Got one of those myself, great flying plane. Especially love the wood reinforcements in the fuselage. Imo the only way to build a long lasting foam plane. It kinda seems like the bush conversion is handling bush flying worse than the standard gear. Looks like the suspension bottoms out and digs into the ground. I'd suggest trying the standard gear. Improvement suggestions from my side to TH/RC-Factory would be slightly longer servo horns for the wing to get more travel. Wiring and component placement are completely ignored in the manual. And personaly I would have preferred a wing with only two servos for the sake of simplicity.
Thanks for making us aware of the Jabberwocky, I have been looking for something like that for decades. As a backyard FPV freak, I'm already planning a twin version. So should you guys, if not for prop free camera view, then for mental differential thrust shenanigans.
The fact that you have to go back into it and fix the stupid foam hinges on the wing makes the price seem like a scam. Frankly I bought the first of Hobby Lobby International's Pigi3D EPP foam 3D models and the wing and tail surface hinges were made of some woven tough plastic. That plane is now 22 years old, has dozens of flight hours on it and the hinges are still working.
Whoa! Bush gear and full span ailerons/snap flaps got that thing to wizard level tricked out, super-souped up JabberWokkieSoarus trail/bush trimming MoCheeeen 😊 Love your videos. You guys are a trip. Your T-shirts rock, too. Oh and your decals outlast all of the other "stickers" ive slapped on my car. Good on ya! 👍
Hi, nice video!! One question, have you ever made a video showing how to correctly hold your fingers on the gimbal of the remote control? And I wanted to ask you if you have ever adjusted the tension of the gimbals, I have a nx8 Spektrum and I think that maybe by tightening them a little I can make more accurate movements... but I have to try... I ask you because I see that you are very good and precise in the maneuvers, thanks.
There actually really isn't a correct way to hold the gimbals. You can use thumbs or pinch - and there are world champion RC pilots who fly using both techniques as well. Use what works for you.
@@TailHeavyProductions Yes, I understand, but I wanted to know how you hold your fingers on the gimbals because you are very good, certainly better than me.. 😉 for example today I tested holding the gimbals not on the tips with the fingertips but holding them with two fingers at the sides and I had the impression of giving a very precise and rational command without jerks, I just wanted to ask you if you also handle it in this way... thanks anyway for the answer.
The Jabberwocky looks like the name sounds, bit strange very tough and pretty agile. I just flew a glow powered plane for the first time today, picked up a 72'' piper Comanche, not sure who produced the kit but its old (built sometime late 80s). And a 81'' top flight Cessna 182 (built 2010 ish). Got them from an older gentleman. Both had never flown. I flew the Comanche today.
I have one plus quite a few other RCFactory/TH planes. The Jabberwocky is a fun plane but too heavy to be floaty. The puddlestar is the middle ground size wise between the Jabberwocky & Beaver. The puddlestar is way more fun to fly and so floaty in the air. Added bonus - no landing gear to break but you can still do all the touch & goes plus water landings.
Remember that beauty-contest winner Ki-61 you dumb-thumbed into the deck about a year back? I desperately want to see some sort of resurrection or rebuild or new build of that airframe. That thing was a flying art show.
I tend to blame that on the grass grabbing the wingtip. Too low! Regardless, we cannibalized her, sadly, but the innards will go into a fun project nonetheless. -Zach
It's always so much fun watching you guys doing some crazy stuff! I have no idea how to fly planes because I am a Collective pitch helicopter guy but your skills are making a huge impression on me. This all for sure is not easy at all! Great video! Greetings from Poland!!
Never had a 3D plane without weak landing gear. It's always the first thing I "upgrade". I also maybe have one on order from aussie aeroworks. He already forgot me, once.
@TakeItToTheGround haha I kept bugging John and finally have one on its way to me should be here tomorrow 😂 I think first thing I'll do is wrap the carbon gear in fibre and smother with ca ... Ive only had the step 1 and a crack beaver from rc factory but both were fantastic 👌 really looking forward to playing with this one ... ive ordered a 1000kv motor to go with it because only one ive got close atm is 1250kv in that size range 🙃 not sure how much of a difference it would make but figured just go with what they suggested
@@showusyaguppysaustralia1515 Be funny if he was promising us the same jabberwocky. BTW: I have a step 2 which has the same fragile landing gear as the jw. To fix it I layered flat carbon fibre (0.5 by 10 mm ) to the landing gear and wrapped it with nylon thread and held it with CA. I then replaced the wheel nuts with eye bolts and connected a rubber band between the wheels. I've had a couple of Beavers. Awesome plane.
@@TakeItToTheGround I've used Kevlar tow thread to reinforce the ends of fiberglass tent poles that tend to split and fail, with quick CA, it's a lasting repair. Nylon is kinda stretchy, I mean it might work OK, but I've ten 10 seasons worth of use on the tent poles I reinforced. The Kevlar thread is not woven it's all unidirectional and lays really flat so it doesn't take up much space when wound tightly. So, wrapping extra CF mesh with nylon thread seems like there could be voids. Vacuum bagging with epoxy is the usual way with carbon mesh and Kevlar tow for better strength. But again CF landing gear with this kind of cross-section is still going to be more likely to fail than Dural.

Yeah, every time I look at a twisted hobbies plane I get to the cart and see the price and go ummmm, yeah no freakin way for a bunch of flat sheets of EPP. Next impulse.
The carbon gear is notoriously bad on the bigger twisted planes......I've had 4 sets of gear on my yak xl separate and delaminate right at the bend....it's too thin for the planes weight
Nope. Different missions. Fun Cub NG is not marketed as a 3D plane and is also floatier than the Jabberwocky (lower wing cube loading). Aka the FunCub NG is more of a legit bush plane rather than a bush/3D hybrid.

You get what you pay for with their models. After owning countless ones over the last 10 years, I feel they make the best foam 3D models by far. They’re the most refined, and have so much developing time into them hence the higher costs! If you pick one up, you won’t be disappointed 🙂
Then you’re really missing out. I thought their prices were ridiculous too till I built the crack yak lite a few years ago. I’ve got several hundred into it but it is my best flying plane by far. It’s fricking awesome. I scratch built my own design years ago and it flew about the same but it took me 10x longer to build. I’ll never need to do that again while the TH kits are available. My time is worth a lot to me, as everyone’s should be to them, cus when it runs out, it’s gone forever.

Brilliant, inspiring, funny, skilful, and what the hobby should be about to attract new young pilots. Great job guys!

Foam tac is awesome for that exact type of fix. Up and flying in 20 min.
I did the same trick to my twisted cracks yak xl....glad I did it right....hasn't broken since
We use some sort of glue and tape for the hinges on the foamies, hinges never broke

What kind of thread? Like Kevlar or sewing thread? Or just use some decent Dural gear legs. Carbon Fiber this thin and flexible is going to fail.
