I really wanted to talk about this and this video seems the place. I started playing Rec Room in late 2020, I was about 12 at the time and most of the popular games then were well made adventure maps with decent stories and settings. One day, while playing a map called ^ThoseWhoMourn I met someone who solidified the reason I played Rec Room for so long. Eventually, she introduced me to another friend who I still talk to occasionally. It was these people and these connections that created one of my favorite gaming experiences in my life, however, the older I get, the harder it is to have fun in this game. As stated in the video, people are leaving. Most of the friends I knew are now busy in high school, including me! (I’m taking a lot of AP classes) We don’t have time to get on and play like we used to. When I used to get in, if my friends weren’t online, I could just go into a popular room that I liked and meet people there to have a fun time. Now, however all the games are sucky RP’s or lazily developed “Monster chase person” with very few exceptions causing entertainment. The player-base is also heavily filled with younger kids, which isn’t the problem, the problem is that there’s no one my age playing. I understand the game is targeted toward children but there’s very few online games with a generally “safe” community. I still play, but I feel sad that the online game that shaped a portion of my childhood, is now slowly going away. Most kids have sucky tastes in games and the creators of said games are adapting to that instead of making good content. The kids are much more toxic than when I was younger and it’s saddening to see these kids being rude and hateful. Rec Room has changed, and unless the next “generation” of players brings better values, not much is going to get better, I love the game, but no matter how hard I try, nothing is as fun than the first time I loaded the game. The dark stage room, the blank dorm room. Playing Golden Trophy for the first time then immediately getting scared by Circus Freak. If I could make a video, hell, if I could script a video about this I would cause I have so much to say! But I digress. If you made it this far, take life slow and enjoy it one day at a time, you never know when your online friend will log off the game for the last time.
To be completely honest, its extreamly hard for me to understand why people "quit" these types of games. Im the type of person who if i love a certain game, i will never become bored of it. (hell i still play plants vs zombies often 💀) So whenever someone makes a "Im qitting recroom" video i always find it very hard to watch and understand 😀
I still play rec room And i plan to get the quest 3 like my cousin when tax payment comes Cause i play rec room and vrchat on quest 2 and DEBUG WILL CAME AFTER U SO BE PREPARED in vrchat i get used to it
honestly nowadays my main draw towards rec is the lore and the characters i've been able to create from it- sadly it seems lately everything is focused towards FBA and collabs with big brands, i hope soon they follow up with another lore centered event
The thing thats making the game kinda unfun for me is the negativety towards the game... i get why players dunk on the game but at the same time there really aint a point to hate the game. a good 80% of the hated stuff comes from the community. yet... its always the game thats being attacked. and i hate it so much... if players truly want to see the game grow and be great, they gotta support the devs not yell at em 24/7, but yeah thats my thoughts
im kinda bored because quests are too boring because of my peanut brain paintball is starting to get boring laser tag gives me a headache and custom pvp games have the most children that should be on a junior account and social games bore me really quick
