He is my favorite artist. I saw him in a dive bar in Little Rock with 33 people in the room. I walked up to him and told him I loved his music. He is very humble. He should be a superstar. Everyone I make listen to his music love it.
There hasn’t been an artist I’ve discovered like Pony in years. I can play every song and not skip a single one. Amazing voice, great song writing and he kind of has his own genre on the fringe of country, blues, southern rock, but uniquely Bradshaw.
Dirty soulful dirges in a 10 x10, never heard of Pony, but I love his sound. I like your channel Burt, especially when you shared Colter Wall, he is unique in story telling and his voice is indescribable. Keep doing your channel Burt, love it.

I grew up very old school Southern Baptist back in East TN and SW Virginia. Fire and Brimstone…. The entire family was part of the church. Mamaw, papaw, dad, aunts, uncles…extended family. It was a way of life….I remember being about 7 or 8 years old and knowing as soon as I could stop going to church, I would. I didn’t get it, didn’t like it, definitely didn’t want to be part of it. Without getting in the weeds…. I’m agnostic. There might be something else out there… I don’t know…Happy to get deeper on the conversation… I understand struggling with your beliefs and absolutely no one around me felt the same way…. Burt, this is an excellent video. I truly appreciate your openness in talking about your (I assume) deconstruction. I grew up in a religious household (Catholic) as well. In that culture, you’re taught to believe despite a lack of evidence. To have faith. Just have faith. Finally being confronted with the facts that cast doubt on my faith was, as you describe, terrifying. Questioning whether god existed or not was one of the most terrifying experiences and periods of my life. I’m an atheist now, and can say it does get much less scary with time. You said you’d describe your position as “I don’t know,” and I think that is the most responsible and honest position to have on a lot of things if you care about believing true things. It takes guts to say “I don’t know.” It goes against the “faith” value that you’ve been taught. But for me at least, you reach a point where you realize faith is not the virtue you were told it is. For me, I’d rather believe things that are true, and just believing things that are comforting, or just having faith in something without evidence isn’t a reliable way to come to believing true things. This is all to say, much love and peace to you. Deconstructing is hard and scary, but you’re not alone.

Pony is one of my best friends. He stays with me about twice a year while on tour just driving through. I’ll ask him politely if he will do an interview with you. Lol. He played a show last year over here and it was awesome. It’s amazing how far he has come. When we were in our early 20s we drove down to Austin tx because we wanted to “make it in music” but all we did was party the whole time. Lol. Pony never gave up though. He’s a true singer songwriter. Im sure he will catch his break soon enough.
