My Grandmother was Cheerokee. The removal is worth Millions. The Federal Government has allowed private interests to chip away the land too many times. A victory indeed.
What land? The rez? Anybody, no matter what color they are can buy land on any reservation here in Oklahoma, and any Indian from here in Oklahoma can buy land anywhere else in the US also. Indian land and non Indian land means nothing, unless you’re putting up a casino or liquor store/smoke shop. Shoulda took the money. Now you got nothing but a bill for court costs and some rich lawyers.
Local news said it had something to do with mineral rites and permits because removal of the concrete bases is included in the removal. And those POS take a lot. Still hasn’t been explained who and when gave permission to have it built in the first place.
It’ll take a million dollars a tower to dynamite that concrete up. Worked on a wind farm. Wrong bases were poured. They eventually got the wind tower base remade to accommodate the concrete
This is so bizarre. Enel gets govt money and backing to build the wind farm and then the govt fights them to remove the windmills. Osage wins (deservedly) and then the tax payer is on the hook for the damages. Wtf is this?
Enel will sell ownership of the turbines to a small company; new company will take on the turbines and the legal problems and make a half-hearted attempt to appeal the ruling; new company will string out the appeals, then declare bankruptcy.
After reading the book, I watch for news stories about the Osage Tribe and caught this ruling..........on the internet. Of course the big corporate news outlets stayed away from the story. If the Tribe had not endured enough from government, they still became a target for greedy corporatists in the name of green energy. Which by the way seems to be trending downward in Europe.
It's blackmail the tribe just wants a big fat check for it to stay.

@@dwighthaberly1199 some native american tribes don't care about what " the white man" wants . they want their own unencumbered LAND. the LAND means more to some than any other thing . we'll see what happens.
This video is a bit misleading. The case was not about wind energy. It was related to the fact that the proper permits and permissions were not obtained from the tribe before the installation. Tribal land should not be taken over by the state or local governments. A tribal spokesperson made it clear that they were not necessarily opposed to wind turbines. It was the lack of respect for the tribal land.
The video is not misleading. I heard about this, what it's really about is energy companies taking people's land without their damn permission. It connects to imminent domain, too. The government is using it all over the country to take people's land. It's about "rights". And virtually nobody ever wins against these companies.
So your saying the tribal council that approved this was too stupid to realize a wind tower has a base that is built into the ground??? They were stupid enough to approve a lease without seeing blueprints????? B.S. their blackmailing for a big check using the legal process.
Unprecedented on many fronts; congratulations! I’m finding myself most surprised that the ruling was made by a judge who’s almost certainly liberal. I am not surprised whatsoever at the omission of it all by the MSM, and for the very reasons you cited which are 100% accurate, naturally. Pray up.
You didn’t explain why this should be a national story, it’s interesting, but unless it has some effect on people outside your area it remains a local story. For example, the recent removal of Klamath River hydroelectric dams on tribal land in California, restoring salmon habitat sets a national precedent.
The internet just spread your message brother....we the people have heard and understand what happened! Legacy media is dying due to just this kind of event.
This just popped up randomly on my YT feed, interesting situation there in Oklahoma. There are stories when you search the web, but mostly websites of local news outlets in Oklahoma (looks like its near Tulsa?) and oil/gas/energy industry publications. There was one from NPR and it looks like a transcript from the well-known radio show "All Things Considered" from last January 2024(?). If it gets appealed I'm sure it'll get more widespread attention.
as chris plante, that's plant with an e, explains nearly every day on air, the greatest power the media has is the power to ignore...classically evident here...
So the Indians took the money up front. Then decided the turbine foundations violated mineral rights. Why wasn't the project stopped prior to construction?
Small wind turbines 600 watt have been used on sailboats for over 60 years. On a home I got a vertical wind turbine that I am going to mount as on the garage.
Robert, firstly, congrats. I’m surprised you haven’t caught on corporate press’ reluctance to report anything that makes corporate look bad. Wake up and smell the coffee!😊
They are not “news “ anymore, simply opinion vehicles. It requires all of us to dig for the real story whether this, or any other issue du jour. Self service journalism.
so, you’re telling us that the corporate propaganda isn’t exposing oosa as lacking legitimate authority to exist on land oosa itself recognizes as sovereign indigenous territory. well, i’m exactly as surprised as i should be.
But this isn't a green energy negative story, it's a big company trying to cheat the Osage tribe story. I am all for green energy and all for fairness and accountability.
It's always disconcerting when an obviously Caucasian individual uses a minute sliver of his ancestry to gain notoriety and likely tax exemptions. It just wreaks of duplicity.
I would like to hear the rest of the story. If they don’t want wind turbines, what do they want? Solar panels? Drill baby drill? Fracking? Nuclear? You should probably do something with all that land, considering that it does belong to the United States, not the Osage tribe. Sorry, but you lost the war.
This fight wasn't about wind turbines (the Osage explicitly note that they're fine with wind farms, per se). This court case was about whether private corporations could ignore and override the Osage on what can be done with the Osage's own land -- for the profit of aforesaid private corporations. The Osage simply want control of their own land. If the private corporation had bothered to _negotiate_ a reasonable _deal_ with the Osage _before building_ those turbines, the turbines would be staying put -- and there wouldn't have been any reason for a court case over the matter.
@@briansransom The video itself also notes that the Osage have stated they don't object to wind turbines, _per se_ . This fight was explicitly about native rights, tribal ownership of the land and self-government, not about alternative energy.
Thats just one of the reasons the legacy media is dying
How the hell did they get built in the first place?
That should be the story.
Enel tried to steamroll over the Osage tribe. Good to see the Osage tribe stick up for their rights.
They lie by omission.
Absolutely!!

Just a Normal Money transfer of Taxpayer Funds to Friends of Politicians. Gotta keep those campaign donations coming!
It's called money laundering. The last stage of empiric collapse is looting. We are here.
Business as usual.
And then it returns to the politicians in campaign donations.
Congratulations!
& thank you for bringimg this to our attention.
Because they don't want to say anything negative about "green energy". Blasphemy is not permitted.

Pays off for the greedy energy company and gullible co-ops that convince their members to pay a premium for “green” energy.
I'm guessing they'll appeal it for another 15 years and declare bankruptcy at the end.
Company is too large (international) and profitable to declare bankruptcy.

Wind can work as small units for individual homes, but large scale is ridiculous. Just look at how much trouble Europe is in Now.
Are you referring to the explosion in costs related to wind farms in Europe?
Oklahoma common sense! You showed up on my youtube feed this morning. Good to to see you Robert!
Mr Iten! Thanks for the note. It's been a very long time...
I did hear about it on NPR as a news story but not a long story as it should be. This is big news. How old were the turbines?

Saw this in the Newspaper days ago.
We're all part of one big computer game now😊😊

How long before USSC is called for a favor to overrule?
This must be the wrong kind of DEI for the media.

Because someone on the tribal council realized they could use this as blackmail to get a bigger check later.

I hate to correct you but I heard of this legal win on my local NPR station here in the houston area.
I saw one post somewhere about this story. Just one.
All Wind Turbines are Garbage and a Blight on the Landscape
They needed the judge that fined trump $80 million for saying he didnt do it.
Can the journalist elucidate a specific precedent and will that precedent affect other projects? If not then significance is limited.
Not to mention the oil stolen by carpet baggers in the 1920s
Great news, love to the Osage in OK.
and where does the expended wind turbine parts, go?
Oh wow, I drive right by that place almost every weekday.
