Excellent effort, and good camerawork/editing. I was doing something similar on my mountain here in Japan, probably same time as you, and tracked it all on my channel. Do you ever feel the need for a claw or thumb on your rig?
Thanks! Yes I have added a thumb and it has been a huge help. I had to modify it to make it fit as none is available for that machine. I’ll look at your channel.
As long as you cut a bench in front of you there is a stable platform. Going over rocks and big roots can get sketchy but I use my bucket as a way to prevent tipping.
That’s sure a handy tool for bench cutting trails.
For sure. I cut the first 50’ with a mattock and then went out and got the mini ex and am still making more trail.

Nice work. Minis are hard to master
Ewart Built I wouldn’t know. It’s the only excavator I’ve ever operated 🤣
Looks like you are running it at about half throttle. Does that help to make your movements more fluid and smooth?
?
Absolutely! I run it with just enough throttle to provide enough hydraulic power. That reduces the jerkiness and makes for better control.
Where you going on that trail, btw? A specific destination?
It is a loop which goes up the mountain and back down about a mile long.
Do the tracks retract in for a narrower footprint?

Yes I did a video on that
Just curious but would a 6 way blade dozer be a little more efficient?
Yes in some places a Sutter dozer would be faster but in rocky conditions not as good.
Question. Why do you place your mud so far away from the trail, especially on the corners, you appear to push everything way down the bank? TKS.
Standard practice is to scatter material downhill to make it less visible to hikers.
Is this micro excavator stable when you operate it in the wood?

is that a 16" bucket
Yes
Thanks, and thank you for the work you do in Pisgah
Do you use the mini to take out all those rhodos and laurels that appear more dense at the end of the video? Or some other cutting method
Yes they are fairly easy to dig with those shallow roots. The E10 struggles a bit with trees but if I take my time I get those out too.
