetime. My mom worked hard and made a lot of money more than my dad that’s for sure.
If a professor asked me What is White Privilege? I would have no choice but to say "A Myth", at least with regard to legal and institutional questions. Minorities have enjoyed 60 years of the benefits of greater opportunity with regard to many scholastic admissions and employment opportunities. Any institution with a stated goal of diversity over merit can only do it with discrimination so one must ask, who really has privilege?
This is my personal opinion but people need to stop generalizing large groups of people. I’m Irish, my forefathers were enslaved by the English for 800 years as 1 million of us died of famine and another 1 million had to flee their homeland to try to survive. When they got to America they were treated as second class citizens. In the south Irish and white were two separate ethnic groups. The Irish never had “white privilege”
I want to know where my white privilege is, grandparents escaped from eastern europe in the 1900s with nothing, I come from a single parent family that earned minimum wage all sleeping in one room. Lived on a housing estate where basically all the welfare recipients were put, think a british version of a trailer park. Yet my mother taught me to be self sufficient and I could have gone down a different route and yet I worked my up from the bottom to earn enough to get out of there and yes, I do own my own house now, none of it was given to me, I had to earn and pay for everything myself. People imprison themselves in their own heads believing all these things but never think to do something about pulling themselves up, instead, they get the privilege to blame everybody else but themselves.
You are a very smart young man Jojo. I am now 73 years old looking back on my life I learnt early on to ask questions, listen to the answers and the make my own judgment. If I was not happy with the answer I would do my own research, mostly read books, articles and basiclly anything to satisfy my mind. This is not taught these days and how to think critically and are often confronted with comments like you are a conspiracy therorist or you are racist. tutors and higher education people are teaching their radical views and this needs to be stopped as it is basically brain washing. Some of the smartest people that I have had the pleasure of interacting with over my time on this earth never went near a University. These people the taught me more than about life and how to go about it than any educator did. I tried to instill this phylosophy int my children and now m grandchildren, always ask questions, listen, watch and do yuor own research. I thank the good Lord for my ability to help young people and maybe make a small difference as i believe we need to. Carry on doing your good work and god bless.
I live in northern Michigan Not as “white” as it used to be since the Mackinaw companies started importing Jamaican’s to work in the hospitality industry. Used to be local people doing that work but the Jamaican’s were willing to work for less. Many who came to work married or had children here and stayed.
I never saw it at all and everybody in my neighborhood black white and Hispanic everybody was poor the crazy thing is this everybody that is prosperous now there was a move in some of our lives to make something happen in now we are the prosperous ones all the other people that didn't they're still sitting back in the same neighborhoods. It's all about the individual choices individual choices will get you more success in life when they are good choices and yes it starts in the home with the mother and father
Yup they have to say My now so it protects them from criticism except it doesn't. Everyone woke up to the bull. It will only momentarily continue that the grifters get their way. The internet is far too strong for them to hide the corruption.
my roommate likes to talk about white privilege. (i'm white, she's half korean and half german lol.) and how i should acknowledge it or whatever. so i say "asian people are statistically the most successful people in america. so please explain to me why you're such a failure and then acknowledge your asian privilege." the conversation usually ends there.
@@toodlepop Tell her you don't like her talking in a way that makes everyone white a bad guy when everyone knows history can tell the vast majority of Europe was enslaved by Romans Arabs Vikings Africans and every iteration of every people that ever existed. It's only America, Italy and Germany that fell into the race trap in white society.
@@toodlepop We gotta shut them down, lol. The whole point of bringing up privilege is to morally guilt us and make us feel. It makes them feel justified as a victim. Ew, I feel it's so shamless to revel in victimhood like that. But I'm most surprised that no one seems to point out that claiming victimhood and accusing another of privilege is a form of manipulative moral guilt-trip. When the person doing it has internalized that belief, they won't have any empathy for the person they're doing it to at all. They think they're on the right side, making us check our privilege.
No matter what the situation is in a person's life, God always has His Way to balance things out for them nor matter who or what they are or where they're from and/or kind of things they have gone through throughout their lives. I, for example, have a few physical limitations which 2 of them I was born with; YET God has GREATLY Blessed me with the Balance which makes it all the more than worth it for me. I utterly wouldn't want to have it any other way either. Thank God and Amen. ❤❤❤❤❤
Look at the international map of Human rights, current slavery and Christian countries. Very odd the evil Christians are the most free, most tolerant and most forgiving countries in the entire world. The way people talk about Christians you would expect the opposite but the internet will never be stopped no matter how much they try to act against it.
In the 80s, I went to a wealthy high school but I was one of the poor teens. The few black teens that went to the school, all of them were from wealthy families. None of them were in the poor teen group. Only one black teen would even talk with us poor teens. The others wouldn't even say hello and even looked down on us. In those times and where we grew up the issue was wealthy vs poor. No one cared about the color of one's skin. We were all American and discrimination was how much money your parents made. I personally didn't want to be included because I knew the wealthy teens were into drugs and other things that I didn't want to be around. So I don't believe that 'white privilege' is an issue.
Is only Receiving 1350 a month Poor? That's All I get. Yet everything I own, I OWN! I Owe No One! and am able to put 500plus away a month... Now, I am Single, That Does Help. But still.. I also Don't Drink, Smoke, Do Drugs, Hangout at Bars/Night Clubs, go to Church where they Tithe you 5, 6, 10 times during a service.. No Cell Phone. Everything I watch, even New Movies, is/are FREE On the Internet, LEGALLY If you know where to look and have/use the FREE Ad Blockers. Also Funny is, When I Could and Did Work, I only could work a Few months here and there because they Kept Firing Me because I was White and would take 2-4 Guys of Another "Race" just to Replace me and what I did by Myself..
The most annoying response that I keep hearing from the younger generations is "I feel like..." When you FEEL then you are expressing EMOTION, as opposed to rational thought. Terms like "I think that...," or "I understand that..." are better ways to express things.
Exactly It’s RICH class privilege nowadays. At some points in America history there were some places that had biased laws. It wasn’t true everywhere in America. Then came the civil rights movement. The belief that ALL white people in America have “privileges” that all other races of people don’t is just that-a wrong minded belief. And I don’t see people talking about the privilege of majority race in countries that aren’t majority “white”. Wouldn’t the majority of any place have it a little easier? Anyone remember the saying “majority rule WITH minority rights? The ideal that Americans are supposed to strive for in opinions.
As percentages? You can google it, but here's poverty from my memory. (poverty may not be synonymous with poor in this.. IDK i.e all people in poverty are poor, but maybe not all poor people are in poverty??) Native Americans: 22% Black and Hispanics, virtually tied at 17% White: 9% Asian: 7%
U.S. poverty rate in the United States 2023, by race and ethnicity. In 2023, 17.9 percent of Black people living in the United States were living below the poverty line, compared to 7.7 percent of white people.
My dad grew up in a poor county in Georgia, in a trailer with his five brothers. He always taught me about wealth privilege, or class privilege. But he also instilled a hard work ethic to go out and get the things I wanted to do and not expect anything. Whatever job I am doing, do the best job. He learned that by getting out of poverty with hard work so he laughs when white privilege comes up
No she can't question it or she could not play her victim card and we all know that without the victim card what you going to get . So you have to play the victim card all the time every day in every situation because if you don't have the victim card what do you have .
Guess you didn't watch 'till the end? The teacher asked the Indian girl who according to her could be considered privileged in her home country. She responded that this would probably be rich people.
“You are not smarter than her” He shows his ignorance from time to time! I have 2 decades of life experience on her? I am European, speak 8 languages, have businesses on 3 continents and I can define what a woman is…. She thinks skin color matters…..
Tell me how heavy that chip you carry on your shoulder is bud. You are watching a youtube video and think the guy in it is speaking directly to you when hes in a classroom. Dont agree with their mentality. But happy to call out stupidity where ever i see it. Based on your name you sound like you got a ego issue. Perhaps you are part of the problem?
My man….. you have two decades on her, she’s still a kid. Doesn’t make you more intelligent, it makes you more experienced and hopefully wiser. You HOPEFULLY have opinions on things that you’ve changed since being 19 yourself. That was his point. Sounds you took that a little too personally, cmon man lol. You’re supposed to be the grownup and recognize this
@@yesyouarecorrectbut never said she’s either more or less intelligent than you bro, what are you talking about? I said you’ve had more time to gain experience and knowledge. And he was also saying “Give her a break on what she says, she’s in front of crowd and getting streamed online” Again….. you’re taking it so personally, as an adult man, I do actually question what you’re working with there buddy. A grown secure man would not be trying to argue such a dumb point… “HOW DARE YOU SAY SHES SMARTER THAN ME, YOU DONT KNOW ME!” Seriously? 🙄
Sooo couple things, I've said it before, but looking at me I'm white as white can be. I have a completely mixed heritage but that mix is mostly white races with some American Indian by way of my great grandmother. Where I live for elementary school they bus white students to "black" schools and black students to "white" schools without taking other races into account. In 5th grade I was one of four white students in a class of 35. They showed the movie "Roots" in class that year, a black student turned to me after and said "That's what your people did" and I said "Not my family, we didn't even live in the US then. My grandparents came here during WWII and my grandma on the other side is Indian. We didn't do that." and he said "Oh". For some reason, I was the only one asked, the teacher who was also black, didn't say anything to defend me and I think they were all shocked that I was able to push back. The teacher didn't say "This is history, not something we can apply today." He also didn't point out that we had THREE black people that their parents were actually black immigrants so they also could not have historically been part of that time in history. The overall teaching was "this is what white people did to you" by way of the movie, without any context or any explanations. Just presented the movie and let everyone draw their own obvious conclusions. It also wasn't explained that it wasn't a true to history movie and what the actual differences and true history was. Just showed the movie. Things like that perpetuate the problem. Further example? My wonderfully smart niece in Jr High had history class and in it the teacher said straight out that the only slavery was the slavery from Africa to the US. No other countries, no other times in history, just here in the US with people "taken" from Africa. When my wonderfully smart niece listed other times in the world and history that are known for slavery and enslavement, she said that wasn't real slavery and didn't count. And then she sent my niece to the principal's office. True story. Again total lies and basically indoctrination in the school system. The first incident took place 40 years ago and the second 7yrs ago, in the same town. The difference? Apparently at some point we stopped bussing.
What you are taught at home can persist even when facts do not support the narrative you believe. From someone who grew up poor, I was taught from an early age you have to work hard to be successful regardless of your sex or ethnicity.
Its Economic advantage built through years of families saving in order to help their children do better than their parents. There is nothing wrong with that, many families parents do without so their saved money can be used to help their children do better in life. That is not privilege, it's called hard work! I'm white and I am the first in my family to go to college.
I am pretty sure once the human race has mixed itself into a uniform skin color, people will start looking at other traits to hate upon! Who knows what? Colour of they eyes perhaps? Because haters going to be haters no matter what.
Yeah she's obviously never heard of affirmative action that forces companies to hire black people if they're qualified or not . So the fact that she doesn't know this when she's probably benefiting from affirmative action right now just shows she doesn't know very much about anything .
college students...most of the rest of us are smart enough to see that the only things that you really care about are not having to work and not being held accountable for your actions.
She said we have privilege in academics. I dare anyone to look up how many grants are for only black or brown vs for only white. You'll get your answer.
I’m surrounded by poor hard working white people struggling to just survive, pay their bills, and raise their children on incredibly difficult situations.
What about Black privilidge? Afirmative action can withold a place in college from an academically gifted white person in favour of an averagely gifted Black person!!! Priviledge is circumstantial.
My definition of white privilege, this from a 60+ man of color. My experience sees white ppl don't see their privilege that society gives them not from the politeness of ppl, but from the whiteness of white ppl and those who want to be treated as white ppl. eg. I have a white female friend who doesn't understand the concept of ppl who open door ir hold door open fir her, and why women of color the door doesn't get opened ir held open as much. She thinks its just some ppl are just nicer n it's not about the color of their skin....I wud consider her very pretty, blond, blue eyes. Well mannered, educated, never going to bed wanting anything. Her parents not well off, but dedicated to give their children the best of everything they cud afford. Its very hard for me to say no to her when she asks for my help, mainly cuz she has always giving me the right thing at times when uts needed . Financially, spiritually or just ear to allow me to vent about my life's problems. Racism in my work place. Walmart s racists policies that work well for white ppl, nit as much for those of color....only Walmart employees wud know what I speak of....unless they have white privilege ..n don't know it..
Open question: When did various American groups such as Irish/German/Italian/Polish Americans begin to be regarded only as 'white'. Even in the early 2000s there was always an emphasis on the 'motherland' (e.g. look at the Poles or Irish in the series The Wire, and lots of movies make such references and distinctions e.g The Godfather "my Kraut-Mick friend!") But now everyone of european ancestry is 'white' and talked about as if they were all confederate soldiers or some universally guilty party So when did this shift occur?
To all of the parents here; Do you remember when the kids were still in their formative years and we as parents were warned incessantly that if you told them consistently that they were "dumb" or "worthless" and that "they would get nowhere in life" that it would become a self-fulfilling prophesy? The left has managed to do that on a massive multi-generational scale. To all of the black people: If there are people out there NOT pandering to you and treating you like any other Joe, know that we are the ones that truly care about you...
And no one stops to think that maybe these rich people Earned their riches through hard work whether it be a physical labor thing or using their brains taking test after test of hard school work to be able to earn their riches?
I think the problem is we as white people were taught not to see color, where colored people were taught to be proud of their color. Everyone should’ve been taught the same thing
Killers are gonna kill. I don’t mean that literally. I mean people with drive and who take chances are going to succeed. Race, religion, background, etc. doesn’t matter as much as the drive of the individual. If you believe it, have a goal, and take the steps, you can do it. Doesn’t mean you’ll hit the top 1%. There can only be so many people there. It’s 1% for a reason. But you can succeed. You can always succeed. Not everyone is taught that way. I know I said background doesn’t matter, but some folks crank out higher success rates than others anyway. Why? They force the drive I’m referring to at a young age. Wanna know why eastern Asian families, Indian and Pakistani families, and Jewish families crank out more successful people in the US? Tiger moms (and dads). Their parents know it, instill strong values in their kids’ heads, and ride them hard through school (and beyond). Sometimes the kids will resent the pressure, that’s true, but look at the top successful groups in this country and you’ll see the results. Immigrants tend to have this in them. They had nothing. They came to grab their piece of the pie. They already have the drive. We’re seeing this in small business ownership in the Ethiopian communities around here now, too. They are coming over, buying small shops, and have begun riding their kids through college to become doctors and business owners. Watch. They’re going to climb the ladder fast. They make them be killers. The rest of us need to find it internally for ourselves.
The percentage of "white" people is based on how someone looks, not heritage. Personally, I look so completely white, my whole family does, however we have Native American heritage and one of my sisters has darker skin, she is the only one of this generation to do so. Point being, even for her, when they count percentages even she is listed as white, because we look white. The percentages do not really take into account mixed race, just how someone looks.
2:33 While White Americans represent the largest number of people in poverty, this is because they make up the majority of the U.S. population. When we look at poverty rates in relation to each racial group’s share of the population, a different picture emerges.
I had the white privilege to work 60 hours a week until my body gave out and I can no longer work and I do not get any assistance from the government get the picture
Stop worrying about who has more privilege than you, there always will be. Be grateful for the privileges you do have, cause there will always be people that have less then you. Race has very little to do with it.
why does so many black people pronounce "ASK" as "AKS" ??? it drives me crazy, makes the person saying it that way sound so increadibly unintelligent (and i know they in most cases arent).
I'm not understanding the argument. What is privilagein the context they are attempting to define? Why is the context appear to address white privilege as a thing when there are a multitude of privileges that have no relationship to skin color? I would assume there's not much light skin privilege in countries where there are few light skinned people. I'm a male whose ancestors were Irish and I don't have a sense I have a skin color advantage, which offers me a benefit. What really offers me a benefit are skills I acquired by practicing them often and over a long period of time. About the only benefit I think I have is that I am older and a light skinned man and many assume I'm not a criminal. It might be a fact fewer older light skinned men statistically not involved criminal activities; therefore, light skinned older men are assumed not be criminals and given a greater trust for those qualities. Of course that could be false for some older light skinned men. However, there are statistical facts that are used to determine a lot of things, like a teenager having higher insurances rates because statistically they have more frequent accidents. Do things like this tell of all the variables that could be contributing factors? No, they don't. The fact that black males commit more crimes statistically could have a multitude of reasons for that, like assuming they are more likely to be criminals and that assumption creates a bias and a higher potential for an injustice.
How about my parents who did all the right things and I was raised in a Christian home, were we were told you can love who ever you want. If you said anything remotely racist you could expect harsh consequences, my parents had friends all all different races and religions. So society wants this as they should my parents did it and now years and years later, a 19 year old is gonna tell me o have white privilege? And can’t eve. Explain it
I gotta tell you... I really like your messages, BUT.... I'm so tired of people using titles for the videos that are just misleading or extreme... This professor NEVER "GOES OFF ON PEOPLE" This is just misleading. He just uses calm well reasoned questions!!!! Please stop with the extreme video titles. I unsubscribed because of them. I wish more people got the chance to spend some time living in Pennsylvania. In my experience, it is a very different place from the rest of the United States and is probably the prime example of the whole cultural melting pot idea "Done right." I went to West Chester University, which is pretty much Penn State's little sister school. It's close to Philly and definitely leans farther left than Penn State, but we also held a Trump Rally on campus before the 2016 election where Republicans were seemingly the Minority of rally attendees. It was mostly Democrats and Undecided people who wanted to hear what he had to say for themselves instead of believing everything the media said. But... you gotta keep in mind, the vast Majority of Pennsylvania Democrats would probably be considered right leaning to far right in almost any purely Blue State.

Indeed it turned out even WITH actual oppression that a sense of self worth, the utmost class, neighborhood unity, the desire to persevere and a Christian moral standard that anyone could rise above those who were "systemically" above them
Then the Democrats like LBJ and Margaret Sanger came along and found a way to smash down the fastest growing group economically in America at the time and twisted it to look like the Republicans were the ones against them.

Jim Crow was replaced with this democrat scheme and they hate that it's going to die for good soon.

Just because you worked, that’s not white privilege. It would be WP if you got the job and the equally qualified black guy didn’t get it …
"White" privilege is basically the cultural discount you get when your behavior and identity--as identified by the person that can help you--matches their culture and identity.
Hoping for the day when everyone are just fine being Americans who happen to be whatever heritage or color..instead of the other way around..

My only problem with how this professor tackled this would be that he confirmed their bias repeatedly by saying for sure white privilege exists. He should have just kept asking the question so they could confirm or deny it themselves. That’s how you teach people how to think.
That is an excellent and correct point!
That's a good point, but do you think there is no white privilege at all?
I don't think the problem is just the young generation. Most people at age 19 believe -- even passionately -- things we don't know much about. It's normal. As a young Boomer during the Vietnam War, I got caught up in anti-war ideology and said the military should be eliminated! That's crazy! Duh -- I didn't know at 16 what I knew at 35. As I got older, I understood that we need to be able to defend ourselves and our allies. People grow up.
If your not questioning a moral position or a strongly held conviction, your in a cult.

The only privilege theyre talking about is Majority privilege.
Whites are the true minority globally by far.
SO neat listening to your thinking !!! THANK YOU for sharing your truth seeking mind😌
Another question is how do you overcome 'privledge' that you think somebody else has? Do you use their privilege as an excuse?
White privilege 😂, rich privilege maybe, how dumb, people dont even know they're being played
As a white male i tried to get a job in the cal. Dept. of forestry back in the mid 80s and was told no because i’m not black or female.
I'm in Louisiana. We are not all Caucasian. I'm part Indian
It’s actually a very easy question if it really exist.

The most annoying response that I keep hearing from the younger generations is "I feel like..." When you FEEL then you are expressing EMOTION, as opposed to rational thought. Terms like "I think that...," or "I understand that..." are better ways to express things.
how could a person go to African and complain " why there are so many black ?"

It’s RICH class privilege nowadays.
Id be curious to know how the “poor Americans” pie chart works out proportionally though…might paint a different picture? 🤷♂️

My dad grew up in a poor county in Georgia, in a trailer with his five brothers. He always taught me about wealth privilege, or class privilege. But he also instilled a hard work ethic to go out and get the things I wanted to do and not expect anything. Whatever job I am doing, do the best job. He learned that by getting out of poverty with hard work so he laughs when white privilege comes up
Being 19 does not mean you have to be ignorant of facts . And I'm sure she has a Google in her pocket so she can look this up just like I did .
No she can't question it or she could not play her victim card and we all know that without the victim card what you going to get . So you have to play the victim card all the time every day in every situation because if you don't have the victim card what do you have .
My question is, does white privilege exist in Africa, in China, in any other nation that is a majority of another race?
Guess you didn't watch 'till the end? The teacher asked the Indian girl who according to her could be considered privileged in her home country. She responded that this would probably be rich people.
“You are not smarter than her”
He shows his ignorance from time to time!
You’re supposed to be the grownup and recognize this
@@jsik69xSince my quarrel is not with her or her IQ it’s with him and his statement this conversation is pointless!
You tell me
@@jsik69xYeah she is probably more intelligent than me!
How is she more intelligent than me?
@@yesyouarecorrectbut never said she’s either more or less intelligent than you bro, what are you talking about?
I said you’ve had more time to gain experience and knowledge. You can be ignorant on a subject, yet highly intelligent. You’re born with intelligence, you learn knowledge through experience and education. And he was also saying “Give her a break on what she says, she’s in front of crowd and getting streamed online”
Again….. you’re taking it so personally, as an adult man, I do actually question what you’re working with there buddy. A grown secure man would not be trying to argue such a dumb point… “HOW DARE YOU SAY SHES SMARTER THAN ME, YOU DONT KNOW ME!”
Seriously? 🙄
It's like picking at a crusty scab, if you don't leave it alone, it'll never heal.
The professor isn't glossing over or ignoring the 42%, he's playing devil's advocate in order to draw out Philip's thoughts
What you are taught at home can persist even when facts do not support the narrative you believe. From someone who grew up poor, I was taught from an early age you have to work hard to be successful regardless of your sex or ethnicity.
Here is example : If you open a business , who will you hires ?
Its Economic advantage built through years of families saving in order to help their children do better than their parents. There is nothing wrong with that, many families parents do without so their saved money can be used to help their children do better in life. That is not privilege, it's called hard work! I'm white and I am the first in my family to go to college.
I am pretty sure once the human race has mixed itself into a uniform skin color, people will start looking at other traits to hate upon! Who knows what? Colour of they eyes perhaps? Because haters going to be haters no matter what.
Thankyou.
Not gonna lie…. That handsome cousin having more food at the cookout sounded personal😗
When I grew up I was so "po" I couldn't afford the "or" to finish the word "poor"
Yeah she's obviously never heard of affirmative action that forces companies to hire black people if they're qualified or not . So the fact that she doesn't know this when she's probably benefiting from affirmative action right now just shows she doesn't know very much about anything .
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
college students...most of the rest of us are smart enough to see that the only things that you really care about are not having to work and not being held accountable for your actions.
She said we have privilege in academics. I dare anyone to look up how many grants are for only black or brown vs for only white. You'll get your answer.
19 is old enough to know better😊
If we had the privilege they say we do, we would've _used it_ to shut this shit down a long time ago.
RIP to this man's job...
He has been doing this for a while now. He must have tenure because it hasn't gotten him fired yet.
Open question:
When did various American groups such as Irish/German/Italian/Polish Americans begin to be regarded only as 'white'.
Even in the early 2000s there was always an emphasis on the 'motherland' (e.g. look at the Poles or Irish in the series The Wire, and lots of movies make such references and distinctions e.g The Godfather "my Kraut-Mick friend!")
But now everyone of european ancestry is 'white' and talked about as if they were all confederate soldiers or some universally guilty party
So when did this shift occur?
To all of the parents here;
Do you remember when the kids were still in their formative years and we as parents were warned incessantly that if you told them consistently that they were "dumb" or "worthless" and that "they would get nowhere in life" that it would become a self-fulfilling prophesy?
The left has managed to do that on a massive multi-generational scale.
To all of the black people: If there are people out there NOT pandering to you and treating you like any other Joe, know that we are the ones that truly care about you...
It's called you either make yourself successful or you don't
And no one stops to think that maybe these rich people Earned their riches through hard work whether it be a physical labor thing or using their brains taking test after test of hard school work to be able to earn their riches?
I think the problem is we as white people were taught not to see color, where colored people were taught to be proud of their color. Everyone should’ve been taught the same thing
She is holding the microphone like… you know what I mean.
No it's her in about 53% of people who look like her . But I believe that number is more like 65% but I regress .
2 bio parents in the home is the privilege
I think the professor himself needs to challenge his beliefs.
Why are many Americans obsessed with race
We ere all born equal.
This will always be just a study. Stay away from college studies and talk to real older people across America.
I'll be in Marine. sure hope they have jobs.
Stop worrying about who has more privilege than you, there always will be.
Be grateful for the privileges you do have, cause there will always be people that have less then you. Race has very little to do with it.
Other countries dont do this.
Why is that?
why does so many black people pronounce "ASK" as "AKS" ??? it drives me crazy, makes the person saying it that way sound so increadibly unintelligent (and i know they in most cases arent).
Explain it
Yeah he tried but it's not a damn myth
It doesnt exist. Its not that deep at all. Your taught to have excuses for failures in life.
It's not "to axe".
It's "to ask".
And you're in college?
NOTHING specific 😅
You need to brush up on your prob-stat, fella.
I come back occasionally hoping you've stopped this. Maybe they're AI generated titles but it's still click bait. You have good content and don't need to do this!
Well then stop acting like you do !
Bull Pensilvania Is the most racist place I've been.
I like your show and I watch you often but you do pause to much. No disrespect just saying
